ICC 10HM Professor Putricide Unbound Plague damage bug

Tonight we spent 2 hours wiping on Professor Putricide 10HM. Mostly dying from the Unbound Plague. We compared our logs to some other successfull kill logs, and found that the Unbound Plague’s first hit did 998 dmg instead of 248 dmg.

Bump. This isn’t 10man only issue. It happens also in 25man. On first day of professor 25hc progression we had 10man plague, next day we had 25man plague. I checked top logs - they had 10man version… This bug makes 10man incredibly hard/impossible if bad rng sets 25man version and it makes 25man mechanic completely ignorable (remember, 10man has 250 base ticks while 25man has 1000 base ticks, it’s HUGE deal).

Yes, can confirm this… both of our 10 man groups had 998 initial damage, but plenty of other 10man logs had 248 initial damage.

It’s incredibly painful for 10-man guilds. Professor Putricide was supposed to be our next HM, but it’s impossible to make progress when the plague deals 4 times the damage it should. And apparently the issue is bound to the instance ID, so retrying is not even going to help. All we can do is pray that we’ll get a “working instance ID” next week.
Blizzard, can you please fix this bug? I can’t imagine the fix being more than one line of code. Really, how hard can it be to reliably test whether the instance is 10-man or 25-man?

Are you serious or? :smiley: I mean if you fail to kill PP 10 HC by now, then I don’t know what to say. Try to spread the plague faster, keep it for 2 or 3 seconds maximum. Pass it to the tank when someone is panicking, communicate in discord more. I mean if you can’t kill PP HC by now then you’re just plain bad, sorry to say :frowning:

Even with the bug it’s not a difficult fight. People are casually downing this boss in 11/12hc pugs on multiple alt runs every week. Other than LK himself, and to a lesser extent Sindragosa, 10man ICC is very easy.

LK HC is 100x harder than Putricide with the bug.

We rotated people to take the debuff with a defensive on, it was very easy.

e.g. DK takes it for 16s, pops IBF after 5 seconds and ams etc

Can the difference in damage be because of resistance( cant remember, mayby its nature or shadow damage?)

With or without the bug the fight is still very much manageable. If you have 1-2 combat resses or warlocks just kill one of the guys intentionally and then ress him again. In my group i did a couple of weeks ago we had 2 locks, we SSd me, i went to die with the buff. Then i uses SS and got a new SS from the other warlock and killed myself again. After that we were pretty much in the last phase.

It’s shadow damage but it can’t be resisted, so it’s definitely not a question of Shadow resistance buffs or gear being used or not. I looked at the raw numbers in the logs before claiming that this is a bug. And this is a bug.

I did read about the ways to cheese the plague mechanism, however this approach has flaws on its own. Firstly, we have no warlock in our roster, and only one druid. We have one or two shamans, however Reincarnation does not reset after a boss, so it may or may not be available for a given try. Secondly, we may need the combat res already for something else - mistakes do happen. And lastly, letting players die on purpose isn’t exactly how we want to play the game.
