I just got squelched/silenced, are you kidding me?

Still waiting on knowing what that fine “joke” was

Remind “them” of what? It is the TS who needs to be reminded that he should behave. It is his behaviour that caused the reports, not the other way around.

Wich, as said already by others in this topic, can easely be avoided by making a new character and spam again with that new character.

If I was Blizzard I’d make it so that when you put a character on /ignored, then the whole Bnet account gets ignored.

Thats an awnser we will not get. And thats most likely because there is no “joke”, but just some toxic drivel that the TS labeled as such to act innocent.

While I agree with you that communities themselves shouldn’t have any power in terms of silencing others… What exactly did you ‘joke about’ in general chat?

It might be very, VERY relevant to mention here.

And the fact you are EVADING this question kind of hints that it really wasn’t a good joke.

That channel most likely was world. Private channel indeed…

There are so many things wrong with your reasoning, that it’s not even funny.

Why do you think football/soccer and team sports like that have referees? By your logic, it should be okay for the opposing team to give my team yellow and red cards because if 5 of the opposing team members think I did something wrong, I probably did something wrong and deserve the yellow/red card. Preposterous.

There are GMs for a reason. Only a GM should have the power to silence/mute/ban someone, for they are a neutral 3rd party who can look at the situation objectively and hand out judgement accordingly. Otherwise it’s extremely easy for a bunch of thin-skinned pricks to abuse the crap out of this system and silence everyone they happen to disagree with. It’s preposterous.

Edit: I would also like to know what the joke was though, and which channel it was posted in. It could very well be the OP got silenced for very legit reasons. But we won’t know if he doesn’t tell us the joke and the context.

There’s nbo free speech here.

This isnt public space.

This is blizzard forum owned by blizzard.

On top of that, I dont really care about your ffirst or zillion amendsments. Thats something US tend to lean too.

Also, i am not sure why you would even say that considering the fact that he isnt speaking up. He’s just ignoring the questions asked which has nothing to do with free speech.

“Speech” is something you say.

Silent is not speaking.

Now back o ntopic, that it does matter what you say, and again, you dont just get banned from chat just because 5 people reported you. Thats not how it works either. If you say this you are clearly fearmongering people.

I think I would be reported by alot of people for things I have said in trade chat just because they ‘can’… ytet I never been banned…

Surprising right, how a normall player like me, who messes aroudn in these chats, somehow never gets banned. Perhaps I dont make the ‘wrong’ jokes, or perhaps people somehow agree to what I said about all this ‘classic’ talk in there on my servers?

Right?

I am suire classic lvoers reported me by that time. But I am still here

enjoy your silence mate and remember they are incremental… so keep behaving like a neanderthal gonna be great

It seems the feature is serving its purpose. You would tell us what us the joke or it was that bad? You probably deserved it… cause if you didn’t you would already told us.

If you don’t feel comfortable sharing what the “joke” was on the these forums, it was clearly a bad one and you deserved to be banned. So until someone proves they were banned undeservedly, the system works just fine so far, in my opinion.

Goddammit, what was the joke, I love the fact that you ignore every post asking it XD.
Either way, how do you know that only 5 people reported you?

I 100% agree with you on that one.

I’ll log in at prime time on full servers with no players around. At this point I’d pay to see a crass joke or any sign of life in chat.

Yeah I’m inclined to believe that. Because it’s pretty easy to offend one or two butterflies, but to make 5 people go out of their way and report you is not something that happens on the whim.

Which server? And where are you hanging out? I’m currently leveling in the Barrens and it’s always crowded there, even on off-hours. On peak hours, the Crossroads is absolutely bursting with people. I play on Pyrewood Village, one of the smaller servers (my queue times are less than 2 hours at peak).

Just make a ticket and the GM will say if you were deserving or not. I only got squelched once by a dungeon group who hated people from AD, I made the mistake of telling them to **** off that gave them the excuse to report. GM’s words of advise to me “They were being unfriendly but don’t add fuel to the fire, your mute will be over tomorrow”. Treat this as a learning experience, either make your replies tactful or simply zip it if someone is being a ‘you know what’. At least for me, being from an RP realm being able to /say is VERY important, I just don’t get involved in the mud flinging of trade chats/groups anymore for risk of auto squelches, as they will get longer and longer each time.

Politically incorrect jokes are fine if funny and with the right crowd, having a hard time thinking op did anything but vomit some incoherent nonsense at a group of people he had no knowledge about and received an appropriate lesson, like an old man flashing a child would get jailtime.

Wait, did you just compare s**t talking to sexual assault on a minor? Woah.

This is why people get banned for anything.

You should be ashamed for putting these two things in the same category.
