Ilvl gap in 10.2

So there seems to be a huge ilvl gap between current content and 10.2. Amirdrassil LFR loot is same level than current mythic. So does that mean that we have to farm outdoor content, mythic dungeons and other stuff before its viable to enter normal and heroic raids? Or will you be just fine with the current gear, that you get for example from heroic raids?

Current gear will be fine for normal raids.

As always, the curent “good” not even best gear will be enought to kickstart the normal raid

the gap is increased so people won’t consume 6 month long season in 2 weeks like they did in season 2. it won’t change the beginning much

The only thing that will change is that you will not faceroll through most normal bosses the moment the season starts, and that guilds, depending on their general skill level, will spend a few weeks more in normal instead of starting out Heroic week two.

What sort of gear level do you class as current “good” gear?

Gotta keep the treadmill going…

short story ? yes you will have to farm much more as better player .

it will impact weak players even more bbecause good players will just spam m+ much harder and then will boost their own alts . wweak players wwill be hard walled for weeks.

it shows that blizzard has no intention to release actual content they will just prolong gearing.

they still will do that. they will just spam m+ much harder in first 2-3 weeks.

anyone wwho is not 445+ when season starts and wwont push m+ really really hard in first days will be hard blocked from joining any semi decent m+ runs for months.

So I’ve just had a quick look in PTR. S3 normally doesn’t start until a couple of weeks in … and I came across at least two questing rewards at 441 R1 which could be upgraded fairly easily to 450 just via questing. Entry level, from what I’ve see, for normal raid is 441, heroic about 454. I’d imagine that professions gear will also get a boost, so getting to 454 probably wouldn’t require a huge amount of effort either.

ilvl gap makes normal raiding relevant for a while, which is a very good change.

It never made sense that normal raid gear was redundant for the majority of players.

Hate to agree with you but the smaller gap from s1-2 worked out better and should’ve continued.
Have they said how the evoker legendary is going to work going into s3?

it made sense since this meant that people who have no business doing normal werent forced to farm it - aka hc / mythic raiders.

dont worry they wont do it either this time - they will just spam m+ very heavily and the better they are the faster they wwill gear.

those who will suffer will be casuals who will be hard walled in like +5 crying that m+ are overtuned.

You had a chance to show compassion to the casual player base for once, all you needed to do was stop talking.

this is why they have normal , heroic dungeons … and +2 keys … just finish will give gear for pushing more

I guarantee that unless your group is very bad at the game. You can walk straight into heroic 10.2 raid with current I level and flatten the raid

The gear will matter a lot less than personal skill. Knowledge of the fight and group cohesion

As long as you can pass those checks your gear won’t matter. So it’s not something you need to worry about. Play the way you normally do it will all be fine

424 will be fine
437 curren heroic will be better
Obvious 447 is bis.

But 424 will see you though normal and the start of heroic. Obviously more gear is better but having leveling blues didn’t stop us in vault of the incarnets so it won’t be a problem here

I just want to add to that topic that I went on the ptr and did some of the new keys with a group that had no idea what it was doing and we crushed the 20s like pancakes. I’m not convinced the next season will. Feel very different

For context we have 450 gear on the ptr. Which is somewhere between lfr and normal next tier.

And if we can do 20s with lfr gear the raid won’t be a problem

Just keep in mind that each season base mythic dungeons are being buffed by 30% (more or less translates to 3 key levels). This season they will probably buff them by much more (probably double that), so we cannot really draw conclusion about tuning for m+.

To be fair, this season will be WAY better for casuals.

Last season everyone was “forced” into 11-20 keys, which created an unhealthy environment (way different players playing the same keys just because those were giving the gear upgrades).

Now, atleast the people that push will climb faster in the first weeks, and casuals will actually do keys in the 2-10 range that will give them upgrades. IMHO this is way healthier, as those levels are a way better experience for casual players.

I don’t really like it very much. The gearing at the beginning of the xpac is the part i like the least. I always feel far too weak.
This time i will have more secondary stats, so we’ll see.
I don’t really see much gain from this change though and it will compound the power creep and regular ilvl squishes.
