So I am kinda stuck in the early 2000’s where werewolves were cold blooded savage killers, and just cool AF as monsters. Nowadays I can’t walk 5 meters while playing as a worgen without someone whispering me “UwU”, obvious hyperbole, but really… what happened? I am not attempting to start an inflammatory discussion, but I am genuinely curious – anyone else that kinda dislikes the tag people automatically put you if you play X “furry” race? I don’t know about Dracthyr and Vulperas, but back then when Cata was conceived, I remember furries being an extremely underground thing.
UwU
Not that it matters.
Just play what you want and ignore/block the idiots
Ideally, yeah. And one time it even went a little too far, they started whispering me asking me what I’m into the most etc. Not gonna lie… I didn’t touch my worgen for some time after.
I stopped playing my Worgen alt for that reason. I received way too many inappropriate messages.
People are way too emboldened these days about randomly bringing up their fetishes to even complete strangers.
My sentiments exactly, I rarely feel disgust but that person did it for me – and I started looking at my worgen a little differently. It’s disturbing, I honestly don’t know how these people function IRL.
It has nothing to do with being furry or not. It seems common these days to share your deepest darkest secrets and bedroom preferences with everyone these days.
Yeah that’s not furry related, that’s just degenerate behavior
I’m like 38, hopefully people around my age don’t do that, or do they? Seems like a failing society thing, but maybe that’s just me being hyperbolic. Anyway, was curious if others felt like this, I’m mostly over it and I think I can enjoy my worgen now.
Furries definitely ruined werewolves.
You’re in denial
If you like worgen, you’re not a furry. Stop letting people make decisions for you, and don’t let people hijack things either.
Part of me wants to chant the “one of us” thing, but this is honestly not the way things should be going.
Is there a furry overlap with Worgen?
Most likely, probably …yes.
But what you experienced just isn’t right nor should be the norm for anything related to furry, or werewolves or worgen.
Just people with apparently no self control.
I’m honestly cool with anything, it’s the ‘in your face’ and projecting thing I detest.
Fully agree with that.
I am a furry, one of those weird people that dressed up as an animal twice a year at cons, but that’s also where it should remain.
Yea I play Vulpera and what not, but not out there trying to convert anyone either. Like, I don’t even understand the logic behind the situation you explained. Like what was even their intended goal…
So apologies you had to deal with “that side”, we ain’t all like that
Like others said: play what you like and ignore/block people who get annoying.
Odd to hear you’re getting that sort of experience (not that I’m denying anything) since this toon used to be a Worgen before I race-changed him and I haven’t received any whispers like those throughout the years, and this is coming from an Argent Dawn player.
I played a worgen warrior for years without any of this bs.
So I have no idea why you would have issues like these. But I had to stick with the original. So I got my tbc nelf back in order.
Wasn’t that much of a common occurrence, an occasional UwU on /2 etc. wasn’t that much of an issue in reality, but that certain whisper did stuck with me.
Is this an Argent Dawn thing? Judging by most of the replies… anyway, I don’t have this issue since my characters are… stoney.
Considering I’ve seen the depths of depravity (ad Elwin forest go there once and realize it’s not 1 person but a concentrated group ) I can imagine the whisper.
Best you can do is remember it’s the other person’s issues. Not yours.
And yes the random weirdo on trade at 1 am going uwu and trying to get attention is standard fare on todays internet.
But it’s not a presentation of you or your worgen.
You do you and just block the weirdos. Don’t mull it over. Not on you. Just do you
Don’t think too much about it, just play whatever race, class and spec that you enjoy to the best of your skills and just have fun.
