It would help if tanks werenât the only ones in the group capable of taking a hit.
Tanks should always bear the brunt of the damage, but a non-tank should be able to survive for a least a few hits, so the tank can get back to the group without it being a wipe.
Also, drop the 15s affix to 10s, or drop it entirely.
But that have a lot of stuff associated. Even without a tank death, a tank can lose aggro and a dps get a hit and die. And u have 2 solutions to avoid that, make everyone who is not tank a bit more tankier so they can at least take 1/2 hits and stay alive or increase a lot aggro that tanks generate.
Cause this season has been a meme the aggro generation of tanks tbh, specially brew.
i dont knowâŚ
i mean i tanked a +7 on my bear with ilvl 600 and didnt find it particularly hard to survive.
Just make sure you always use something when you run into a pack, best also save some rage from last pull.
incarn is certainly not the hail mary here. you are immortal once you get rolling with incarn but when you run in, incarn doesnt even do much to protrct you from once shots.
but tanking for sure got more annoying in tww
The DPS do have a job to do but most of the time if they fail it may not be a full wipe but can assuredly lead to someone dying or themselves as they are like âI cant press a defensive because its a DPS loss, Which I have heard from people before who play DPSâŚâ Missed interrupts and of course boss mechanics which is applicable to all.
As someone who plays a tank I can agree Aggro generation this season stinks, Especially when you have braindead Ret Pally, Fury Warriors (These are usually the worst offenders) jumping in with less than half a nano second into the pull and then ripping aggro with their 4m+ DPS burst and dying and going âTANK???â, I dont have cooldowns for EVERY pull and when I do not this happens. I kind of feel that every class should have some form of misdirection with this scenario because no matter how many times you tell them during a run âIf i have no cooldowns you just rip aggro and dieâ they still repeat the same thing over and over and blame the tank.
You have no idea how many wipes i had with my kick on CD. The tanks kick on CD⌠And 3 DDs with their kick off CD.
And in addition to that, lack of DPS also caused a ton of wipes. I can give you a situation:
Tank pulls a pack. Its the most dangerous step because there are a ton of mobs pounding the tank at once. So he walls. As he should.
That wall lasts for X seconds. If after that time some mobs did not die, or are really close to dying⌠The result is 99% of the time the tank gets 1-shot after the wall expires.
So DDs have a job to do. They need to know what to kick. What mobs to focus and kill (and manage CDs accordingly) and assist the healer with def CDs and the tank with Crowd Controll (like licking a caster freecasting in Narnia)âŚ
That might seem easy to do. But it isnât. And its not unique to DDs either. Healer and tank do that too.
But this whole post is about tanks complaining about that its super hard and they dont want to do it, so they dont tank.
Maybe if we remove this âstigmaâ that DDing is responsability free people would see the truth, and the community would experience higher success rates.
Exactly what I said that some DPS will not use defensives and the tankâs most important job as you said is to ensure he stays alive not to ensure interrupts are done (Ofc he can contribute to it as I normally do when tanking buts it not my priority, If im low on HP then ensuring im using defensives and other things over interrupting)
Its a bit more than just defensives. But you are right.
And yes. Tanks have to focus on surviving. Its their primary job.
But my point was not to say that DDs have to cover for those situations. As if its the tanks job to kick, and DDs only do it when you cant.
Everyone has to kick. Healer included. And DDs have to pop def CDs be default. Not only when the healer is in a rough spot.
Figuring out when that is best to do, while simultaneously killing mobs as fast as possible is not as easy as it seems.
