… would they become a Blood Elf through the use of Fel Magic?
Or is becoming a Blood Elf(E.g. getting fel green eyes) mainly the result of devouring fel magic to sate the elf’s need for magic, as opposed to merely using fel magic with proper wards, precautions and grounding techniques?
I imagine this also leads into a further question about magical corruption/influence in Warcraft, and that is:
Can Necromancers/Death Knights/Warlocks use necromancy/fel magic without eventually turning into undead/demon?
They´d be a High Elf with green eyes. The term Blood Elf is purely cultural and political. The Silvermoon elves got theirs from the passive radiation they endured from those chunky fel crystals you see everywhere that were used to sustain and power the city.
Meaning that all those High Elves you see on Outland plus Alleria are an absolute black hole of utter nonsense if we contrast the trace amounts of fel energy in Eversong to the hellscapes of Outland and Argus.
Just adding that I’m mostly referring to the physiological traits typically identifying the group that call themselves Sin’Dorei/Blood Elves, as there is no widely used term used to describe High Elves with the low fel-corruption of Blood Elves.
Whether correct or not, the terms are often used interchangeably, as most people upon seeing a High Elf with fel green eyes tend to assume ‘Blood Elf’, and it is the trait most people will identify the Blood Elves with.
The High Elves that survived the Scourge attack on Silvermoon named themselves the Blood Elves in Honor of the fallen of Quel’thalas.
High Elves are Blood Elves and Blood Elves are High Elves, the only difference is the colour of the eyes, it is not a sort of mutation just a magical alteration of the eye pigments due to fel.
Blood Elves and high elves are the same thing. Only difference being their names because of history. Blood Elves call themselves Sin’dorei to remember their slaughtered people. High Elves chose friendship with the Alliance over survival, so they are just trying to distance themselfs on a political levels. Everything else is just the same. Even the eye colour will become golden for everyone, given enough time.
You need to drain the arcane of things around you for your eyes to turn green mostly, though radiation of fel seems to do the trick too.
but Sin’dorei is a race while High elf is a small minority political group of Sin’dorei not respecting change nor the fallen and Traitors to the Kingdom.
Saying that Belves and Helves are the same is disingenuous.
They are biologically the same race, yet High Elves have blue eyes, are politically and culturally different and have a different history.
Wrong. Are you from the highelf mega thread by any chance? Because they share culture and history. Just because Alleria and Vereesa focus on Ranger stuff, doesn’t mean all high elfs are outgoing like that.
And that’s all that matters. There is no difference at first look besides their political alignments.
No. It’s the truth. They stare mana addiction, sunwell infusion and history. Just because you change citizenship after moving out doesn’t mean you pop up a total different culture set. And definitely not in the span of 10 years.
They share history to a point. The High Elves are those who never left the Alliance to begin with, and a bunch of them live in Alliance areas or have special relationships with Alliance races like the Highvale and the Wildhammer. Their history has been different since before Vanilla.
And no, I don’t want playable High Elves.
Yes you do. I think I saw you over there once. Know your lore first. Strawman of arguments is not actual arguments btw. All so called differences are about alignment with the alliance and mana addiction dealings. Which became irrelevant regarding their moral integrity, when the sunwell was restored.
Want to point out where I’ve been strawmanning? You said they share history, I said they havent shared it since before WoW. Void Elves and High Elves and Blood Elves are share history, they are still 3 obviously distinct groups.
Moral integrity did not become irrelevant with the Sunwell, as the differences and the rift caused by it still happened and still exist. And why do you think the alignment with the Alliance is an irrelevant difference, when I pointed out one distinct group of High Elves who are characterized by their close relationship with an Alliance race?
