I'm concerned by the amount of High Elves

In the Siege of Orgrimmar they had captured civilians form Theramore strapped up and used as archery practise targets. In Brennadam we saw parents nailed to walls with throwing spears in front of their children.

Blizzard can get pretty brutal when they want to.

Lemme guess
HMP’s?

Has it ever been anyone else though?

And yes, I do endeavor myself into telling people that’s not only not a legit warcall related to the light but also pretty cringe.

“Lux vult!” is something I have seen people shout more than once.

Yeah and again, I don’t think using latin sounding words like we’re in a Harry Potter movie is any less cringe.

People wanna borrow Roman/Medieval Europe terms but absolutely refuse to play the RPG Kingdom Come Deliverance… Smh.

I remember Ion saying something about how Old Gods don’t really die in the conventional sense. I’m also convinced that Blizzard are setting up a void expansion after Dragonflight, so I totally expect to see Old Gods returning soon.

You have damned us all by speaking it out loud.

We’ll have to blame Blizzard for having the Church speak faux latin in Warcraft 1.

Ignore anything Ion ever says because he ain’t no lore guy.

Yaaaaay… More cosmic bizzarre adventures from Danuser & Co… Last time went so swimmingly well I can’t wait for it to happen again.

I thought it was lumen vult, not lux

It is Lumen Vult, some likely tried something else to be different on that front perhaps.

Latin is largely the language of the Titans really. Their written language is usually ancient Scandinavian runes (fufark?) and then a lot of their spoken words are Latin or psuedo-Latin, like Tyr’s Libram being inscribed with “Esarus Thar no’darador”.

Lux is “Light” lumen is “the Light”. Lux vult sounds more like deus vult.

You guys are putting a lot more thought and debate into how the word for light would be declined in this context than the people who use it have debated themselves whether it makes sense to say it in-universe or not.

To think nobody has even considered ‘Tyr Vult’ yet.

Oh I’m not discussing what would be the correct way to say it, I’m just referring to the fact that Lumen Vult was a phrase used on AD in the past by some guild or other.

If Light is 100% always used in place of God in the world of Azeroth, then why do Kul Tirans say “Cor Blimey” - a phrase derived from “God blind me?”

Checkmate.

(This is a joke I’m almost certain the person who put cor blimey in the kul tiran /whoa was unaware of it’s origins and just thought of it as funny English phrase which tbf, it is)

I have some moderate faith in the fact that Shadowlands appears to have hit WoW so hard it lost what looks to be easily more than a million subscribers just in Shadowlands alone. Therefore, I don’t think they’ll do cosmic for at least 2(!) expansions when they think everyone has forgotten.

You’re thinking of Dwarven runes I think. Titan runes (as seen ingame at least) don’t bear any real resemblance to any Germanic runic alphabets. That said, the Titan language doesn’t seem to bear any real resemblance to Latin either.

I genuinely love your optmism. It’s not even unthinkable like “They’ll never do something as silly as Shadowlands again.” but you think they’ll do it just when enough water has gone under the bridge
