At least with mythic raiding but probably everything.
Yes, I know, I know, it’s just another “I quit” thread. Bring them “Can I have your gold” posts on, but joke’s on you - I don’t have any.
I have spent ages and ages on this forum trying to understand World of Warcraft and suggest improvements and updates to make the game less frustrating and more social, but no matter what I did nothing ever came of it.
Today we found out that pretty much nobody in the guild was actually playing because they had fun - they were almost all like me: Playing out of loyalty and friendship. And thus, 5 years of mythic raiding every week comes to an end.
We’ll play something else.
Why am I making this thread? Do I think myself special? Well… not really, but I know a lot of people on this forum know me well at this point and I wanted to bring finality to it all.
Dear Blizzard: There is a limit to how much abuse I’ll take from your design team. I resolutely refuse to play your stupid daily treadmills. I refuse the drab environments of Korthia, I refuse the Archavist’s Codex, I refuse the changes made to Torghast, I refuse the changes being made in 9.1.5 to undermine everything I care about. I refuse getting hit so many times by 1 player in 4 seconds that my combat text addon creates a solid wall blocking my vision. You don’t know what you’re doing, and I’ve had enough.
To the rest of you… I’ll still be talking a bit from time to time, but don’t expect many comments about gameplay any more. I’m sure most of you will be glad about that, anyway.
They can’t tailor the game, just seems like a big excuse.
You can design content for all manner of people all right, it’s just that it requires effort and effort requires money, and i don’t think they are yet willing to invest.
They also have some strange ideas, that honestly, the only way i can see the making sense is if you look at it from a time sink prospective in order to try to retain players for longer, but at a certain point it has diminishing returns until you reverse the effect and people leave because they are tired.
That or, they are just completely set in their ideas and think they are actually right in spite of everything.
Pull the ripcord? Yeah, they have. But pulling the ripcord really just means more swapping between fights. It’s just inconvenient and annoying and disjointed - constantly changing your character doesn’t make things fresh - it just plays tricks with your mind and your build. Once it’s in you’ll see.
If you ask me, the solution is to delete Soulbinds. Just take the whole system and put it out of its misery. The rest of the stuff can stay.
That’s something i considered too, although the conduit energy made no sense at all, and it’s good that it has been removed it’s still very inconvenient, you need to go back to your sanctum, change conduits, and if you wanna swap covenants your renown does not carry over as far as i am aware, so they did make it less inconvenient, but it’s still annoying.
More than anything, this thread just reeks of you growing out of the game.
Back in the days I used to spend tons of time playing this game, now it’s gone down to a couple of hours every few days when life allows and some things I enjoy still and some things are no longer fun.
Having changed made in accordance with your suggestions on how to improve it would need backing from an absolutely silly amount of players in order to ever happen - you’re overvaluing your opinion in relation to the game.
This sounds like a disjointed guild. Mine has been running for many years and whenever someone loses passion to play or needs to leave for other reasons they say so. If you’ve all silently been playing out of loyalty you must have had very severe communication issues in the group.
Your experience and opinion on the game =/= objective truth.
You’re not forced to spend more than 30 minutes per week on Korthia if you don’t want to.
You can completely ignore Archivist’s Codex since it gives an extremely small benefit this tier and the sockets will not matter unless you’re going for very high ranks.
You can completely ignore Torghast after you’ve upgraded your BiS legendary to 249 - you don’t need it higher to complete Mythic SoD.
The 9.1.5 changes are very sought after for a lot of players. It’s unfortunate that you dislike it but when the majority wants it, it’s a good change.
You can disable/filter combat text as well as moving where it pops up to not block your vision.
I’m not particularly defending how the expansion is playing out as a whole - I have been slightly disgruntled for many years now that the game is constantly catering to the casual playerbase. That said, you seem to be confusing content that is required to do and content that is available to do. We have players in our guild that haven’t even interracted with the Codex so they haven’t even learned the reputation and they still enjoyed progressing SoD mythic and will kill M Sylvanas for the 5th time tomorrow.
It’s okay if you grew out of the game, but don’t automatically blame the game for it. You’re not the same person today that you were when the game came out 15 years ago.
Delete soulbinds? That would be then unbalanced and system would be failed, game would be unplayable and this players that plays game would delete wow. This could have been done on ptr but this is a live version, so your suggestion is not realistic. They made a mistake didn’t listen but now all they can do is make some balance and do what needed to do from the beginning. The system in 9.1.5 is great and everything they changed is valid.
Dude, soulbinds contribute to like 5 % of the total dps, almost irrelevant, some effects are nice to have, but on average it’s no more than 10 % of the total output.
I think yes, honestly, i would be in favor of a m+ like system for raids, they are not gonna remove difficulties for good reasons, but it’s also not good that the ilvl gap basically makes older content from the same expansion completely irrelevant.
The thing is that if there is not a good incentive, basically a reward people generally do not do the content just because.
I don’t have a grind problem for better progress in the raid, m + but I have a grind problem that doesn’t give me anything. Today I decided not to do any daily quest at Korthia because it gives me absolutely nothing normal and valuable. Quests give me an anime and a rep for Death’s Advance which is useless. Covenant mount (Nightfae is ugly x)) a socket that costs 1k cider kekw, pets and some little things that don’t make any sense. If quests give me along with anime, cataloged research would then make sense to do it but like this nope.
I think grinds can be good in moderation. If you feel like you are working towards a goal, but doesn’t take so long that you just feel exhausted.
Also, things like artifact power, renown etc, should NOT be character wide, they should be account wide, that’s when the grind changes from nice to exhausting, pretty much the only thing that should not be account wide is gear, which is already quite a time investment, no need to make everything a time sink.
