If you guys have not already noticed 2s/3s/rbg/shuffle MMR is really low right now!
Your first thought would be “Oh they probably have no participation” Well you’d be completely wrong, the data shows 2s/3s/shuffle has just the same participation as Blitz does yet we’re thousands of rating apart.
This is because they are intentionally capping the MMR in other brackets to “promote” the blitz bracket, when i say promote i mean it in a way to where it’s the easiest bracket to get rewards from so people are funnelled into it.
Even with this handicap shuffle still has more participation than blitz which is completely crazy considering nobody can even get rewards from this bracket
Which sort of makes sense i guess you want people to play the new things that blizzard put time and effort into i guess?
But harming the other brackets by capping the mmr meaning nobody can even get CLOSE to get rewards from it is a whole other issue.
It’s blatant abuse of player time and love for the game even touching the mmr AT ALL is completely disgusting in my opinion

STOP CAPPING MMR IN OTHER BRACKETS LET US GET REWARDS AND HIGHER RATINGS IN OTHER BRACKETS
Before anyone even attempts to say " you’re wrong, there’s no cap " go look at the data before even replying because they did this exact thing in Season 1 of Dragonflight to “promote” solo shuffle
Yea it sucks - and it’s actually ridiculous. I stopped playing solo Q arena because of it, a game mode that I really like to play. But there’s no point in playing with the cap. I’d probably be hard stuck at 1850-ish so I rather don’t play. I only used it to get the 1600 token quickly then I quit. I don’t understand why Blizzard is doing this, besides trying to promote BG Blitz, which is fun, but I also don’t see why they have to kill the other solo game mode because of it. Makes no sense.
I remember thinking in DF that shuffle was the worst thing they could possibly have added to the game, but along comes bg blitz and reminds us of that it can always get worse.
Genuinely curious how they thought this clown fiesta deserves being a ranked mode. Who did they think would enjoy this? It’s just random bg, but with ranked rewards.
Yeah i guess this is true to an extent. The mmr system is “kinda” flawed when you have 8 people in each team, as there is alot of rng involved.
For example, there will be cases where people who belong in 1500 mmr, will end up at 2500 because they highrolled a team many times in a row. I’m playing at 3k mmr, and every other game, someone who is completely clueless but on a “lucky” winstreak ends up in those lobbies and has 0 idea what to do.
There’s also people who will accidentally be at significantly lower mmr than they deserve because they are lowrolling on their teams.
However, statistically if you are playing well, when u put in alot of games, your rating will gravitate towards where you belong, its just a more volatile process than the other brackets.
I think blitz is good to have because bgs have been neglected for a VERY long time and they are good content, i just wish shuff and 3s mmr was also not gutted.
Yea I get your points, I just hate how the devs find a new way to further dilute the playerbase with every expansion now.
But indeed, the largest issue is that the mmr needs to be uncapped asap before everyone quits until the last weeks of the season again. This crap was going on all of DF already with every season (except the last one), and we all know how fun that was.
The combination of no communication and locking down an entire bracket like this is infuriating. People already come and go to WoW as a whole, we don’t need this tinkering this MMR carousel on top of that, affecting participation every expansion. They should overhaul the entire system. But before that, remove the cap for heavens sake. I love shuffle but I refuse to queue when they artificially stagger the entire bracket.
the PO/PMs ensured to have satisfying numbers to give to the executive committee by simply blatantly rigging the f out of their system by making all others brackets unattractive to get rewards so people who want them play blitz

To be honest, I’m pretty sure that they want to get rid of arena entirely. AWC generating some engagement is probably the only reason why arena is still supported at all.
The effort which they put into arena is minimal. 2v2 MMR has been broken, Shuffle healer MMR has been broken, Shuffle queue time as dps has been broken, balance is notoriously bad (they just constantly change the fotm instead of trying to reach an equal playing field) and now MMR is broken everywhere except for the new game mode. Nobody is asking for a hyper inflated season where the top people get to 4k CR but god damn, blizzard is really acting like being a bit too generous is the worst thing that could happen.
The reason why they’re forcing people to play blitz is because it takes an eternity to push rating with +24s, so they let mmr inflate to a ridiculous amount to keep people subbed & playing.
I mean there is a market psychology behind it, to attract as many people as possible and also because of this

I think everyone will agree with you, especially because higher mmr also means higher dopamine levels, but like u said Blizzard wanted to do it this way, because some bwl Ceo thought this will be a good idea to getting more money short term.
do blizzard care, if it will harm the Playerbase in long term? obviously not, its just sad : /
Capitalism has reduced extreme poverty by 90% since its inception 200 years ago. I think in the grand scheme of things, capitalism has been a good thing.
overall yes, but it becomes a problem when society becomes wealthier, what leads to a higher chance for war, and make the rich people even richer
I know there is more to it, and I don’t want to sound like a Doomer
but if it comes to things like Games, or to the quality of products in general, is captialism a bad thing, not because of its own (its great) but because of the human nature, and the money minmaxing mentality
I was about to dive deep into the pros and cons of capitalism, but I don’t want to end up tying myself up all night! I think your points are valid; there are definitely good and bad aspects of capitalism. However, I just don’t think we have a solid alternative yet.
