Same here. I miss the aesthetics, it is a gorgeous comfy game. But I could last about a month before I realized the speed at which new decks come out. I was playing during the time Galakrond was new, came to love Rexxar/Hunter - but felt really winded by the vast amount of cards and the ever-changing META.
I donât find that to be a high barrier to entry.
I mean, I play Battlegrounds a lot, and I havenât bought the Tavern Pass, because it doesnât really seem necessary. You get more statistics and the choice of more heroes to pick from, but none of that is really needed to have. Works fine without.
The DuelsâŚand letâs just enjoy the cinematic so I can double down on my shilling:
It definitely requires having a collection of cards beyond the basic. But the cards you can choose from are rather limited, and so is your deck (16 cards), so you really donât have to craft very much (some classes are worse than others of course). I certainly donât feel it is inaccessible to new players or free-to-play people.
Well as far as Iâm concerned, then Iâve also bought the new Transmogrification, so I donât have any issues in that regard.
But I get what youâre saying: Some people balk at the notion of giving Blizzard money.
âŚWhilst at the same time they pay for WoW expansions and monthly subscriptions, which makes it all a bit hypocritical, so thereâs that.
But yeah, the whole matter of âIt costs money!â does seem to be a sticking point for some.
I love playing open world games, specifically MMOs. I donât enjoy playing card games like Hearthstone. Simple as that.
Because unlike wow classic and tbc Hearthstone is garbage, the mechanims are garbarge , itâs community is garbage, the art development team and most of the arts on the cards are lame/crazed and ugly and come from some characters than should never be a card, Eiise, reno whatever bulls*** i am a random kadorei archeologist yeah right, murocks and other garbage for example.
The number of decks is lame and trash too and there are no real print of that trash card game and real events with real decks and players.
Yu-gi-oh duel links is the undethrnable leader here since 1995 on countless support and version, ha,dheld, salon , playabe decks, got countless archetypes a skilled player can achieve king of game, be qualified to the kaiba cup then finals, the characters and story and characters power are better , more balanced , funier , the art on the archetypes and cards are way better way better the character aswe try comparing yami yugi or Yusei fudo to any random debilitating lamestone characterâŚ
The animations and musics are on a complete other world level and the fun aswell donât even try to compare syncho summon mechanism with any garbage lamestone mechanism.
The game is alive and kicking online and on iive tcg tournaments sice mathusalem aswell, you actually get rewards for playing not just every two other years box some lame rewards and you can at any moments test your skill against players from the whole world, japan, macao, iceland, new zeaand, australia, quatar all in one click.
Box come to one two a months, well itâs like comparing premium 3 star chief cooking to dog food but everone needs a hobby âŚ
Because HS is garbage and it gets worse and worse.
The only thing that I find interesting about Hearthstone is Totalbiscuit-style gimmick decks. As I lack the thousands of Earth Dollars that required to obtain the cards to make such decks the normal game quickly loses its appeal.
I donât like the direction the game is moving with getting more and more combo focused, as it adds a larger layer of RNG - you no longer need to pick the right card, you need to pick the right cards instead. Furthermore, the addition of Demon Hunters is when I stopped playing because they were unkillable with my slow free-to-play set and I didnât want to spend money to reroll hero.
In general a nice game but:
- Decks that instantly go face tend to win
- Demon Hunters are OP (theyâve been nerfed several times, maybe not OP anymore? Been a while)
- When was the last time you got to round 10?
I would probably still enjoy some occasional, casual game. But meh - not buying cards.
Never was really a fan of card games. So my knowledge about Hearthstone:
I am aware that it exists
I tried hearthstone for promotional stuff.
I hated it.
I mean REALLY REALLY REALLY hated it. Thatâs why.
Maybe if i played it back in 2010, i would have been hooked to it, but not in 2020.
Because it costs too much. I play battlegrounds but thatâs it.
No thx, the game is all about to get the meta cards, by pull in tons of money.
After that , rng will deciede who wins.
I donât like card games.
Yusei is so badass. I like Judai/Jaden as well, but damn, Yusei is on a whole other level for me.
Itâs way too expensive.
With the next rewards revamp I might give it a chance again.
But the fact remains that even 80$ every 3 months are not enough to fill even 50% of an expansionâs collection.
Genuinely; 100% no
Within genres that I like, the theme/franchise might be a deciding factor - e.g. Iâll favour XCOM games over other tactical combat games - but there are some genres I simply do not enjoy and will never play.
Growing a lemon in an orange orchard wonât make me want to eat it as if itâs an orange
Because itâs a microtransaction-driven RNGfest that punishes players for not gambling enough cash until they can build a competitive deck. And even then itâs only going to be competitive until the next expansion. TCGs were the original âsurprise mechanicsâ in gaming, a real pioneer in fleecing players.
Iâm glad that you love the game, but personally I am not into card games whether they be digital or physical.
I have relatives who love card games though, I just donât find the appeal or interest to them.
Edit: That fake movie clip was funny though
Because I have no interest in it.
Hearthstone was fun at the start but then you donât play it for a while and come back and all your cards are trash because thereâs been 4 expansions since you last played. Not too appealing to get back in and spend 200 dollars to get up to speed again.
i have been playing alot of hearthstone lately and honestly its not that much p2w. But in the beginning you donât get alot of options. but if you do your daily quest for gold you can get alot of packs.
Battlegrounds is free but with normal playing standard indeed is p2win because its all about the latest expansions. buying them quickly with money can get you more wins . wild is fine tho
Never paid anything for hearthstone myself , then again i have been playing for years but also with some year breaks inbetween so i had time to grind
