cata is a classic and you’ll cry everyday when youu see Cataclysim Classic title in your Bnet launcher while others enjoy that experience <3
Why’d I cry I’m happy on real classic vanilla I’m just saying that Cata isn’t classic and even if it happens it’ll flop even harder than the original one did
And if people want aotc mounts then playing “classic” mop WoD etc won’t give them what they want because u don’t get those mounts on ur retail account
Original difficulty isn’t the “Same difficulty”.
Look at Classic for example. Content that used to take weeks to finish now takes hours. Computers are faster, internet connections are better, addons are more advanced and add to that years of experience.
Also it’s impossible to replicate the difficulty due to the many class design changes. For example I did mage tower on guardian druid in Legion then did it again in Dragonflight. Event though the Dragonflight version has gear scaled down, the Dragonflight version is a lot easier because I have access to convoke, a lot more self healing than legion and a lot more arcane damage due to the new talent tree. Meanwhile the beast mastery hunter challenge was the exact opposite. In Legion, I did it on first attempt without breaking a sweat, in Dragonflight I tried 6-7 times and I didn’t even get close, I may try later but it definitely got harder.
Also one time rewards are not just about difficulty. Some one time rewards like the WOW anniversary reward are awarded for just logging in. No difficulty whatsoever other than having your sub active and logging in. The reward signifies being there when the content was recent and current.
I really like this idea! In a perfect world it would make everyone happy.
I hate the boomer mindset of “Too bad that you want that, it’s muh prestige and if you wanted it so badly you could’ve gotten it when it was current”
Well no I couldn’t since I was literally a child for most of these old expansions.
Same. Exactly this. Sure, I could have gotten Legion stuff when I was 16, but I mean… It’s expensive, and I used to be too cool to play wow, before I became a nerd xd
Gatekeeping is a big problem in the WoW Community. I could understand it for things like Gladiator mounts, but really, after certain mounts have been unobtainable for a while, they should be reintroduced. Making new or recycled content for them is a great solution that does not devalue them.
Eitherway, AOTC mounts never carried the amount of “prestige” stuff like Mythic or Gladiator mounts do. Most could be bought for 50k at the end of the expansion. (For comparison, you can get that money by just doing gold WQs and Racing WQs for 8 weeks on 1 character.)
So they are basically worthless. Why not reintroduce them? Atleast in the way I suggested, it gives the people that miss it a relatively similar experience, and it recycles old content.
The people that gatekeep and want to protect FOMO content shouldn’t have a voice in this anyways. They probably have these mounts, and all they care about is showing them off. It’s selfish.
Personally, the only AOTC mount I miss is the one from MoP. I was a kid back then, and although I did play wow, my mom wouldn’t let me buy the game. I would love to do Garrosh proper with a group of similar geared level 35’s.
Big and utter no. I’m getting really tired of people wanting to take every bit of uniqueness about rewards in games.
I’ve only started in BFA and missed lots of mounts and rewards and I’m fine with it, why does everything always have to be available to everyone, especially when it’s a reward for doing something without a limited time.
Limited timed rewards are okay and healthy for a game. It’s however very unhealthy wanting to have everything even if you weren’t there to participate.
LOL that’s a good one!
FOMO is usually used in F2P gatcha games to drive sales up, and even there it is considered a trade-off negative. Something that is done for profit despite it being bad for the game. It has no business in wow, because it’s not necessary. The only time I’ve seen blizzard actually use this gatcha tactic in wow specifically was the AH Brutosaur mount. For old content there is no reason to have fomo. Also not asking them to give fomo rewards out for free, but they can at least put it behind big grinds, or something similar. i.e. clear a raid on mythic 20 times on the same char to get the aotc mount. Or buying elite pvp sets from previous seasons for 20k conquest, if you are above 2k rating currently. Stuff like this has no downsides at all, and it only gives even more reason to play the game.
noooooo moooom my prestiiiiiige!!!
How or why exactly?
Depending on what audience you want to cater with.
If you think that the game is inevitable dying than you could delay the inevitable doom by giving regular loyalty rewards to cater the remaining players and giving them something to feel special so they will stay a bit longer.
Though this is only useable if you think that there is no more (profitable) way to turn things around and so only wanting to do damage control.
Because the big drawback of this is, the more it is used the more it damages new player generation and further even existing or returner players.
Because the more rewards are there that are never getable without a temporal discombulator the more you will turn players away because they can never get the cool stuff or stop having fun because it stops feeling fun and more feeling like running in a hamster wheel.
TLDR: LTR are life support measures like F2P turning to keep dying games alive.
