I'm done. I tried

And its wrong. You also have people that enjoy the game (or have been) present in these groups that voice their distaste about certain things. Also Square Enix for example is doing exactly this. They listen to their playerbase. If they would have done the “blizzard way” then FFXIV would never have been fixed given the utmost monstrosity it was before a realm reborn. Their ultimate raids were also a result of people complaining about the difficulty of the game.

Their way of thinking is also flawed for another reason. Someone that enjoyed the game so far is also inclined to go to the forums for a thing he dislikes after it gets implemented/announced and he cant “just play it” anymore. Covenants are a prime example here.

I think there’s definitely some truth to that idea anyway, because I have friends who enjoy the game. And they don’t go to forums to say it. They don’t care about arguing with the haters. They just log in and play.

Then they are fine with the Covenants. Others are not while having enjoyed the game prior and as such voiced their opinion. Blizzards reasoning is flawed and a lot of other companies dont do it for the reasons stated. And Blizzard numbers dropping like crazy (regardless of the Lawsuit or the age of the game) is just further supporting this.

Not just the covenants, they are generally fine with the game. Legit, if you asked them, they would say they are enjoying it.

These players are raiding HC, doing keys in about +15 range, and collect mogs and mounts in their free time. So probably something about average wow player.

Regardless of them, I’m in a very active and social guild that raids mythic with many players online every day doing various content. A lot of these players are pretty fine with the game atm.

Blizzard numbers are dropping and that’s a true signal for them. But when you look at this forum, we’re really talking about couple of hundreds of players posting here, maybe less. I don’t think forum feedback is truly representative of the playerbase anyway. There is a lot of concentrated hate here.

And let’s not forget people bandwagoning or karma farming, some negative are just that really.

WoW has problems, one important Imo is that M+ created “division” inside of guilds as well, I remember when playing on P Servers, Cata exp, after raid we were playing a lot of PvP together casually, and laughing for hours on team speak.

Now imo in the average guild, people rarely do M+together, you see most people in keys now but in groups of 1-2. Because there is a lot of “looking down” and avoiding people that don’t do other people key levels, and thus avoid them most of the time.

The game allows a lot of flexibility for single players but don’t really bring people together anymore like it used to, and it shows.

I did but some players agroed me :x

and they could and probably would if they hadn’t systematically sucked the soul out of it since Wrath and replaced it with a number chase, a machine.
i know it’s not all the games fault, everyone knows the best part of an mmo is it’s newb years, but that’s exactly why its needed a REAL shakeup, a tidal wave, not the stagnant pool it is now.

Well the sad reality is, many companies, even outside of the gaming industries, use these same techniques. Facebook? Instagram? TikTok? Let’s add some more while we at it shall we? Onlyfans? Netflix that puts an episode every week to keep people subbed?

Everyone uses the same addictive time-gating technique and ofcourse FOMO( Fear of Losing Out), which is a technique you find in any Marketing department in any digital company.

So let’s say you “quit” WoW, your dopamine level will plummet, this is a period when Gamers get hit by the depression wall, because your numbed body is feeling the emptiness sensation, usually lasts 2 weeks, so unless you are the determined productive person that moves on to better hobbies(I am into aquascaping, selling/trading shrimp and fish, also other landscaping related stuff…), you will probably go try some other games to fullfill that dopamine, hell even try some dating App’s out of boredom before you decide, well heck, other sheit also try to suck money out of you even more.

So ultimately, unless you have a plan of how to fully fullfill this time of yours with constructive/productive stuff, you will go back to the same pit you tried to crawl out of.

I’m here to share your sentiment. My sub is running out in 2 hours, I’m not gonna resub, and I didn’t feel the need to create yet another thread with “I’m qutting” narrative.

Me and my friend who’ve been playing WoW for good 13 years or so quit the game completely this week. The game kept me going for 2 consecutive years just like your guildmates - for the sake of the community. But our guild ultimately fell apart due to numerous reason and the quality of the game was pretty much the dominating one. I felt like something important was ripped off of me, but then I tried to substitute it with another guild that raided Mythic. Needless to say, that the game’s issues became even more prominent, now that the safe-net in the form of my friends was gone.

I hereby stand by all of what you’ve said in this quote.
Game bad, bye bye forum people. Was good knowing you, maybe I’ll come back sometime.

sad to see ya go honestly one of the few people here which i could converse with on a equal level.

I’ll still chat.

I’ll just quit mythic raiding which was by-and-large the only thing I did besides daily chores - whenever I could be bothered with them - at this point. Now, since I am quitting the thing I played the game for and the thing things that I felt forced to do as a result of what I wanted to do, the amount of playtime spent is going to be much reduced if not near 0.

I also won’t discuss detailed game design. I cba anymore. They’re not paying attention.

Oh my god, is that the guy from NCIS? Daaaaaaaammmmm he has gotten old!
Stop getting old everyone!!
