incursion exp is too low! each quest gives 28k exp, all of them gave me only 35% exp! im pretty sure legion invasion quests give 89k exp!
I don’t think Blizzard want people levelling via incursions.
You should rephrase that sentence to:
I don’t think Blizzard wants you to achieve things on a more swift note.
They want to drag it down to extend your subscription time.
Im not sure incursions have a point at all TBH. They dont give you enough experience to make them worthwhile for leveling and most of the time they reward gear below your ilvl at max so really, why do them?
They’re only good for WPvP, nothing more.
Rephrase that, we should only level the way blizzard wants us to.
I can appreciate they don’t want to encourage the gameplay of “Do Invasion on all your alts, then log out and wait for the next one.” No, it isn’t fun for those that want to claim it is. It is EFFICIENT, which most certainly isn’t the same as fun.
WoW players really do seem to struggle with this flawed concept of fasterer=morerer fun.
Saying that, they should award a bit more, and that’s because it isn’t the same as comparing it to normal quests, dungeons or Islands, as those are always available. The main problem is the final hand-in feels very weak-- it should award much more XP, something like 60-80k.
They shouldn’t award more than about 50% of a level however, because if they did it would end up being “Invasion, log out, Invasion.” I don’t care, again, if you want to do that-- it is degenerate gameplay being encouraged and that is wrong.
Thought they gave a buff upon completion that made post-incursion xp-farming more efficient.
Well incursions are not meant to be a leveling thing. Be happy its six quick quests that give a very high(in BfA zone terms) experience bump. Go enjoy some quests, do some dungeons or something.
The Legion Assualt experience were introduced WAAAAY later in the expansion compared then incursions… perhaps the naga invasions in 8.2 will provide about the same as legion assualts(doubt it).
The thing is that leveling 7 characters to level 120 is always going to be tedious so I would gladly use my time efficiently to do it. If you don’t like that type of gameplay than simply don’t do it.
At the announcement of incursion Ion stated that they would be a good way to level alts.
I agree, they should give 2 or 3 times the Exp than at the moment, so ist just boring.
Not even that, it’s just full with raids ganking soloers.
Well they are… compared to ordinary questing they give far higher experience and the experience buff upon completion. But did Ion ever mention the incursions whould replace other sources of experience?
No he didn’t and that’s a fair point but if you don’t need them to level or to gear there is very little point to them. You can probably get more experience doing pet battles.
There’s just as much point to the incursion as a leveling tool as any other activity in the game. You get a bump in experience doing them but that’s it.
I think it’s also the point, developers didn’t want players too feel forced to do them and rather see the incursion as a nice little side activity to supplement the leveling process or the expansion as a whole. The rewards ain’t overly generous while at the same time not being entierly lacklusting.
Then what is the point of them? An extra emissary of WQ’s that take a bit longer than normal?
We have to learn not to trust in Ion’s word, this guy has a special look at the reality.
Levelling via questing isn’t fun for everyone either. Giving us the choice to play how we want to is far better.
Not to mention having just three zones makes levelling many alts incredibly dull.
Incursions will stop being fun for exactly the same reasons.
It is basic game design to not make one avenue overly lucrative.
The problem that has always existed with WoW is what I have always called the “Bulldozer System” with each expansion obliterating the content of the last. What this inevitably leads to is people being bored with staying on the same small continent-- because the game actually never EXPANDS in the way an EXPANSION suggests. It replaces everything that came before, which is utter madness, because it means the game never actually grows in scope.
In many ways vanilla was the largest WoW has ever been.
Why aren’t there dynamic events that scale for everyone? Just imagine a Defias attack on Westfall outdoor scenario that lasts for a few days, and only appears once a month or so? How about Ogres attacking in Ferelas? Naga in Desolace.
There are so many ways that would be cheap to implement that could add a huge amount of variety to levelling up characters.