I think in a vast games that’s reliant on people playing together or atleast being in the same world as one another it’s good that there are limited time events that reward things for participating or completing a challenge or activity that shows you were there.
The reason why is because it creates a more alive and engaging world for me, when you see someone with a glad mount from back in the day you could say “Man that’s such a cool mount” you look it up and you see it was from whenever back in the day and you knew that player achieved gladiator. That to me is an awesome feeling to see people were there and achieved something, and at the same time I sit in awe that I wasn’t there to participate in said content.
It makes you want to play, and engage in various activities to reap said rewards from it.
Now I have limits, things like the brutosaur mount being removed is very bad decision making on Blizzards part, it was meant as a gold sink, it didn’t hold any challenge towards it besides obtaining the gold.
AOTC and Glad mounts are imo one of the few rewards these days that actually feel rewarding to obtain for beating a specific requirement, same as KSM, KSH, Ahead of the Curve and Cutting edge achievements.
And to argue that “Oh but people get boosted through it all the time, it’s no longer a challenge” is such a sad excuse because to so many others it is a sense of accomplishment and for many the only reason they participate and try to get past that challenge.
Removing any sort of “prestige” from a game creates a frankly dead community because everyone can get everything and any time and theres already so many things that you can get that are way past it’s challenge, instead of being quite frankly jealous of others, maybe appreciate the fact those players were there at that time and it sucks that you missed out on it, whether it was skill or just not having time to play.
Make it so next time you don’t miss out on the rewards that you so desperately want.
Or just you know, chase another of the million things that is there in wow.
This is coming from someone who only started in BFA, missed every “prestige” item that I’d love to have.
I mean, why not just play the game and earn the current rewards? Why do you need stuff from the past?
Earn todays rewards and look forward to having them as the game moves forward.
its not about keeping things from you. It’s about building a collection which represents your journey through the game. So of those items are souvenirs which say “hey I did this, at this time”.
Now is your chance to earn something similar.
The game is so much better when your play in the present than in the past.
But nonetheless it’s going to be challenging.
Mage tower is challenging and legion is like 6-7 years in the past…
You can take MoP/WoD challange mode rewards for example and use different colors variations and make it so everytime there is a MoP/WoD dungeon being redesigned for modern m+
you gonna get progress on your ACHIEV and in the end you will get your old/new MoP/WoD appearances…
They did it with bear and look no one cares that people can obtain a mage tower appearance…even tho blizzard themself told us that it’s not going to be OBTAINABLE ever again…
yet here we are having a grizzlemaw bear model with a green skin
This is very simple to answer
for example i would like to have a WoD Cloudsong Glaive polearm
why? because there is no other good looking polearm like that in the game
Now i do not want it because i want to feel special
but because and again this is very simple answer it looks good with certain transmogs
The challenge is still different.
It’s not about difficulty. It’s about the challenge itself. The skills you have, the armour you have, the process of discovery whilst the content is new. The game has changed so much over the years the only way you’ll ever emulate that again is on the Classic realms, and even then it won’t be the same.
Nobody is against recolours.
Nobody is against recolours.
Recolours are not the same reward.
What’s wrong with the Poles arms in the game at the moment? specifically Dragonflight.
Are you saying out of all of the pole arms currently available in the game you can’t find a suitable one? Across all expansions.
Whilst I appreciate you want to make your character look pretty. Making pretty transmogs isn’t really the focus of the game. The focus is Progressing and overcoming challenges.
Yes, we all like to look good when we do that. But it’s also good to reward players for overcoming some of these challenges when the challenges are current. And Cosmetic Trophies such as Transmogs and mounts is a really good way to do that. It encourages engagement in the content, and makes the game more full and lively. A much better multiplayer experience.
Personally, I would like to see a lot more of these Time-limited rewards in the game.
Its not abou less hard. Its about fact you cant replicate challenge and conditions to be excatly same as in past. So you cant give same rewards when conditions are different.
It cheapen rewards and alienate players what have those rewards and for what? Becouse your entilted brain cant stand fact someone have something you dont? Lets be honest here. Non of you wants those rewards back becouse of looks. You all want it becouse you cant stand that you have to play alongside players what have something you dont. For someone wanting those things back you barely touch things what you can earn now.
Yes they are what special about the item is the MODEL the color of that item doesn’t matter
mage tower bear is good example
no one cares about Green bear it’s about having the unique model
Yes i’m saying that becaues the only one that is close to WoD polearm is the black ice but it doesn’t suit my Transmog most of the time
cloudsong is perfect for my transmog purposes
as i said i really don’t care about being prestigious i like how things look
It doesn’t cause i have original bear from legion and i couldn’t care less that someone can get it
i’m still playing the game and enjoying the game so stop lying
