I still can't believe 99% of people still bind keys in this wrong way

No, I just started reading this topic, as I found the title intriguing. But the more I was reading your replies and the way you talk, the more I wanted to throw something at my screen. Simple as that.

Why would you use keybinds when you could just click the spells from your spellbook?

The pinky finger is a muscle-controlled body-part. And just like most other body parts, it can be trained. Better not skip the pinky, tinky.

People who have problem pressing the shift key while using WASD are merely advertising the fact they can’t use a keyboard and as such, they are an inferior breed, no better than mouse clickers.

Chad gamer extremes know how not only to press Shift with their pinky easily, but how to press Ctrl+Shift easily with their pinky. It is a very good finger for pressing these keys.

Using IJKL/OKL: means the majority of the keyboard is outside of your arm’s comfortable reach - keys like RTYGHJUFEZXCVBN cannot be comfortably used, even M is a problem, which knocks half the keyboard out of usefulness.

You don’t need that many modifiers if you can use your entire keyboard comfortably.

So you still fail to bring arguments. Only personal attacks. That only tells me you agree but can’t admit it.

add free aim to wow thats why i play hunter i want to play wow as first person shooter instead of MMO

That’s a stupid statement. It’s EXACTLY the same as saying “just bind random keys since it’s HARDER that way but you are PRO aren’t you NOOB?”.
Binding better keys is the smart choice and if you fail to see that then someone else is not “pro” here.

why are we getting weekend threads half way through the week?

Who gives a flying … how people keybind their keys.

The main purpose is to see if anyone can refute me. I got a few people that thanked me and most personally attacked me without arguments and only brought their narcissistic ego to call everyone a “noob”.
That tells me I see nothing wrong with the OP.

What I am saying is that with WASD, I have way more keys easily accessible. If you’re pressing Shift with your pointer finger, that’s a waste of a pointer finger. If you’re pressing it with your thumb… that’s incredibly uncomfortable.

With WASD, I can cover more than half the keyboard with my hand. I can comfortably reach the J key without lifting my finger off the W key.

I’m not saying it’s harder than IJKL or even OKL:. I’m saying people who can’t use their pinky, can’t use a keyboard. WASD is easier and also gives you much greater access to the entire keyboard.

I’m half certain you don’t even use all 10 fingers to type.

I guess every person is different. I’m mostly a console gamer, and I haven’t even used ASDW much beside WoW and some “walking sim” games, but I still prefer it for multiple reasons. It’s at the left side, so when I switch between playing and typing I don’t have to move my left hand all that much, making these transitions smooth.

Even if I move my left hand for whatever reason, ASDW is a very easy position to return to, even on keyboards you are not familiar with, as it’s on the far left of the regular keys, unlike HJKU or JKLI for instance.

I can relate to the pinky being uncomfortable (since it’s not used on controllers) and I admit that I really suck holding Shift with my pinky while doing anything else with my left hand, so I only bound shift together with stuff on my mouse (which I have 8 buttons on).

It’s interesting to read on other configurations and that might give you some ideas, but claiming that “99% of people use it wrong” is just arrogant and stupid.

That assumes I use the shift at all. I only use one modifier. It think that’s still enough binds.

I think it’s way more objective than most people believe and I know it’s so popular to say it’s subjective. We are all the same animal genetically so the main difference is total size or disabilities or left/right handiness.
Try resting your thumb on alt in the way I described and if you don’t find it super comfy I won’t believe it easily.

But… if you don’t use the Shift (I don’t either, I use CTRL and ALT)… then what’s the problem. Alt is on your thumb and ctrl is pretty comfy for the pinky. Again… you only stand to lose access to the keyboard by making it all to the left of your pinky.

Gief picture of right way!

Alt is bad on the left side. And it must be asdw and not sdfe in that case which makes it worse because keys are fewer on the left. The way I described not only is super comfy on the modifier but also it has a gigantic area of the keyboard around the other 4 fingers.

I do find it comfy in general, but there are a few drawbacks, especially with my setup, some of which I said in my post.

Also, when using the normal keyboard, there is not much free space on the table, so it’s a little bit too “right” for my liking. I prefer when my arms can rest symmetrically in relation to my body. And on my laptop, these buttons are right above the touchpad, which then I touch with my palm.

I find your issues with total-keyboard placement irrelevant to me, because I can just move the whole keyboard around here. I suspect you have limited space for little reason on the desk.

I feel if I move across to the other side of the keyboard and use IJKL it creates more problems for me than it resolves.

More difficulty hitting the spacebar, some risk of hitting the enter key accidentally and opening chat at an unwanted moment.
Each to their own if that works better for you, but I will stay with WASD.

The only problem I ever have with WASD is occasionally hitting the Windows key by mistake.
