That was an unprecedented experience – I’ve never witnessed anything like it. In a Looking for Raid (LFR) group, a player with Heroic/Mythic experience rolled Need on LFR items, leading to absolute chaos. The situation escalated as they gloated, passed items to their friend, and even went so far as to ensure the exclusion of certain players from receiving loot by manipulating the raid rolls by giving them extra chance to win items. It was quite a spectacle, and it has left me contemplating the need for a revamp in the LFR loot system.
Did you make some popcorn?
I just ended up taking upon myself to need items and give it to the players who actually needed it who rolled highest.
It was super scummy behaviour I was able to save like 2 items in total for players who were being cheated out of a item.
I still don’t understand why did they change loot from personal to group in LFR. It works well in regular groups with loot management, but for a big random one-time parties it was objectively bad decision.
The guy fully contributed to the boss encounter; in fact, s/he has %100 right to roll anything s/he wants.
How do you know they passed the loot to their friends? Even so, it is not our business what the other people do with their loot.
Please stop this middle school loot drama for God’s sake. It is just LFR loot!!!
Blizzard, could you know have made a system that didn’t feel like **** when it came to raid loot.
Well when I tell someone they gloated and then proceeded to say they gave it to them then to check peoples gear I could clearly see it, Also he hardly contributed I have DPS meters and he wasn’t even showing.
If you want to sit and create a fake argument go ahead but I’ll not be engaging with you from here on.
You can go be a troll to someone else, I don’t really want to engage with you.
How does someone manipulate group comp in LFR when there’s no ability to directly invite people and removing someone requires initiating and successfully passing a vote…
God’s sake. It is just LFR loot!!!
This is the attitude that proves Personal Loot is needed.
How dare plebs use pretend raiding to actually gear their characters. These items should be trophies on my mansion wall above the mantlepiece, not being used by such unworthy “raiders”.
/sarcasm (Poe’s Law gets me in trouble sometimes).
Also he hardly contributed I have DPS meters and he wasn’t even showing.
Unless you’re arguing for a system that assigns loot based on performance or checks everyone’s gear to determine who would benefit most from the item, this line of thought is meaningless.
Personal loot doesn’t magically solve everything. M+ has it and I’ve been getting the same 3 items from a dozen ToT+18 runs, then my vault is filled with those items and the game even had the sense of humor to give me a ToT+18 keystone.
Players simply play games in the most efficient way possible. If you have an issue with it, blame the designers.
I have always thought the reason I received reactions in this forum to the fact that I am younger than the average age.
In a discussion where everyone should express their opinions freely, accusing every idea for trolling of which you are not convinced is not a behaviour befitting your age.
But it seems that even people who are at least ten years older than me cannot even reach the maturity level of people who are years younger.
I’m sorry if I did something wrong and broke anyone’s heart.
I just wanted to express the opinions I believe in.
Personal loot doesn’t magically solve everything.
I think this is mostly a problem of perception / emotional feelings. It’s Game Theory, how people react to certain situations can vary massively depending on how it is presented even if the results would be the same.
In terms of causing drama and players feeling “cheated” in Group Loot even if they had the same or slightly less chance in Person Loot. It’s not always about logic but how it feels.
It’s a bit like when Rested XP was added to the game to prevent players staying up all night and impacting their actual lives. Originally it was a debuff added after a while that reduced your XP. Players complained about being punished for playing the game. So they changed it to be a buff for more xp at first and then you went to normal xp. The effect is the exact same but one feels like being punished for playing a certain way and one feels like being rewarded for playing a certain way.
Feelings beat Logic so often.

Because some idiots in SL with very short memory forgot why PL replaced GL. And I want to add, they also forgot why GL replaced Master Loot from classic as well by the way.
Filled the forums with BS morality about PL and Blizz gave in.
Now we have this BS of a system and are begging for PL back.
Thats why. Because people are idiots.
Thats kinda a good point? How did they manipulate the group composition?
I just want to make people aware the only reason I do LFR is to help people of lower gear and for anything extra that adds to my own account “Non gear related unless a legitimate upgrade”
If someone pays a sub for this game and only does LFR the experience of LFR should be enjoyable and not toxic in my view they’re still a paying customer regardless of the content they do.
It’s not always about logic but how it feels.
For a game that’s designed around feelings it sure makes me feel like with all the RNG in loot generation.
As big of a stigma it is, the only sensible way to play WoW is through split runs or running M+ with guildies so you can set your loot specs to reduce the amount of loot wasted and trade around stuff.
If you set out to farm items on your own, you’ll be doing it for the rest of your life.

Meh. PL has problems same way GL does, even if you remove trade restrictions. I’d prefer we actively tried to solve the problems of one system instead of flip flopping between two broken ones.
And on the topic of OP I’ve still absolutely zero idea how the individual even achieved what’s been described. Nobody has control over the composition of LFR.
Thats kinda a good point? How did they manipulate the group composition?
You can que up with a considerable amount of players for LFR I’m sure, I believe up to 25.
When you invent story pulling em out of your rear at least make them look believable.

Yes you can but you can’t invite more of them after you’re already inside.
