I’ve read through some forum posts of that software provider and by what I can tell, they see the ignore / mute function as a tool to “hide” ignored content rather than actually mute the ignored user as in being unable to respond to posts from someone they’re ignored by.
That’s a really weird definition of ignore in my opinion. The usual reason for an ignore, mute or block is that people don’t want to interact with certain users. May it be bullying or intended provocations to trigger someone. Discourse’s ignore function kind of works in favour of the ignored one still granting them “access” to the one ignoring. Not very efficient.
There were also forum admins complaining that a proper block option is missing in the software and that they have to manually “separate” users that don’t get along. So, apparently at least mods can deny all access for interaction on behalf of another user. Seems a bit patronising and not really up to the common standard on social platforms.
My opinion still remains that if I pay for the participation in a game community I should have all rights and possibilities to deny certain users complete access to me if I wish to do so.
Well, everything seems to be hinting at the conclusion that Blizzard can’t really do a lot about ignores/blocks without pretty much changing their entire forum system, unless Discourse themselves do something about it.
A silly thing to get stuck on for a multi-billion dollar company if you ask me.
Agreed. It’s not like they wouldn’t be able to fix the problem by switching the provider or propose to work together with the provider to improve the functions. They have the money, they have the experts. It doesn’t add up.
Btags weren’t really a thing at the early stages of Real ID’s implementation. They only got around to allowing players to add people through btags later on, which if i remember right was after they switched from the old-old forum to the previous one before the current.
Besides it maybe being a better mobile platform then the current forum is worse than the old one and without much being done to improve it.
I just got another harassing reply by someone on my ignore list, who this time explicitly painted a false picture of me to defame me. Still pledging for reply block in such cases…
I honestly have no idea. And that’s the thing. If I could manage such stuff on my own with proper functions, I wouldn’t need to wait for a mod to decide whether the harassing statement needs to be removed nor repeatedly ask for a user to be denied access to me. This isn’t fun anymore. I repeatedly told that person I don’t wish to converse and he’s flatout ignoring it. Despite me having flagged him for it.
I sent a couple schmuck on the rose like that if they keep trying to argue or talk with you even though you have made it clear you don’t want to talk with them which is one of your fundamental right and ignored them, imho just let them rant their delirium and ignore them. Thye often prtend they don’ tcare but if they do keep replying to you they do !
This category includes both clear and masked language and/or links to websites containing such language or images which:
Insultingly refer to other characters, players, Blizzard employees, or groups of people
Result in ongoing harassment to other characters, players, Blizzard employees, or groups of people
If a player is found to have participated in such actions, they will:
Be given a temporary ban from the forums, depending upon severity
Harassment takes many forms, and is not necessarily limited to the type of language used, but the intent. Repeatedly targeting a specific player with harassment can lead to more severe action. The idea behind this is to prevent any one player from consistently being uncomfortable in the forums
The bottom line is that we want the Blizzard Forums to be a fun and safe environment for all players. While playing Blizzard games and posting on these forums, you will encounter thousands of other players who share different experiences and come from vastly different backgrounds. While certain language and images may not be offensive to you, consider the fact that that same language and images may have a completely different effect on someone else. We’ve done everything we can to make this a great environment – now it’s up to you
But how can I let someone slander my name and paint a false portrayal of my person intentionally to discredit me / my opinion? Also, I don’t think people intentionally harassing others should be encouraged to do so by just letting them if they were clearly told to stop it. I did so. He doesn’t care. He’s been aiming to reply on almost every controversial post in derogative manner, apparently in this thread, too now. Whenever I talk to someone else of different opinion he feels the urge to throw a verbal dagger and stir things up. I’ve reported it several times and he still keeps doing it. How is that a proper forum moderation?
Hi still same sane minds here nice to see.
Already ignored 3 weirdos here.
And forums are common sense by some threads with likes big plus from last time I was here.
