If Blizz proposed a 5 euro a month increase but promised to add 30% more
features, development and support to the game would you go for it? Tbh we have
been sitting arounf the price point for 15 years. Although thats great and makes it
accessible, I would happily pay more if it meant getting more from the game.
Before anyone kicks off, its a theoretical in a forum of which i have no power to make
happen. Its not going to happen so chill. I am just curios as to the pro and cons I havent
thought about
Some people will keep paying it to be able to play but I think Blizzard is in a position currently where increasing the monthly cost to play the game will ultimately lose them players. Those who do pay monthly will begin to see value elsewhere.
One more thing, more money doesnât mean you will get more features and given the recent few expansions Blizzard hasnât been too successful with new features.
And in that time theyâve added numerous other things that you can spend your money on like mounts and character services. They have their extra sources of income for development here.
Thereâs no guarantee and I think its a bit naĂŻve to think like that.
Just look at other contract/subscription based industries, youâre paying more than several years back but not really getting extra value and that only really changes with those which have family oriented plans like music streaming where you can have several people under a single cost for example.
No if they increased the costs i dont think the game would be worth it anymore ( If it is already) . The game already has the costs of the base game+ expansion+ subscription and having an ingame store and servces to pay for. I donât know any other game wich is more pricy than this. They have not given us the content worth this price in ages, so why should there be any justified price increase. Let them prove they are worth the current cost first.
If anything they should be getting rid of the subscription cost or make the game f2p with the current lack of content while still having a disgusting amount of store transactions for a p2p game
No, we pay enough as it is.
And money isnât their issue.
If they stopped spending resources on dumb systems that they then spend half an expansion on fixing only to drop it in the end and start over, we could already be getting better core systems and content.
Dragonflight is already looking promising but Iâm not gonna have too much hope up since its blizzard afterall.
money isnt the issue. blizzard makes a crap ton of money. the leadership and organisation is. other games do just fine with less or the same sub price.
i d say wow isnt even worth its money right now and hasnt been for quite a while. so if they increase the price, it would give people a nice incentive to jump ship for good, i know i would. because lets face it. actions speak louder than words. if they wanted 5⏠more a month from me, they d need to show me for 1-2 maybe 3 expansions first that they are actually worth the 5⏠more and can live up to their promises.
before that, blizzards promises are worth absolutely nothing to me. they have to gain goodwill back which they have squandered over the years first before they can work up the courage to knock on my door and ask for more money.
If they just promise then def. no, because we all now todays blizzars tends to lie a lotâŠi have to see the 30% first, maybe then i would pay⊠hm no no even then actually
First of all, not all EU countries are Western European. 5 euro is a big money in my country, lol.
Second, you are talking about a multi-billionaire company that doesnât have any problems with money, so I disagree about increasing the cost. Itâs not about the money, they have enough of it. Itâs just they are not willing to satisfy PC gamers needs anymore. They think mobile is better.
Blizzard has a whole team of psychologists to analyze if the game is addictive enough etc. They probably also check how much they can reel in max these days. Higher subs would lead to enough unsubs, thatâs why they went for the tokens combined with extra âfear of missing outâ content so people would buy them to spend ingame.
