I'm just out of it

It’s 4 AM. I’m AFK gaming at the Oasis and wondering what I’m even doing.
Season 3, The War Within. I’ts more like the war within me to keep caring.

You either do M+ or you raid. That’s it. Everything else is dead. And if you do decide to do either of those prepare to be called dog and thrown headfirst into some of the most deranged soul destroying toxicity the internet has ever produced.

No normal well adjusted human being queues into Mythic+ or raid. I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy.

You could always go do some world quests and get 13 valorstones and a green item for your trouble.

It’s all somehow easier but also more pointless. Season 2 at least had some friction.

You see Manaforge Omega on twitch during RFW and this looks intense. This is the raid of of all raids. Then you go in yourself and stomp it into the dirt in like two pulls. Turns out it was all for show.

Dimensius wasn’t the all devouring. He was the all disappointing.

Who wants my gold?

(jk I don’t have any)

I don’t know what I want with this post. But if you thought my last thread was dark just wait. This spiral is deep.

This content drought is a water slide straight to the bottom. I forgot the floaties.

K’aresh is kind of garbage, oasis is pure garbage, delves are kind of stale. I mean yeah, you either raid or die.

Yessir, you know it…I absolutely cannot stand the high HP Delve adds.
Like…why are they still like this? You spend five full minutes cleaving down three random adds that feel like raid bosses. Insanity. Pure design madness. I don’t even want to step foot in Delves anymore because of that

I burnt out in season 1. Went to anniversary and reignited my love for wow. I attempted season 2 but the goofy goblin disney vibe turned me away and not looked back. Retail is literally collect tmog/mounts, raid or mythic+

It’s only “raid or m+ or die” because the only thing that matters to you (plural you) is item level and stats.

You guys don’t read quests (or even do them unless your minmaxing guide tells you to)
You guys don’t hunt achievements
You guys don’t collect pets, toys, mounts, appearances, profession recipes etc.
You guys don’t level alts
You guys don’t spend time with other players online if it doesn’t provide you with a strict power upgrade

The game has lots of content. If anything, it massively needs a heavy grind nerf because it’s impossible for anyone who is not NEET and only plays WoW to even complete 50% of the game.

So… same an every expansion? With the exception of delves, which are still there, so I don’t see what’s the problem with this patch.

And that’s the problem.
You people (plural you, those that only do M+/raids) simply don’t know how to enjoy a game anymore.

Players want to be rewarded, its like that since the dawn of games (offline and online). And WoW only rewards those who do the absolute end-game.

Go farm mounts etc you say?
Well, thats fun with weekly lockouts and 1% droprates…
And yes, I got most of the mounts that drop in raids exept the latest.

Previous expansions you had time to level up in peace and enjoy the content.

But as season 3 proves: its all about endgame. Even Diablo seasons have more meaning to them then this.

Not wrong, you do lure flies better with honey than with vinegar.
But that’s also the rub, isn’t it?

Blizzard has tuned the game psychologically to trick you into being rewarded and keep playing, even when you’re running through recycled content.
You’re basically being conditioned to be happy with a dead mouse.

And at some point, the little happiness you’re getting from your small achievements and victories, runs out. It’s simply how the brain works. Your constant shot of dopamine will become ineffective at some point.

Which I believe is the reason why people are never happy in this game.
You’re too focused on a singular aspect, and that dopamine effect will simply cease to work at some point.

I have the same feeling, and I hope that playing 1 character pure in battlegrounds will give some satisfactions.

-Dungeons are ruined, its speedrun bs.
-Raids beyond lfr require guild, and that requires commitment to raidschedules
-Delves could be fun but the mobs have way to much health that playing a delve feels like wasting time. Stupid tank mobs that don’t drop loot or give exp or anything. Just there to waste your time.

Quests aren’t worth to read since Shadowlands.

Starting to complete/collect stuff in 20+ years game is kinda like you said, you have to be unemployed or very bored to pay Blizz 13$/Month just to grind old content and try your luck with 1% drop mounts.

Getting 80 with a different character doesn’t change the Game. Also leveling in retail is boring and way to fast.

The open world is dead, no one stops to talk with someone there. (Maybe it’s different on RP Realms). Writing in M+, Raids or PvP mostly doesn’t go well.

That a lot of player just do stuff because they want gear is a result of Blizz, they made the game like that.

Objectively not true.
Delves.
World content isn’t great, but it’s not dead.

I will admit though: This doesn’t feel like a good season. There’s something off.
Maybe the next 2 patches will fill that void (pun intended).

Well, there you go: Something to do. :kissing_heart:

If we are not working towards a character power increase then it’s wasted time and can be spent elsewhere or in other games that do give you that.

The days of seeing WoW as a world to explore or RP is long gone.

There was this quote dont remeber where from thatbothing good comes out from actions past 2am

If you cannot sleep and feel like playing wow i woudl personaly recommend just leveling alt via questing.

From my experience there is no point doing anything semi serious in wow past like midnight / 1 AM at latest as most good players are already asleep and only strange / desperate people pushing demanding content then.

If i woudl have to advise activity irl - find liek a night gym in your city or go for a jogg

I like to create new characters and lock them to level 68 or 69, then do old content. Like, all the zones, professions, quests and so on. If I need to do dungeons and raids for quests, I briefly exit Chromie Time so I can solo them, then I go back to level scaling.

I find it way more fun than m+ or raids, but these are just my 2 cents.

All I do is grind delves. Why? I just want to collect all the tier sets for transmog.

I dont know. I grind all three great vault slots for each class every week in delves. I have barely enough time to do that.

I do LFR each boss once, but otherwise I dont bother touching raiding or m+. Why would I torment myself trying to do any of that?

If there werent delves, I wouldnt be playing wow. I dont know why so many people hate delves. They are my content. Perhaps it is the point of view I do them. I dont concern myself with their difficulty or whatever. They are just sources of items im trying to collect. Not even really ilvl once I can do the stuff that gives me hero grade items that I can upgrade to mythic appearance.

I used to do another basically “braindead” content. That was leveling characters. Once one reached max lvl, I just started a new one. One could say I could do that even now, but blizz has long since broken it. Its just too fast, but thats what it seems majority of players wanted. Leveling isnt even the conten they like to do, but they still whined it away. Im aware its not going to change, but thats about it. I have another braindead grind to do now, but I still miss leveling.

Blizz has still essentially made any content that is not current end game completely pointless and its difficult to extract any “gameplay” out of any content that isnt end game. I have no idea why they did this.

I had that epiphany as well last night.
Mindlessly plowing through all the world quests on K’aresh and the thought pops into my head: Why am I even doing this?

And the soulsearching that results in always comes with the conclusion that it’s time to stop.

So yeah, for me The War Within more or less ends here. The moment I become too aware that I am just mindlessly on the treadmill and doing the next thing and the next thing it’s an indicator to me that it’s actually not fun anymore - it’s just habitual.

It’s fine though. I’ve come to learn that my periods of enjoyment with WoW are getting shorter and shorter. But so long as I can still put it aside when I want to, it’s all good.

Besides, Silksong comes out next week, so the transition was inevitable anyway.

I did hope that I would enjoy the final Season of The War Within for longer. I usually find the end of an expansion the most fun because there’s the most to do. But this time the treadmill feeling set in rather quickly. Ah well. It is what it is, and it was good fun for a few weeks. And there’s still Legion Remix to check out whenever it releases.

It’s a video game, by definition it’s a waste of time. And there is definitely a world to explore and RP in.
