Uhhh, yeah they do. 50 000 honour from bgs, all followers to rank 10, revered+ reputations. These are things most of us can only do once. No way can I bring myself to farm rep on my third alt. Last season I could keep my alts viable by just doing a weekly 10 + elite pvp chest as well as targeted raid boss. Now it looks impossible.
Well i got more time but imgaine that you work 8 hours/day and you don’t live with parents. You need to go shoping, need to make dinner, also travel from work to home takes time. You also need to sleep like 7-8 hours/day. What about some bath?
It leave you with maximum of 4 hours/day and there are guilds that require 3h/day for 3 days a week for raiding. This leaves you with so little time to manage alts.
I know some ppl don’t have job, live with parents, got dinner prepared without even asking and take bath every 3 days but not everyone do.
I know people who can’t play more than 1-2 hours/day because they got familiy and job. I am running own business so i got more time to play but using all my free time to play wow? Come on
hm playing alts=hell=no one does it anymore that doesnt equall killing alts? really?
HoA made BFA already alts unfriendly now they doubled it. This is the first expansion were I dont have my alts at max level after a year or even play one.
I do it all the time. Sure it’s probably more optimal to work on my main, but I’d rather enjoy my time than doing things I feel forced into.
Hi group, my name’s Steamedhams, and I’m an altoholic.
To some extent, I’ve found the latest patch to be a bit alt unfriendly. Mainly because of the time it took to run the Nazjatar quests each day, but that’s turning around now.
My main is reaching the tipping point where I can pick up a group of elites and kill them without coming close to dying myself, so that’s speeding up Nazjatar for me and letting me devote some more time to my small army of level 120 alts. Who all have good enough gear to at the very least queue for Darkshore when it’s live.
I was able to start a couple down the Nazjatar road yesterday and take my mage through the OG scenario (don’t want to spoil things for anyone not quite there yet). I even had time to find my Hunter in the worst possible heroic Stromgarde group that I hope to ever experience.
Like all things WoW, once your main is strong enough to kill decent groups, you find yourself with more time for alts.
I know this is slightly off topic, but the above statement is false. I am in the guild that raids 2 times per week, Wednesday and Sunday 19:00-22:00 and after clearing HC, we raid Mythic. In Bod we achieved 6/9. Sure, someone may say it’s not much, but with only 2x3 hours raiding per week, I’d say it’s just fine.
For years I was under the impression like you, but I was wrong.
You know what I would like. A way to change the class on my main without loosing my professions, reps or achievements except maybe those that are class specific. I would like to change my main to a mage and try it. If it does not work out I change it to a Shaman or a Druid or anything that I enjoy playing for that expansion without having to level another character and put it through all the quests to get everything unlocked again.
Character boosts is not the same because you still have to gear and do unlocking quests and a bunch of other stuff to get it ready. I just want to change my class to another. I know there are games out there that do allow this and actually very easily. You can change class by simply changing your gear. You get a mage, warlock or a warrior gear set and depending what you wear determines the class that you play. I know wow is not that simple, but a class change similar to a character boost would be a good start.
Just give it time. It might be overwhelming now. Cause everyone wants to get ready for de new raid mythic, m+ season and etc. Eventually you will get your rank 3 and 4 essences on your mains, exalted reps and etc.
Once some time has passed then the same story will begin: Mid-way patch 8.2: Blizz!!! I have nothing to do!!!
And here comes dem “alts” to the rescue. Once I will be able to reduce the ammount needed to play on my mains(mage+rogue) to make sure I don’t fall behind everyone else. Then I will continue with my alts.
Of course for some who has 9+ alts and wants to get them their bis essences and get them into raiding,m+ or serious pvp NOOOOOOOW!!! Then its an “non-alt friendly” patch.
If classes were dull why would you want another dull alt?
Only has to be farmed once. Everything else is account wide bar gearing unlocks.
You only need 1. Doesn’t take that long.
Not needed to do content.
The only real pain, but gearing is just like leveling. It’s the main part of the endgame. What you suggest ruins the game for those with alts. Let’s say you want to gear and play 12 characters (insane I know) that’s about 12 hours a day. Mental, I wouldn’t wanna, but that’s a choice for some people and it has a reward for that level of dedication.
With what you suggest there would be no point having more then 1 character. 2 maybe for faction. Game would be casual only and that would suck.
In 8.1.5 I managed to get all 12 of my ALTs to around 385-400 Ilvl with most traits unlocked, except for maybe the central one.
I could pretty much participate in anything I wanted. I’d feel fairly strong in PvP, I could do some low level keys, normal raids etc.
I know it’s just the start of 8.2 and we have months and months to grind but the thought of getting some rank 3 essences on even two ALTs just makes me dizzy.
I just think there should at least be some catch up mechanics in place for things like rep and follower experience once you’ve already done it on one character.
I’m already sick of the into quest to mechagon let alone unlocking everything to craft there.
For the first time ever playing wow I actually feel like I need to stick to one toon, which is so so hard for me.
I’ve settled on druid though I think, just for the versatility but hey, I could change my mind in a week… #altoholiclife
If only the HOA neck and perhaps the traits were shared (like mythic plus ones would be unlocked for different characters) that would make a world of difference.
Atm, i am bound to only play my priest main and a DH.
Well for me mythic raiding is only worth if you can be in top 100 guilds and full celar is absolute minimum. On top of that this top 100 guilds require you to have 1 alt with same gear as main. This require insane amout of time.
Essences : Work with what you have, you get them from just completing a key in time, heck if you want a good one for healers & Tanks ( maybe dps ) you can just do daily wq in mechagon for one
Rep : Not really sure why you would need rep on alts? do emissaries & Daily mechagon world quest if thats something you need
Recipes … You dont really need rank 3 on everything, rank 2 works just as fine
Neck level : just do emissaries that grant 3K power, you’ll get to 50 in no time and able to use most of your abillities
