I wanted to play the entire content of the game solo

I like this attitude. You take it, you own it.

As it should be.

Should probably Google the definition of ‘MMORPG’
just saying

Massive Multiplayer Online RPG

Just means you are playing online and there are other people playing as well.
At no point do any of the words force you to group up with said people.

Massive: means big
Multiplayer: means multiple people
Online: i think we all get this one
RPG: roleplaying game

This is the actual definition:

massive online roleplaying game : any story-driven online video game in which a player, taking on the persona of a character in a virtual or fantasy world, interacts with a large number of other players.

Interaction can be just talking even.
Doesn’t mean you are forced to group.
Heck ignoring someone would fit the definition :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

Its always funny to see players against solo play throw the MMO in the convo, while they dont even know what MMO stands for

Picky, picky, and other words beginning with ‘p’
 like, peculiarly pedantic

I think Blizz have done awesome work recently, adapting aspects of WoW to be more solo player friendly.
Requesting you never have to interact with others, is not an MMORPG
 It’s an RPG for PC.

Since I have written that down, it is now science
and you can’t argue with science.

ok explain to us folks what is Massive about dungeons
shared world still covers the other M and its Online only
you can still Roll play in the game

So LFR will now offer Mystic gear lol

I agree with this part.
Compared to the old days, the game has changed a lot and for the better.

The post he made isn’t pointless. As a paying customer, he has every right to share feedback and suggestions for the game. Just because you disagree with his idea doesn’t mean it’s invalid, and your response doesn’t add much to the conversation simply because you don’t see value in his opinion.

Ironically, you start by saying, “Ok, WoW isn’t meant for solo play,” but that’s not accurate. There’s actually a lot of solo content in the game. Plenty of MMOs allow players to choose between multiplayer experiences and solo play, and Blizzard has been adding more solo-friendly features for casual players.

If you’re not interested in casual or solo content, maybe it’s best to stick to Mythic+ farming, as this thread clearly isn’t meant for that perspective.

That’s a lot of stuff asked for in a game that’s multiplayer by default. Maybe it’d be best to play something else instead of asking the game to change.

Maybe Blizzard will release a single-player RPG in the future.

WoW has never been as solo-friendly for players as it is in TWW.

You can level solo.
You can do dungeons solo due to followers.
You can do delves (your main source of gear upgrades) solo.
You can do World Quests solo.
You can do (most) Weekly Cache-quests solo.
You can do (most) old content solo.
Heck, you can even kill the current main raidboss solo due to story mode (and even get rewarded for it - kinda.)

Honestly, the only times I’ve grouped up with people since I started playing TWW is BRD Raid Finder, 5 man time walking dungeons and the odd world premade in order to kill open world-bosses. (And neither of these are “mandatory”.)

And lets be real: Raid Finder BRD and 5 mans are, unless you’re playing a tank, basically the same as follower dungeons. The people in it almost never speak and if not for transmogs/funky names, you’d be forgiven for thinking they where follower-bots.

If you don’t like it, don’t do it. Whats oppressive about a voluntary option?

I started playing this game in 2008 and made the decision that I would always play on my own. So I purchased a silver tabby cat from the cat lady in Elwynn and set off on my journey to play as far as I could solo. So I have pretty much conquered solo content for each of the expansions and completed most of the quests, though I skipped quite a few in MoP.

Where I was restricted accessing content I just levelled my characters and then came back later. It mattered not that I could one shot the Lich King, I just enjoyed being there and listening to his ranting.

Playing solo has become more of a challenge of late cus of the whacky way they treat the time lines, but there is still a path you can navigate. I tend these days to level without questing and use all other means to level my characters. The challenge has always been to do it on my own.

Personally I have never understood the gripe folk have of being restricted in what you can do. I have always seen the game as a MMO. My understanding is that group play encourages more users to buy and play the game. I fully understood why quest chains required group play and I never once considered I should be permitted to do dungeons on my own. Instead I always did other things. Crafting for me was the outlet for solo play cus I could adventure, explore and gather and craft on my own.

In terms of todays game I think Delves and Follower Dungeons are truly dull, no offence. I’ve never been so bored in all my life. They are lifeless, dreary and for the most part pointless. I can play them without the sound on and have YouTube running in the background. They are so mind numbingly easy and dreary. I find there is way more challenging content, but you have to create your own targets.

And so what is the joy of playing solo. Simple really. Having played the game solo my whole time in Warcraft, I start a new character with a specific back story. I give them a character profile. I then set myself specific challenges and rules and aim to fulfill my own game strategy. I work very closely with my army of other characters when it comes to crafting and use crafting skillsets of all my chars.

The game for me has always been my adventure, my personal experience and what I make of it. I don’t really expect the game to make the paths for me. In truth I am more likely to go left when ever I am told to go right. I have a very good understanding of where everything is, and what can be gained from what ever I do. The world and the NPCs are my family throughout the game, even those that want to pull my head off. I could probably tell you where every spider, bear and lynx is in the game plus the raptors and their patterns of bahaviour. I know the paths, shortcuts, routes through zones and places to hide and take sanctuary.

I do love this game, but I love it mostly cus I can escape and leave the real world behind. I have no interest in other people as they would only hinder my playtime. Nobody would play the way I do. Nobody would battle pet for the hours that I do or go on archaelogical digs or track certain mobs for cloth or mine endlessly and collect plants. I realise that mine is a strange style of game where in truth my least interest is actually killing stuff.

Anyhoo
there really are no limitations to the power of the imagination, and so embarking on an adventure based around your own RP skillset and strategy is a way we played when creating our DnD fantasies of old. So making stuff up is part of the game. So if you hit a barrier or are restricted by content make your own world and play with what the game gives you. Its kept me going all these years and I’m still here, Level 80 with a gear level of just 4 if I recall. So much more fun not playing by the rules.

Sorry mybad i didnt think i need to go in every little detail. Let me correct myself:

Bis gear always came from group content. Atm its mythic difficulty raid and m+ (from rng slot machine if you done +10) for pve, and rated arena and battleground for pvp.

I play somewhat similar to your playstyle. With all the content there is and which I still need to do I try to set goals for myself. I also agree that Delves and Follower Dungeons are not fun. When they announced Delves I thought I would spend hours playing that part of the game where you could do something different alone. I still am missing Tier 10 & Tier 11.

Just mocking a little

It’s nice they’ve added things like delves so that we can get heroic level gear, and also give us challenges in the same system to keep us interested. It’s like Horrific Visions but evergreen.

I don’t think all the game should be solo, though. It’s multiplayer first and foremost, so those features will take precedence. I’d like to see if we can get more solo content like delves in future with the same rewards, more or less. It’s up to debate if the reward system for gear/stones/crests is fine. As fun as they are and there is variation with us being in different locations, it would be cool if an expansion’s feature could take on that role.

Why do people keep bringing up this argument? The multiplayer aspect of an MMO means you can engage with other people, online.
It doesn’t enforce anywhere grouped content.

PvP has the SOLO shuffle/queue.
PvE can do just the same

I’m talking about the content provided to us, not enforcing it. Blizz usually focus on the group content the most, and now they’ve given us something on par with those with delves but solo.

Ooh, gotcha.
Makes sense

I agree its mot oppressive to do dailys, in fact wow has had dailys since wow was created.
Going back to tbc wrath cara etc there wasca limit of 20 per day.

I personally found being limited quite oppressive due to the fact that with no limit they could be used as reliable way to farm gold and rep.

When the wq idea came about i was glad bc there is no limit and not all give gold, i find it weird how somebody would dislike free reign on your pwn content that you do run.
