If you aren't gonna do a new class for shadowland

But you already have these abilities. Mostly all of your abilities are useful. The abilities we need back, are the situational abilities based on reaction. When A does X you respond with Y. What we need, is abilities such as Shattering throw, Widow venom, Tranq shot, Master’s call, Sac roar, banner intervening, intervene in general.

Abilities such as this allow for some awesome gameplay such as intervening your healer on scatter to eat a trap, tranq shotting bops to land a kill, purging important buffs or purging enrages.

The feel of the classes can easily be re-obtained with minimal changes. We just need in-the-moment situational abilities back, we need global cooldown on our major CD’s removed, etc. and the game would be fluid and awesome again.

I would consider those good abilities to bring back yes, when i said abilities that are actually useful i also meant those, by highly situational i mean skills like fire blast for all mage spec, like who cares? That is just flavor stuff, fine if you want to add it, but it hardly makes the spec better, arcane explosions though, may be useful to get rogues out of stealth, but still, not that great.

Frost shock, i hope they do more than just bring it back, and primal strike, well, don;t really care. Just a few examples.

And ishayu, at this point i can assume accurately that our views just differ way too much, while we agree on a few things, we disagree on the core aspects of a rotation and how a spec should work, so i guess this conversation at this point will just become a back and forth but never finish, because we just do not agree at all.

We can take for example the whole hot steak mechanic, if that wasn’t there right now fire gameplay would basically boil down to cast fireball and fire blast, with a few pyroblasts when you can, i just do not see how you could ever make a fun spec that revolves around a spell that has 5 second cast time, it’s just impossible for me to understand that.

It’s fine when it’s a proc like the 100 lvl talent, i actually really like that talent to be honest, but pyroblast always being 5 second, no, it would cause so many problems.

I agree that our opinion fundamentally differs here. I knew that from the beginning.

But I think the points that have been made on both sides are interesting and I hope this conversation was useful for people who read it.

That’s dumb.

Sure there lots of specs but spec being seperate class is another problem of it’s own. But the unbalance is a result of not having too much classes - but lack of balancing whatsoever.

In Legion every 0.5 patch was a balance one. In BfA? I am not even aware which patch was a balance one lately.
Let’s take a look at League of Legends, they have ~140 champions? Each with different kit, gameplay and role. Sure they have their own balancing issues (starting since “Scarizard”, the guy responsible for MoP previously, joined Riot) but they are rolling out changes to their own PTR each week.

Small numerical value changes on abilities, attempting to “balance” the game.
In WoW we have what? At least a “balance” patch each 4 months?

That is the reason there is imbalance, amount of specs / classes is irrevelant here.
Balance team does not balance the game - and that’s a problem.

Frankly I’d rather they put my three specs back how they were in MoP/WoD than design me a new one with the current philosophy.

Or at the very least, stop changing fundamental class mechanics with each expansion. I play classes I like, they don’t need regularly shaking up to make them not what I like…

A spec from wod that i really want back is ret pally, but ww monk in legion was absolutely great.

They made a blunder with how they handled artifacts.

Of course, but then the issue comes up; what should be done. The answer to that will be different for many players.

Which is honestly one of the things that worry me.
I LOVE BM. I truly love it so much.
And I hate MM. I truly loathe how the spec plays.
Survival I kinda like, but not in huge amounts; one of my alt hunters is SV (I have 6 max level hunters, soon to be 7 when we get Vulpera). So yeah: 5 are BM and 1 is SV, that is the extend to how much I like this spec over the other 2.

I am worried they’re going to make the spec less fun for me by focussing on class over spec.

I think, and I hope, that what’s gonna happen is that old abilities or new abilities shared between all specs will come into play. I don’t think you’ll be getting MM abilities and I certainly don’t think BM will start playing like a stationary marksman and I certainly don’t think you’ll lose the emphasis on pets.

I think the sorts of abilities you’re gonna see are both silly ones like Eyes of the Beast and Far Sight, but also a couple more traps and maybe some melee abilities that make you do extra damage if you’re close or something, but there’s a cooldown on it and it’s not a huge bonus… idk

Maybe aspects will come back. That’d be pretty cool wouldn’t it?

That is making a comeback and very welcomed  and only thing I would really want is combat and old SV back in SL as maybe 4th specs as I dislike SV and Outlaw now .
