I’m really passionate about housing and excited to see how positively it’s been received in recent months. After getting the chance to test it myself over the past few days, I put together this thread to share some ideas and feedback in one place.
Having spent quite a bit of time with other building games like Planet Zoo, Planet Coaster, and Prehistoric Kingdom, I’ve gathered a good sense of what features can make creative systems even more enjoyable — and I hope some of these thoughts might be helpful.
1 - Housing Zones in old Azeroth
I think it would be more meaningful in the long run to have housing neighborhoods set within our familiar zones after a revamp. It would breathe new life into the old world, add depth and character, and make us feel truly connected to it. It would also pave the way for introducing new biomes for our neighborhoods.
2 - Different House Plot Sizes
At the moment, all housing plots share the same size, which promotes fairness and equal opportunity for everyone. However, introducing varied plot sizes — including some placed directly beside each other — could make the system feel more dynamic and immersive. I’m certain that smaller or more compact plots would be just as popular as the larger ones.
3 - More Building Styles and Items
This one might seem obvious, but it’s still worth noting — the variety of furniture and decorative items will naturally expand over time, and new building styles will grow alongside them, which will inevitably happen as the system evolves. It’s a natural progression that will make housing even more engaging in the long run.
4 - Transportation Options within Neighborhoods
Beyond flight paths, adding thematic travel options would greatly enrich the roleplay experience — things like boat or raft rides, balloons, gondolas, ziplines, or animal-drawn carts. These kinds of immersive details would make the world feel more authentic and alive for roleplayers.
5 - Group Up Function
Enable grouping of multiple furniture pieces and items while preserving their size, position, rotation, and color — allowing for easier movement, duplication, and overall smoother building adjustments.
6 - Copy Paste Function
Allow copying of individual furniture pieces or entire groups while retaining their size, position, and rotation — making it much easier to paste and replicate setups during building and decoration.
7 - Align to Surface Function
Add a toggle option in build mode that automatically aligns furniture and items by their back or bottom side to the surface they’re placed on. For example, a mug would align its base to a wall, or a painting would align its back to the top of a table.
8 - Undo / Redo Function
Undo allows you to reverse your most recent action, stepping back one change at a time.
Redo performs the opposite, reinstating an action you’ve just undone — useful if you change your mind. Keep in mind that Redo is only available after using Undo.
9 - Multi Select
The Multi-Select function allows you to select several items at once instead of managing them one by one. It streamlines building by letting you move, scale, recolor, rotate, or delete objects as a group, making it much faster to rearrange larger spaces.
10 - Multiple Items Building Mode
A build mode that, when enabled, automatically reselects an item after placement — letting players place multiple copies of the same object without needing to reopen the menu and click on it each time.
11 - Blueprint Shop
A Blueprint Shop would let casual players earn gold by selling bundled decorative sets, complete rooms, or even entire houses — or share them freely if they prefer. Systems like this are already well-established in many other building games and would fit naturally here as well.
12 - Naming House Plots
Allowing players to give their plots custom names instead of relying on numbers would let roleplayers express personality, build distinct identities for their homes, and deepen immersion within their stories.
13 - Change Grid Size
An option to adjust the grid size in normal building mode would make precise placement much easier and more flexible, especially for players who prefer not to use Advanced Building Mode.
14 - Roaming Battle & Hunter Pets and Alts in Neighborhoods
While certain aspects might be more complex to implement technically, this feature would be a fantastic addition — and it’s reassuring to know it’s already being considered.
In my opinion, these are meaningful additions that would significantly enhance the housing system.
