Some of us do, half my guild was doing day 1 the upper lvls of torghast just fur fun (the corridors not the normal thing), taking 1h on each lvl due balance.
And spamming Islands even passed the weekly cap*
Just give the same quest rewards you give now, it only swaps the expansion, giving more variety.
It’s you, as OP says, Delves get me bored pretty fast, if just could be scaled higher even i get NOTHING from them, i would sill doing them till lvl 200.
New faction, toy and trash to recollect in openworld would work for you, but not for me and not the OP so like it seems, and if you are talking about mid patches… cmon 4 quests in arathi for a mediocre and cringe video at the end.
Btw i like cozy questslines, but the ecodome is just embarrassing.
Oh sure, same as people who chase m+ score purely for the number on rio or whatever.
I also raid with my guild and I still get excited to kill progression bosses with them EVEN if said boss drops absolutely nothing for me.
But lets also not be naive and think that “carrot on a stick” is not important in getting people to do whatever content.
You have already activities that rewards loot, what would make you think that offering an alternative for those who dont like those activities would not jump in?, the alternative given is rejected already.
Ppl that dont raid and dont myt+ dont seek loot, therefore…
*How many cranked monkeys did you see on the Blackfuse farms?, and as long i can remember the rep dont reward any loot
There is so much more in this game you can do you just make the choice not to.
There is raiding,m+,delves, lvl alts,do achievements, collect pets and mounts, pvp arena 10 man and 40 man battlegrounds.
IF you only raid then yea the game gets boring.
If you do all the other things aswell or some off them there is alot to do.
I just enjoy playing the game i do m+, delves, i collect pets , i have 4 max lvl alts i do delves with i do the weekly’s and the seasonal events.
I am on thre same boat and the game is different every day for me and full of fun. Cannot imagine running only M+, Raids or just to PvP. Would have been long out of the game already.
Today I feel like I will run some older raids for transmog and maybe recipes, then do some delves with alts and then some Blitz matches with main before going to sleep. I will have fun and do something differnt than I did yesterday and plan to do tomorrow… but yeah, that is just me, enjoying the full deepness and complexity of this one of a kind game no matter if it’s current season content or legacy one…
You can have a look what happens in +10s range where Ive met a lot of people whose performance is…uhm…yeah and some have also outright said that they treat m+ as just a chore to get weekly myth rewards and nothing more.
Going back to shadowlands early s1 when PvP gearing was suddenly very popular due to gear drop drought. Result? A sudden influx of people doing BGs…and let me guess. PvP was suddently so cool back then and people found their inner “PvP spirits” right?
I agree that there are people who will do activity X cause they want to and like it. Aka its core audiance. For me its raiding and semi-serious(aka 12-14s) M+. No matter how good or bad raiding/m+ is, I will continue to participate it. Its the main reason why I still play wow anyway.
And there are people who will just chase their “prettiest pixel reward” and look for the easiest way to do it. If its m+ = then its trying to sneak into +10 and hoping somebody will carry them, if its raids = same story with pugging or PvP.
Never have.
Busy work isn’t content.
See above I do try to get all teirs for hunter tho.
Alts make the content burn out faster…
What other players lol…
Retail is good at only one thing .
Single player content . You play with people but you are alone . But at least you have stuff to do when you just want to press some buttons .
Press the queue button , do some stuff , log out .
Progression is gated .
Socializing an imitation at the gathered event every hour .
Gearing an illusion , which resets all the time .
Learn your class ? Please we will destroy it with 3 tuning patches because today purple is NOT the flavor .
Retail is Candy Crush or some other mobile game , where your whole point of playing is collecting things and mashing buttons .Everything else does not matter , because it is reset in 5-6 months when a new Candy Crush game comes out . It is endlessly flashy , with constant new gacha events , but without any soul .
Of course it leads to burn out . Because they don’t want to deliver long term satisfaction . They want to WOW you at the new shiny project so you buy subscription and the expansion , than simulate content , until you are ready to purchase again .
I felt like that too, some years ago. Felt that with other games also.
Now I feel profoundly disinterested and somewhat confused on what to do with my spare time. I’d like to have a garden but I can’t move, not yet. And I would grow potatoes and carrots, and I will have a green house with tomatoes and maybe cucumber.
I’m pretty good at games. Not best but good. But I’m just not interested.
It’s going no where. I got the pvp staff and some other things. Got surprised cause I could buy it with tokens, which was very neat. Now I got a lot of upgrading to do, loads of them valorstones to get. And some other stones. Gotta get stones from the vault, cause Idk where else to get them, and I have to do delves, which I rather not do. Got 13 keys for that and half-good gear so it should go alright but it’s just so boring to me. I want to be out in the open. Takes so long and nothing can happen in a delve, no one can appear. And if there’s no one there, why am I? To get stones… right. But why is the game made like that? Cause I don’t like dependency, right. But why can’t we do things together but apart? Like I see you so I help and you see me so you help and then we go or leave?
Everything about games is so small. But I like pushing buttons, I’m good at that I think.
Then that new game: PoE2. Good luck. Idk though. I did D4 and I have to say that it really goes absolutely no where and then it resets.
Maybe you’ll see what I see at some point. Maybe grow something in the sun? Then go inside, have a shower and turn on the latest WoW: Morning and go get a new sword maybe.
I doubt things will change anytime soon and I’ve been thinking it should change for some 20 years now. More even. I had more hopes when I was a kid playing EverQuest than I do now. It was more roleplay, it was more experimentation and it was way more beef of a game. Crazy hard. But WoW is waaay better than that game was, it’s just that it doesn’t have… spirit? Doesn’t need spirit, apparently; the perfect buttons is enough. Perfect progression. Always busy. Thousands of quests and much much more. Nothing that is meaningful beyond what items you get though. Like what do I do with my gold even? Hmm… I can’t really buy anything. Can buy a shirt I want that is not available anymore. About 500k for that. Super bad deal but… There’s just nothing, is there. So anything that is even remotely something gets insanely expensive and a total ripoff.
Why is there nothing? Because there’s no purposes. That’s why crafting is so awful. Or whatever… whatever. Idk. Many others answer these questions 100 times better than I do.
Well… good luck. Don’t worry about it but I don’t think this is getting better any time soon. The very core philosophy is wrong about this, so it won’t change.
Reading all that. I am not really sure what are you expecting from WoW. its still a dragon bashing pixel video game. In vanilla you bashed pixels for pretty purple pixels and now you bash pixels for prettier pixels in rewards.
I play it because it is a little more active than watching TV .
I usually log for an hour or so , for instance before dinner , because it beats starting at at Big brother 30000 while cooling off after taking a bath . Just enough time to do a delve or a few world quests .
It is also doesn’t screw my eyes as much as staring at a phone .
But I am starting to think that paying a monthly subscription for like 20-40 hours a month is too much . If it wasn’t for Classic I would have stopped .
I used to hope it would get better , but honestly with Mid coming I don’t see it . If I want questing , leveling , story and people to talk to I play classic .
What classic is bad at is actually what retail is good at .
Classic is not just 30 minutes log in and forget . It is an MMO RPG . You have to invest time for it .
