Not for a whole expansion, no.
There’s flashes of brilliance sometimes. But those moments last only a little while.
I myself am feeling ‘season fatigue’ for the first time in all my years of WoW.
I guess because I’m now ‘actually part of it’, with delves. I used to simply ‘do my thing’ and seasons just meant new content for me to do, mainly.
That’s why I get the feeling that the seasonal method isn’t the right one for WoW.
Imo it should be ‘expansion-wide’.
The mythic+ squish eliminated a huge deal of progression for a big chunk of the playerbase, and was a bad move in general.
As for the story goes:
Even the narrative campaign I’m about to play with my warhammer 40k club has more story on one page then whole season 2 and 3 combined have.
This expansion’s patches seemed to have just not hit the spot for some reason. The mid patches are awful - I’m especially peeved that we have the Radiance event with absolutely zero lore explanation or conclusion. It just happens and will happen forever.
I thought maybe it was just I hate the goblin theme and I’d love K’aresh. I actually dislike it more. I’m currently just farming delves for the Tier appearances LFR - HC (very rarely do I get Mythic, it’s too much hard work hitting sponges)
Been doing Loremaster + reps, this is a brand new account. If I was on my main account… well I’d be out of things to do extremely quickly. For some reason I can be bothered and it gives me a good dopamine hit. That pretty much tells you how interesting end game is though if I can have more fun doing old content on a new account.
I also get depressive episodes, I call them “the mehs” well everything is boring and I play out of having nothing else to do. I have zero clue what gets me out of them but I wish anyone with similar the best, it’s a nightmare to have no interest in absolutely anything.
Having said that, there are times I leave WoW for a few months and play a different game - ESO, BG3, GW2. I then start thinking about WoW and get sucked in again, around a new patch or expansion.
Also starting to care less and less.
Writing is garbo, Characters introduced are garbo, questing feels soulless and repetetive, the raid is just same colors on top of same colors galore, m+ is … m+.
PvPing is just sitting in que for ages if you do the group versions, if you do solo-que; You’re squashed as a none-pvp-main / elite.
I’ve done collecting and achievement completion over my 20 years here, and it’s just starting to feel endlessly soulless because of the writing being so poor and in my face; so I loose interest in doing old content too because - I “have to” put up with the new way they do things anyway.
I do some M+ with friends, as well as delves; but yeah… it’s getting to me.
Im just tired of the shoving-in-your-face behavior of things.
Then leave. Seriously.
Nothing wrong with that (even though I don’t agree with your reasons).
If I was unhappy, I’d quit.
Hell… I DID quit. In WoTLK. For several years. Sure, I came back eventually and discovered the game was much more enjoyable for me. But still… That break was good.
Staying and being unhappy doesn’t do anything for anyone.
How cool would be if the open world felt dangerous, the old content now non accessible/non good balanced due scaling from new gear stayed relevant or challenged at the same level it was when released.
Either you keep in the seasonal treadmill or you die.
Keeping the old content challenging means that e.g. clearing Molten Core would take 2 hours instead of 5 minutes and nobody ever with the amount of outdoor zones, dungeons and raids in the game would be able to farm for legacy stuff, simply because a day does not have 240 hours and we don’t live for 800 years.
Implement this and the player base will shrink to a fraction of what is is now.
I knew it was going to be soulless slop when they retconned Ethereals into Shadowlands lore. Anything the realm of death touches is awful, fitting I suppose.
Or, dungeon challenges brought back, mage tower appearances, balanced thorghast and islands expeditions with seasonal rewards and housing decorations, permanent timewalking event with rotational WQ`s (in old expansions with updated scaling) with relevant rewards.
And those are just thinking in 1 min…
You guys forget how much old content wasted is in the game due gear scaling or removed, forget old raids, we need more activities dont you get bored after 1h bcs you oneshot everything.
It’s you, I hardly keep up with all the current content available, especially lately with all those mini patches thrown in between seasons with more content addded.
So happy to have some room to breathe and zerg some older stuff solo when I feel like it. Not interested in more current content TBH, it is overhelming already.
The worst feeling for me is seeing all the new exclamation marks on maps and over NPC’s heads evrywhere after bigger content patch It almost makes me to log out
And that creates another problem.
Rewards. And lets not be naive, people wont do content simply for “fun”.
Make it reward mounts ,pets whatever other cosmetic. Well…I am sure people will be thrilled to get a 4645th mount or 3834th title.
Gear rewards? With delves, anything bellow champion or even hero track is “useless” so the gear reward wont be enough.
Make it reward hero/myth stuff and it becomes “forced” content for end-game PvE and PvP guys…
Or thow at us less mounts at the cost of getting rid of all those useless recolors. Create only unique mounts and put them behind reasonable requirement to be completed. Then never devalue them and never give it for free in the future.
Do this for extended period of time and players might once again find mounts attractive and not treat them like +1.
