Look, I understand why Torghast got criticism back in SL. It was mandatory. But I for one, enjoyed that content a lot. I think it was awesome. You could go there and get a solo challenge, and the powerful abilities were fun to experiment with. You could get nice rewards and achievements.
Delves are not as fun as Torghast. The level design was better in Torghast. The reward of abilities during your run made it more fun to play during your run.
Brann is annoying to deal with, stands in your way when trying to loot, and clutters the screen with his abilities.
Restored Coffer Keys require outdoor content, the content that is the most boring in the game and feels like a chore to me. The unopenable chest is laughing in silence at you in the end, giving you a negative dopamine boost.
Delves are spread out in the world. Torghast were all in the same place.
The Delverâs Dirigible Mount is so uninteresting to me. Mechanical themes like that have always been something that I canât stand in WoW.
So, why am I making this thread? In hopes that Blizzard sees it and understands that Delves is not âitâ for me. Iâm avoiding the content fully now. What I also would like to hear is if someone agrees with me and if there are people who enjoy Delves in its current form.
Delves are good because they are opt in content, Torghast was forced upon you if you watned to remain competitive in any other content, PvE, or PvP, so even if you didnât like it you had to do it every week. If delves are a dud to you just donât do them.
Well that is the correct response, you wanted to compare it to Torghast and that is the only way to compare them.
Someone who doesnât like delves is free to never touch them ever again if they please. EVERYONE had to do Torghast, every week, if they wanted to push any other content.
Torghast was crucial due to the legendary crafting, Delves on the other hand is an alternative way to get free hero loot whilst in my case I PvP but for others that raid & M+ is just another chance loot.
You miss my point. Iâm not saying that part of Torghast was good - that you had to do it. They later added catch-up mechanics right? I think that was a step in the right direction.
âJust donât do itâ is a weak argument. To me, solo content similar to Torghast is something that makes me enjoy the game more and prevent me from quitting the game. So when you say âJust donât do itâ, you fail to realize how important this is from Blizzardâs point of view, as I think they want to retain as much players as possible.
I mean every single point youâve made boils down to âi dont like itâ. Which is fine.
Blizzard wont care that you dont personally like them. They seem to be widly liked, bar the tuning issues early on.
While i dont find delves overly fun each one is very different from the next in setting, enemy types and such.
Torghast was atrociously grey everywhere and they destroyed it from beta so it was god awful and didnt give the âone man god complexâ it promised in its earlky development. Some classes were good in there sure but there were alot that were just not fun as their abilities were crap and the best way to clear the mandatory clears each week were âinvis to last boss on the floorâ.
Theres a reason SL as an expansion isnt looked on favourably and one of those reasons is Torghast.
Iâm not sure what people arenât understanding about what the OP is saying.
We donât want Torghast 2.0 which is where we are forced to do it. We want the gameplay and design of Torghast to replace delves.
I also enjoyed Torghast when I visited during DF. To have old content that a max level player enjoys doing says a lot. I canât imagine next expansion or later ones (if they drop the delve thing) that many people would go back and play Delves for fun.
It really is not since again, if you donât like delves, donât do them. If you donât like that, then donât compare it to FORCED content like Torghast, Island Expeditions wouldâve been a better comparison. But you wanted to compare it to Torghast, which if someone back then wouldâve said âTorghast is bad solo contentâŠâ then they didnât have a choice to opt out, since if they wanted to do Raids, M+, PvP, basically anything other than world quests they were FORCED to do Torghast, they didnât have a choice to opt out of content they donât like, you do.
I like how you just quoted a part of my reply to only focus on that.
Please explain to me why itâs good for Blizzard to spend production time on creating content that is less fun? You mean itâs optional, so itâs fine?
Speaking for myself, I came to hate Torghast very quickly. The aesthetic was depressing, the bosses were not balanced at all, the borrowed powers were too random and had too wide a range of impacts (good ones made you OPed). The rewards were rubbish too. I much prefer delves.
I think the point the OP is trying to make is that he preferred the gameplay of torghast over the gameplay of delves.
Think of it this way (hypothetically speaking): Would you prefer to be forced to do 2 delves per week, or do 2 torghast runs per week.
Also in the same spirit: would you prefer to run torghast for some low gear or run a delve for the same gear.
I kind of agree that the fun times I had in torghast (with op powers) were far more than the times I had in delves.
Delves feel like open world content that just hits harder and is somewhat challenging when done alone with low ilvl. At worst when they are done with a group, they are just the most boring thing you can do.
Now, I think they would be GREATLY improved if they added powers like torghast and introduced some other modes (like the awaken the machine scenario), so that we have a true roguelike mode.
As a m+ player and raider i can say i only do dvelves for easy gold.
And kinda feels like a chore more or less at this point.
First week i can admit it was fun tho when it was my first time and when it was freshâșïž
i recently revisited thorgast for âtower rangerâ achievement
and on boy it is fun
now it is a fun content lol u just zooming around with funny powers
they should bring scaled version back.
AND island expedition queue cause that was allso FUN + cool rewards
this entire expansion is a big let down
theatre is pathetic and uninteresting
awakening the machine is resident sleeper. its vampire survivor but we got it in home
ligthing the lights takes 3 minutes since u have candles , its a meme xD
ash kahet rumors are worse version of suramar
mount from delve sucks. if i wannabe corki i`d play league of legends
im almost done with achievements and my foot never step inside delve again
there is no twist to it, there is no change. just a general scenario lmao they called it delve
the lore is nonexistent. we got 2 hour campaign xD
for comparison hellfire peninsula (1 zone from TBC) have more content than entire loremaster in tww xDDD
so yeah. the bug within is an expansion where if u dont raid/push keys u basically done with expansion
But this is just your opinion. I have so much fun with delves and i wqs not a big fan of torghast at all.
So who of us is right now? Do we meet behind mc donalds next Thursday and brawl it out?
Its oke for you not liking delvs but dont go for content that other people like. I dont like m+ and no force on earth gets me to do them. Does that mean they now need to be changed?
I had to run tons of Torghast runs for currencies. You had to grab good skills from anima orbs and then you become so powerful that you can kill last boss in 5-10 secs even less. After season 2 or maybe 3, I was simply skipping entire mobs in lvls and get 5-10 anima powers and kill last boss. Itâs not fun for me to kill last boss that easily. Also Delves are reflecting WoW theme better while Torghast was like some sort of Diablo dungeon. I prefer Delves over Torghast.
I enjoyed torghast more then delves and wish they brought something like that, but with different themes, back. Good thing with delves is that i can just skip them.
Torghastâs biggest issue was that it was forced content.
You had to go there no matter what you wanted to do in the game, because you would be playing a gimped character otherwise.
And you had to keep doing it too, with every new character and every new season.
Also the theme was very samey, it all looked the same.
Also also it became very clear very quickly which powers were better, so you just felt kinda bad if you couldnt find the good stuff quickly.
Besides those though, I think the idea with Torghast was great, and I think if they could implement the random powers system to delves, it would make them a lot more fun.
Maybe not to delves as they are now because theyre way too short, but if they make longer ones, have that kind of progression where you buy/scrounge for torghast-esque buffs.
Maybe scramble new buffs in season to season, remove some of them, and donât make a comprehensive patch note list of them so thereâs some discoverability.
Thats not what anyone means when they say torghast was better.
It does not have to drop legendary currency at all. We dont even have one anymore.
This critique is not on torghast, but on the way the legendary sub-system worked in SL, which is a different topic.
