Incorrect loot tables for many mobs

A lot of the Vanilla mobs people used to farm for grey items in order to afford mount at level 40 has been HEAVILY nerfed on Classic servers. For instance, the Swamp Jaguar in the Swamp of Sorrows. In Vanilla this mob used to have 60-65% chance of dropping Long Soft Tail among other greys and white items. One stack of those sold for ~70-80 silver to vendor, which made farming the mobs quite lucrative when you’re trying to squeeze some gold out of the game to afford training and mount.

The same thing is happening with mobs all across the continents, including Badlands.

Anyone else experience incorrect loot tables with Classic mobs?

Well no, since i don’t have that good of a memory that i could remember loot tables /drop rates from 14 years ago.

You don’t need to remember anything, the data is there. It was collected on sites like Thottbot for anyone to see. Currently on live Classic server the item I mentioned (Long Soft Tail) isn’t dropping at all. That’s either a bug or a nerf. In either case it needs to be adressed.

I know a old farm spot that still work and give a lot of gold but its a secret

I am aware of other spots, but that’s not really the point, now is it?

Yes these seem to be WAYYYYY off. I noticed this @swamp jaguars. fix this, or atleast tell us its nerfed, or i’m cancelling my subscription.
Theres no point on playing if i cant make mount money while leveling.

hm strange - tbh i feel like the droprates of greens are much higher then back in the day . i may be remembering wrong but i dont rememebr vendoring/selling so many of them

The percentages on classicdb arent exactly accurate. They made sure it was relevant for the most popular private servers.

You just need to find different loot, drop rate on other greys are higher

Why would they adjust any loot tables? Probably was nerfed before 1.12.

Well to be fair there’s the chance that highest level content loot could be bugged, since it wasnt vigorously tested.

But low level loot surely wouldnt be, so many nerds did 1-40 over and over

I also in my thirties reported this bug, but seems noone cares. Most Swamp Jaguars have empty bodies

I think the problem is that you re taking drop rates of these items from pservers as one that is correct. Also saw SoS jaguars farm on youtube (pserver videos), tried it and it didn’t work so I moved on. Saying that data is wrong based on pserver “knowledge” is naive.

farming grey and lucrative ;D two things that dont match

It actually can be. Basilisks on shimmering flats can drop 2 gray items that vendor for 11s total. So at level 40 you can kill them and get up to 11s per mob plus chances on green/grey gear that also can have nice vendor value.

Omg, aiming for dramaqueen of the year?

It has been standard m.o. of Blizz over the years to stealth-nerf farms spots that get popularized on the Fora and Youtube (e.g. the Trogg ridge, dragon place in Deepholm/that Cata zone I can’t be bothered to look up) which is why argueably people shouldn’t be talking about farming spots too much in public.

Which is annoying, as by trying to help people you are actually helping nobody in the semi-long run.

I for one would rather have Blizz tackle actual exploits and those profitting from them but so far it seems they still don’t want to accept that maybe, given the appeal of Classic, they made bad policy decisions in the past they shouldn’t be replicating in Classic.

I remember bears dropping more Rotten Bear Carcasses which vendors for like 1,50 s. I have only seen 3 or 4 so far in Classic and wondered.
But on the other hand I also think I get more green items in loot.
PS: I never played on Pservers.

You really need to provide some data instead of memories or private server experiences for these claims to be taken seriously.

I’m not saying you’re wrong or anything, these statements just don’t have much value without reliable source to back them up. Still hoping Blizzard investigates these claims.

I did not take many screenshots way back then (Partly because of the strange format screenies came in - good they did not keep this in Classic  ), so proof is hard to come by. I just remember the carcasses cause I alvays found a spot for this in my full bags (then as now) and has not had it happen as often as I remember
.

What was the droprate shown on Wowhead Classic for those mobs?
