Starting off I really like the war mode idea and it has been greatly improved with 8.2. Nazjatar map design clearly has some thought put into world pvp and I’ve had a great time there.
What I would like to suggest with the faction imbalance as a symptom-solution is just to buff up some of the guards so that when zerging occurs at flight points or base camps the zerg raid have to at least have some form of tactics to take the base.
I’m suggesting adding stronger healing, dps and tanking guards inside the base and buffing guards so that the zerging faction has to eliminate these guards in some tactical capacity with a healer, dps and mayb tank party.
This will also allow the less populated faction to stand a better chance at defending their outpost alongside the NPC’s in the base, tactically running and aggroing the pvp zerg into different NPCs so at the very least the zerg has divided attention and a harder time steamrolling a stronghold.
If you want to add a leader type system into the bases so if Jaina is aggroed she fights with far greater DPS and HP that the rest of the camp, allowing factions to stand alongside their leaders and defend against other players, also then causing zergs to be more careful not to go near her. Yet don’t make them too OP. Let a well rounded and tactical zerg be able to defeat them, giving an achievement but not killing the “boss”.
In the case of Jaina, she can simply freeze herself allowing ally players to still talk to her for quests while horde can no longer attack her but she is left in this “defeated” state for a certain time period.
I know we all want word pvp and as little pve as possible, but in WPVP “safe havens” must exist, they should not be impossible to “raid” but also not weak. They should exist in such a capacity that they are a “Last stand” for the few outnumbered faction players who refuse to give way to the enemy and to group up to make tactical plans and defend what is theirs against an onslaught of enemy faction toons.
It is important for them to have the low aggro range and to reset, go back fast.
This is my idea of a better experience, allowing the faction imbalances to have less of a negative impact and to give pvpers more of a rewarding feeling when the manage to camp an enemy base. As now it involves some co-operation even if you have the numbers.
This is by far not a solution to any of the problems we face, but I believe it will be a fun improvement
Of course, opinions are different and many will not agree or they will have better ideas. I am not of the mindset to “deactivate war mode”, I like pvp and I like that blizzard is giving it some attention, please let’s leave some helpful opinions and lets help them improve a system that has great potential
