slow, very slow Initializing. updating retail wow, about 300 mb, may be 1mb per minute. at best. on average, mostly slower, sometime stuck.
i tried restart both app and machine, connection speed is great, no overload cpu, ram, ssd load. netowork working properly. more than twice capacity of space. router stand next to machine.
but initializing is very slow.

Got same issue, Blizz fix your sh!t or pay back game time 
Edit: Just got VPN and changed location and it worked, download speed now is great. Thank you Blizzard
now, 213 mb to initialize. speed drop to 100 kB per minute. just checked, other huge ame on other platform, downloading in about 25 min, near 100 GB. just checked.

Got same problem. Tried reseting computer, turning off and on modem, stoping and restarting update, deleting cache, connecting via different isp, mobile hotspot. Nothing worked. My speedtest shows 96.79 Mbps download. Some other major launchers downloads games normally. Yet, battle.net launcher says Initializing (11,92/291.85 MB) for WOW retail and with that speed, process will take hours.
Edit: Someone in this thread mentioned using VPN works. Sadly i cannot use it. Does Blizzard geo-bottleneck download requests? Or is there a bad cache server near us?
I just had the same problem and added a LIMIT to download speed of 10000kb/s … suddenly download speed increased to about 2-3mb/s
so they stop at 11 mb and didnt move at all. before says 212mb to download. now 222. there something wrong at everything
I have the same issue. I did everything i can (resetting modem/computer) , closing the launcher e.t.c nothing worked. 92/233MB for 50 minutes.

Same here, have been trying to update the game for the last 30 minutes for what seems to be a tiny patch. This is unacceptable.

Same to me, i dont have access to vpn and i dont need them. Blizz what happend with you. You do very good direct and that suprise for us ?

This isn’t the first time that this happens to me, this must be the 4th in the last few months. Last time I couldn’t play for 2 hours, then I just went to sleep, next day it patched properly. Pausing, tweaking options, restarting (both PC and router) don’t help.

181 / 223 MB after more than an hour. I can’t even understand what is happening with the Blizz servers.
about 5h overall. about 300 mb initialization 10-100kb per minute. about 50 mb download in 22kb/s or less. and now I got in.
only wow isnt updating, wow refuse to update
tried updating diablo and overwatch 2, everything is working except wow
