Lol I never asked you to accept they can do everything or to think they’re awesome. I simply refer to the fact they can literally be warriors, and that there’s several examples of them as warriors. If you want to pick and mix fantasy for headcanon, knock yourself out, but you’re the one denying the reality, not me. Im just explaining it. Have a great evening.
EDIT also try to look beyond the game models for everything. If you’ve seen artwork of Mekkatorque (like the Operation Gnomeregan stuff) you’ll know the guy has some pretty huge muscles, certainly bigger looking arms proportionally than a multitude of the posters here I’d imagine. In the lore he is fairly muscular. Accept it.
There are what, 3 examples? And they make no sense as every other source before their introduction suggested that Forsaken casting Holy comes at the cost of literally burning their being.
Just because Blizzard says “they exist” (despite previously being impossible), doesn’t give it any more legitimacy. They have no idea how to write an RPG anymore.
Originally paladins were the result of warriors who trained in the ways or the light, or priests who learned to fight like warriors. (Source: The Tides of Darkness book).
Example: Turalyon was a priest, while Tirion was a warrior/knight.
From the creators of Fat-2-Fit comes the latest workout plan: Mea-Culpa-2-Deus-Vult. Tired of being bullied for wearing robes? Had enough of using ornamented walking sticks as weapons? Wish you could tell your fellow party members to pound sand and dictate the pace of a dungeon run?
With this fabulous new program you too can transform from a man of cloth to a man of steel! Gain access to all new weapon transmogs of which you will use only one, the Ashbringer! Purge undead! Purge heretics! Lay with all the hotties at your local tavern then purge them too!
Charge into three packs of enemies at once and toss your Avenger’s Shield into a fourth pack for good measure then instruct your healer to uninstall the game when they fail to keep up with you! Paladin life awaits!
…What you explained is exactly what a paladin is. Wyrmbane, the one that gives us war campaigns missions explains it perfectly. He was a priest that decided to pick up a sword and become a paladin. That’s exactly how the Paladin order came to be.
Priests are extremely versatile in lore, no so much so with paladins. What kind of priest you are varies–it may have nothing to do with the Light, Elune, or the Loa.
Also, there are some cases where, in lore, the person is actually not a priest. For example, it was heavily implied that gnome priests are actually medical doctors when they were first introduced.
Also holy Forsaken are much more interesting than Shadow imo
Shadow priest forsaken are just yet another “gurr i am grimdark deathsorrowsaddepression the forsaken” trope, meanwhile Holy Forsaken are absolutely badass.
Like, the whole idea of the light burning away their hands as they cast it just to heal others, and the light slowly causing them to regain their senses, meaning they can smell the rot of their body, and feel the maggots writhing in their stomach, it’s genuinely such an awesome idea and why my Undead is a Holy priestess.
