Flashback to the Wowpedia pararaph explaining how all Nightborne have turned atheistic + areligious and adding a source, which is the timestamp of Thalyssra in her memory quoting something along the lines of “We separated ourselves from the world without the sun, without the moon.”
EDIT: It’s still there, but they added an “It is implied that…” to it, at least.
Nowhere in lore was ever stated that San’layn is a “short” teerm or short version. It does reflect the state of what we know about the race. It is a race, they were raised on Arthas’ whim after his one Nathrezim ally defected to Sylvanas.
There is no such thing as friendly San’layn in lore, they were created (it is hinted only) to make up for the lack of such a keen general for the Scourge, simply going with numbers (all the sanlayn npcs) making up for quality (one nathrezim) when it comes to intellect.
Lore was changed recently so to justify the name for a char customization (that was imo needed) and “Wowpedia” prob changed that accordingly.
In the GG darkfallen and San’layn are two different things in background AND phisical features. One was raised by X, one specifically by the Scourge. The only generic thing in here is the term “Darkfallen”, not San’layn.
As far as we know they are ALL brain programmed to perform Evil.
WoWpedia still states that Dark Ranger Nelves have officially joined the Alliance because Night Elf Dark Rangers are a customization option and due to how that Forsaken Elf Dark Ranger said her kin are free to do what they want.
That site became a haven for headcanon, apart from actual quotes that are properly sourced.
You can use w.e site you want to cite the lore, but you need to confirm that there are sources for it: quest quotes, novel quotes, links to pages - anything. WoWwiki was good at it, until it became defunct; now it’s WoWpedia.
If you just quote a random sentence with nothing attached to it (where from? Who said it?) then it’s just why even bother, because anyone can edit that for their own personal liking.
