I think it’s the mindset. Some don’t want to talk, some assume others don’t want to talk so they don’t either. Others try to but don’t get much and give up. Some are scared of being the ones initiating things. Some are scared of weird people and interacting with them or the memory of having dealt with such.
Me being a female void elf on basically all characters combined with my personality gets some people acting really weird. I can see others having it worse.
There’s also this thing about how people consider wow players to be generally toxic and tell that to others too.
What you mention here is one of the reasons Classic is a thing, this was even marketed by Blizzard when they were preparing its release.
Just saying.
Of course, everyone feels different about this, but there is a reason why you see Classic players coming here asking about our game to become more like theirs. While you rarely see people actually playing retail asking Blizz to add tmog in WoW era
I think I agree with this actually. It’s quite hard even when you’re not a new player and have only stepped away for awhile to get back into the game.
The subscription payment model inclines the design towards drawing out the content so you spend as much time in-game as possible. The large amount of explanation on top of the complexities in the systems can make it feel overwhelming to even try something. I had a look at professions recently and thought “…nope.”
I find this hard not to agree with as well, but I think the problem is more strongly felt by certain specs. I play elemental shaman, but I found enhancement also complex and quite detailed. It was interesting and fun but I found it tiring after awhile. The spec I had the most consistent satisfying fun with was Retribution Paladin. I doubt OP will want to step away from his Shaman but I’d give that spec a try if something simpler is wanted.
This is a good story, but you might have no such good guidance and support…
If you were alone you would just left and that’s the game issue that you have to learn from others rather than a game
I understand there are people who don’t want to talk much, but currently, everyone is silent and the reason is a gameplay I guess
Doesn’t it mean Blizzard failed, so old players do not want to follow the retail? In my opinion, classic could be a great idea, if seasons were very rapid, so retail players could catch up with the storyline. But continuing to push the alternative (fast, hard and unsocial) type of gameplay and creating a new separate fan base is a huge mistake
Nope, still don’t understand what makes legion better than anything that came after outside of the fun content like mage tower and the part you control your wretched nightborne.
this season has the highest player participation and retention compared to previous 2 based on amount of m+ runs and raiding.
Numbers go higher, not lower
It is happened because preorder of war within include dragonflight. I would never bought dragonflight, but currently I have it and step by step I’m trying m+
I just said that players can be overwhelmed by high amounts of content at the end of any expansion, df is not unique for this.
Like yeah you have high amount of incoming quests and exclamation marks on the map, so what, it’s because there was 10 patches before you started to play, not because blizzard doesn’t teach you.
Because TWW pre order includes df we have high amount of m+ runs and high player retention?
what? You might want to reread this sentence
Classic is great idea for those who want to revisit this era of wow or generally prefer Classic playstyle. I am not one of them and I am perfectly happy with retail.
Also, the fact we have two version is catching two different playstyles into single product. Your usual retail enjoyer will not be happy to be forced to the Classic version.
It was a reply to the ‘‘everyone’s favorite’’ expansion. Yes, it absolutely must be overwhelming to come later and have 4800 quests. The devs can do better or hint what you want to do for progression and what you don’t.
I guess you might reread my reply. I’m saying that TWW preorders include dragonflight. I bought it and got the dragonflight as a bonus from the purchase moment. People like me currently have a chance to finish the dragonflight content before TWW is released. And run some M+. That’s why M+ runs amount is increased.
Same as a classic player don’t want to participate the retail. A compromise option is required. And my offer is to easier the rotations and leave all the hard boss mechanics as it is or even make it harder. It still would be a place for a competitive
It is not a solution to leave the problem as it is. It would be cool if quests at least had a marks of season
Practically unable to find compromise, the difference between those two groups is vast. Besides it would be Classic playerbase who would go ballistic, not us.
They also prefer to have their game as pure as possible. Or have seasonal variations, while asking for resets to replay the experience with clean slate.
Then, the rotations can be simplified to a very low number of buttons already but you have to accept you ain’t gonna be competitive as much as top parsers.
The fact is the majority of retail playerbase doesn’t mind because they have their own fun, be it casual play with friends, collecting, battle pets, world content etc. I love playing world content myself so I know there is A LOT such players.
Overall design of classic, or moving closer to classic giving easier gameplay overall leads to player-emergent issues we saw in Classic, like brutal gatekeeping, GDKP and botting. Last time I checked, Classic enjoyers were very salty about all that.
The gap is very wide and it is not possible to be closed.
TL;DR but the title is right. So many weeks and still no legendary axe, although I really want to play the game again… currently the legendary would be the only driver for me to progress a bit of m+ etc.
The compromise that we have currently is that classic enjoyers can play classic, and retail enjoyers can play retail. There’s no need to change any of them to accommodate the other part of the playerbase. It’s impossible to find one-fit-all hybrid mode between classic and retail.
Ifyou want this you should go to an rp server since they got their own shards if i recall correctly. So you see the same people more often and they are more likely to be chatty.
But yeah sharding makes sure you will rarely ever encounter someone in the world
Old game has changed, Retail has evolved to support what people are looking for today, Vanillia was very current in 2004, but it’s ideas are less popular now.
Classic does well because people who loved classic, still love classic, in the same way that from time to time I might brush the dust of my copy of “Streets of Rage” for the Sega Genesis and play the game again for a bit.
The reason retail is losing subscribers is a mixture of a lot of the complaints I see every day on this forum, and the fact that MMO as a genre is dying. People today more regular, but less intense gratification.
Same, but i’m afraid we’re a minority if we’ve been playing this game since Vanilla
I agree with this, when i look at the forums with all the complaints, most of them can be boiled down to “why didn’t i get X reward for Y effort”
I think people care more about crossing the finish line (What ever that finish line is for a person) than the actual journey to get there, and that’s a mindset that doesn’t really work for MMO’s.
I honestly do not understand why people expect Retail to become Classic or Classic to become Retail. That isn’t compromise. That is just ruining the other version for the people that play it.
My personal preference is Retail. I will dabble with whatever is the latest Classic for a bit when they launch but I’m soon reminded of everything I dislike about the old skool gaming mode.
