So, I’ve been running Kara for Mongoose enchant for literally a year now (Thanks 2006 Blizzard, what a fun gameplay feature). I generally don’t ask for inspect because it’s Kara and frankly since I run at like 9 am server time I can’t exactly be picky. Last week I happened to get 2 prot paladins in blue gear with even some greens and healers in a mix of blues and badge/t4 epics. Most of the dps were of course all in T6 running the place just for quick badges.
The run was a complete crapshow, the tanks got endless abuse for non-existant threat and slow pulling, the healers got abuse for just having the tanks outright die on trash pulls. In the end 2 dps just left after a 2nd wipe on Nightbane and the group disintegrated.
Needless to say, this week I inspected all my tanks and healers at A’dal and actually rejected one green healer and two laughably blue paladins, on of them with literally 11.9k health.
Green dps makes the run 10min longer amd doesn’t overaggro. Green tank and/or healer makes the run impossible or at least super painful for all involved.
I’d love to just get people off the street, I really would. I love seeing people getting decked out in my runs with no epics DE’d. But I owe it to other players to have the rin actually finish, and in a reasonable time. So I inspect at A’dal.
I definitely feel for you on this. On the other hand, there’s no doubt some people bring it too far - like I once had my near 1k spellpower ele shaman refused a ZA run because “I wasn’t geared enough”. The irony is, I ended up joining another run that same night and even won the damn bear. And the other group was still searching by the time we downed Nalorakk. Some ppl really need a reality check - on both ends of the equipment spectrum.
Need full Kara gear to get into Kara group.
Or even many pieces of t5 gear from GDKP first
Like I explained, there is a huge mismatch. If you have blue geared people tank for BT BiS dps with a couple of SWP items, neither is gonna have a good time.
Yeah a tank in blues can tank kara for blue geared dps and have it be 3h+ run, but people expect it to take an hour these days, and to pull 3 trash packs at a time. And to blast on bosses after a tank lands one hit. And conversely, why have 800 dps scrub if you can have 2000 dps raidlogger running for badges.
Yeah, i can understand the optimal requirements for a tank since its needed for the aggro on the better geared players.
What people do logs ? , you do know that if you are NEVER in a run where someone does LOGS u will NEVER have any logs … i know its as mindblowing as Faction change buyers rite !
and GDKP screwed that ideology right up ! , you can literally have a fresh 65 get gruul/maggy then @ 68 buy all kara gear and at 70 get full T5 for peanuts these days…
Gear means nothing these days as any scrub can buy it
Then I would still rather take a geared scrub than a scrub with no gear.
Cuck spotted.
that I remember seeing “poke me at adal” while back in retail tbc
???
But if you have a good gear you shouldn’t be worried
the inspect is for those who pick the WRONG way to play the game so it can be corrected
This is retail in a nut-shell. However TBCC doesn’t operate like this.
Most of the time “inspect at adal” is for GDKP, unless you’re trying to Pug Sunwell
If you’re trying to pug sunwell you’re playing the game wrong.
You couldn’t be more wrong if you tried.
Then post on your main instead of dancing around the obvious answer to your problem using an alt.
I dislike being told how to play the game.
I also dislike the idea that you need to have already done the dungeon/raid in question to be let into it, if you have to prove it by being inspected or by linking Achievements is a minor matter.
This is one of the reasons RDF was introduced in wotlk. Because otherwise many (new) players couldnt find simple dungeon groups to catch up due to the gatekeeping. With this they had at least a chance to get acceptable gear, although even that was rarely enough to get into raids without achievements.

Most ZA I’ve seen are “inspect at Ad’al” too, and for good reason - I for one wouldn’t look forward to bringing a blue-geared char there. I’ve once ended up in a run where one of the two healers was a blue-geared priest, and it wasn’t fun to say the least.
Though it’s true that sometimes this is taken a bit too far, as with the Karazhan examples above.
Question, Maybe not too this topic but I can’t help myself asking this here as alot of you clearly have loot experience.
I’ll soon be 70 on my TBC Mage, obviously have questing gear and a little dungeon green/blues.
But if I look at the pre-raid bis list I notice I have some of these items.
How do I join a raid if everyone is looking for purple items, if I already have some pre-raid bis items? Wouldn’t the next logical step be too start raiding? How can I do that if ppl don’t accept green/blue itemd players.
