In memoriam of the Dalaran and Shrine portals. R.I.P

Hello fellow readers. I would like to make a personal farewell. To the Dalaran and Shrine portals. Without them i would have not got that sweet transmog. Without them , i could have possibly never obtained the invincible mount. For it’s because of their existence , i was motivated to go out in the large world. Explore it , delve it secrets. Obtain loot , pets and mounts that otherwise would have been forgotten by time. They inspired me and others to make use of so called " dead content" . Farm materials unused by the masses.

These portals were not always in my life. Before they came into creation. Shattrah or a capitalist mage was all we had for easy locomotion. I wish to offer my gratitude to these portals. Without them i would never have got the 350 mount achievement.

So long portals , you will be missed by me and several million players.

Adieu.

FFXIV, ESO, GW2… All these games are flooded with portals. Two of them even got flying along with it, and shockingly enough they are not detrimental to the feeling about the size of the world.

There is a video on youtube showing how much time aoe looting saves over just looting corpses individually.

Before aoe looting if you played 10 days in game you could easily spend uptoo 2 of those days just looting.

Removal of portals blows. Really does. Used my Dalaran HS every single day to get to Org so I could get to Zuldazar, leaving my HS at the harbour.

Put a shredder in the harbour and it won’t be as annoying I guess.

I LoL’d.
Real hard.

Problem with WoW is there is nothing making the world relevant. As a GW2 player I can say that even with all the waypoints across the maps and the new mounts, there is still stuff to do between locations.

World Events and achievement/collection objectives make almost every part of Tyria well travelled. Azeroth doesn’t have this. Once you’ve completed a zone there is little to no need to return. Condensing portals down means you at least need to fly over those forlorn zones now.

You could just take part in the main discussion

This post wasn’t meant to be an argument. There is already a lengthy thread on that. It’s just a personal thanks and goodbye for these portals. Nothing else was meant by it. If people interpret that differently that is not by my doing. I will truly and dearly miss them. Without them my achievement , mount hunting expeditions probably would have never started back in mists. Those portals had a huge impact on my game play outside of raiding.

I thought the primary-city portal was going to remain? (It does in Pandaria…)

Nobody was being mean hun honestly its just that its best all in one thread .

Takes me 3 minutes to fly to Strath from the Dalaran Crater.
It takes me 7 minutes to fly to Strath from Ironforge.

Been using them today (like most days) and the difference today was: every time I said some swear words because I remembered from tomorrow on I won’t be able to.

So much fun, such bigger world

By the grace of almighty and all knowingly Blizz, all the portals belongs in SW/Orgri, and outer hubs are allowed just portals to SW/Orgri. Hereby all other portals shall be purged so gamers can finally appreciate the beauty and variety of content world has to offer.

Or some similar crap that try (and fail) to hide shamelessly /played metric padding.

Maintenance has now began, the portals are being removed one by one as we now speak.

Noooo! My portals! How dare you Blizz

Heart of Fear and ToT will be an absolute pain, now you have to fly across the entire continent.

Who thought Jade Forest would be a good idea? Does anyone actually go to Jade Forest to do anything?
