Be careful now, representatives are all seeing.
Just make us post on accountlevel instead. Would stop all the «altposting» and flagabuse and the lvl 11 classic trolls. And u would only have to ignore one account instead of 50 alts. Maybe would reduce all the silly armoryshaming aswell if we didnt post with our characters.
Thank you for restoring my buried post’s @mods.
Long, long overdue on both forums and in game, thankfully the two I ignore from the forum don’t seem to post on alts which is gratifying. If they resorted to alts it would indeed be fur going greyer.
After reading several of these posts in this topic, I agree that ignore should be account based not character based like they do on the overwatch forums. For the following reasons:
- No more armory shaming
- Not over using the ignore function because of alts
I heard grey hues and fully white is the new thing when it comes to fur.
I swear, if a certain forum user keeps quoting me just to raise my attention by picking apart what I say in order to misunderstand it, knowing god damn well that I don’t wish to talk to him, I’m going to write another ticket. Full Ignore forever and a day means BLOCK after my definition. At least it does on other online platforms. No replies by ignored users. No subtle quoting amidst another reply. No circumventing of ignore by using alts.
THAT is an ignore function working properly. On platforms I don’t pay a penny to use. Now. If I pay a 13 quids for a service, I can at least demand the same standard, can’t I?
i wish it was possible
we just got a random dk reveal tmog shaming
i ignored him on the forum but id rather not see view 1 hidden reply on each topic he responded too lol
It should he possible to hide quotes from blocked user. I mean, there are reasons why I would not want to read their posts, even if they’re being quoted by another user.
Agreed
Im not the type to ignore anyone for any reasons, but theres too many people on the forums getting hurt over the smallest things and they keep spamming threads that add nothing but spam, tried putting them on ignore but all it does is removing their msg which is kinda pointless
I guess if im easily offended it works fine, but for its intended purpose it does not
Some platforms make it so the ignored can’t see your posts at all. Imo it would be best if neither the ignored nor the one ignoring could read each other. Which of course would only work properly if you couldn’t read each other’s alts either.
They should have made wow forums like other Battle.net forums, ie built around battlnet tags rather than IG chars.
I believe they tried at some point.
I don’t get why WoW forum needs to be an exception there. It would make a lot of things easier. E.g. adding people from the forum you get along with to your fl or in general reducing the amount of troll posts. Would save the mods a bunch of time and above all build more trust among forum users. Less inciting posts by anonymous alts, better community vibe, easier forum moderation.
I wonder if the fact they’re using Discourse limits their possibilities with the ignore function. The point is that the forums aren’t their own creation, so they might not have full control over how it works. I however have no experience with Discourse myself, so maybe someone who does could offer some insight?
I’m not defending them with this, just offering a possible explanation for why things are the way they are.
They could with other games but not with WOW ???
It sounds like a rationnal thing to do therefore team 2 won’t.
I’m pretty sure other blizzard games forums are also built using discourse, so I don’t think that’s a big of a deal. I agree that ignore function kinda sucks with discourse, which is a paid product.
Well, it wasn’t exactly btag, it was the realid stuff
https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/blizzard-scraps-real-id-for-its-forums
As always instead of fixing the stupid parts of the idea, they scrapped it entirely.
I know aboot that drama but my point still stands : They should defo use Battle tag rather than IG chars.
They are, but WoW is more complicated in that the account is split into “subaccounts” in the form of player characters that behave like their own individual accounts. The question is if they can just make the ignore account wide, or simply change the character-based system into an account-based one.
I assume they want to preserve the players’ identities they’ve built over the years here with the characters they are known as, which I think fair. So if account wide ignore isn’t a possibility, the question is what other options do they have that won’t disrupt the forum “community”.
What a messy mess !
Still, it’s on Blizzard to find a damn solution aboot an issue they made.
