Interrupt is completely out of control in pvp

As a shadow priest I basically feel like a target dummy when melee gets on me, especially after the massive nerfs this patch. To make matters worse we only use one spell school, so hitting interrupt on a short cooldown is basically like an I WIN button for melee. If the answer is “learn to fake cast”, by the time I’ve “tricked” the melee into wasting their interrupt they’ve already smashed away a quarter of my health, with another interrupt on its way shortly. If melee can so easily lock us down with interrupt, then why aren’t casters given disarm as well? I’m sure melee would love the experience of being locked out of all their spells constantly.

You have no PvP experience?

because the melee shouldn’t be allowed to stay on you by your other 9-14 team mates, casters do idiotic levels of damage in pvp if they are not solid locked down.

Wow shadow priests are doing insane dmg compared to DH and rogue? Didn’t realize. 15 second cooldown on disrupt/silence is absurd in pvp. I would love to see how melee would respond if casters could disarm them every 15 sec and disable all their abilities.

It’s not that bad. You have a variety of tools to prevent them to stay on you in the first place. Furthermore, you can’t win this alone (especially against multiple meeles). You need support from your team mates.

As for the interrupts : bait them. Start your cast, cancel it right away, they waste their interrupts and you don’t get locked because you weren’t casting anymore. It requires a bit of practice but you can learn that.

 Do list these tools?

I swear if casters were given disarm with 15 second CD there would be a bigger outcry and mass threats to quit than when they removed flying in WOD.

Mind controle with a cast time, interruptable, will be interrupted.
Psychic scream, 1 min cd
Silence, interrupt? Dunno what i would use it on, on the melee without anything castable. Also 45 sec cd because you listed Psychic horror
Psychic horror, 45 sec cd, gonna work fine i think…

This, juke and you can cast uninterupted for a time, it’s a large part of what seperates an experienced and inexperienced pvper.

Its always been. If you have two melees on you, you will not cast anything with a substantial cast time.

Yes, I’ll try to trick the DH into silencing me by cancelling my own spells, and by the time I finally tricked him into using his interrupt I’ve already wasted more time than the disrupt/silence would have lasted while doing zero dmg :joy: And in a few seconds his disrupt is back up.

Definently takes practice and depends on their skill too, less experienced players will hammer interrupt the second they see a cast bar and experienced players will wait for crucial spells to interrupt or the very last second to avoid being juked.(or certain spell clases depending on opponent)

Also against melee dps creating space basically nullifies most of their damage and forces certain plays, depending on where you are pvping or who you are pvping with it is an effective way of shutting down their damage.

Saying that, between a warrior and demon hunter it’s tough to create that space

Psychic horror used to disarm aswell as fear.
Don’t know what the reason to change it was though.

Why do u even care about PVP when Blizzard doesnt even have a PVP department  :joy:

Indeed, silencing an enemy completely stops them connecting with a shadow priest.

Thanks for the pro tips.

(Stahp please, its pathetic) It’s been a given for ever that in shadow you need to play 3’s and have your team peel for you.

I wasn’t asking for a copy pasta of abilities from wowhead. I was asking what stuff can realistically keep melee off you from your toolkit. The answer you’ve given is nothing.

Discipline? I don’t think I’ve interrupted a lot of casts from shadow priests that weren’t Mass dispel. Also shadow has quite a few decent pvp talents to handle melees.

To me it feels like you’re looking at 1v1 scenarios and expect all the classes to have a fair shot at a 1v1, and tbh, that’s not how PvP works, or should work, for that matter. Yeah sure, it’s frustrating to get beat up in said 1v1 scenarios, especially if it’s something silly such as UH DK in an open world scenario, but if the classes were balanced around each and every one having a shot in a 1v1, actual pvp such as arena would be horrible.

I recommend skilling Greater Fade. Stuff helps. And Psyfiend to kite. Intangibility is also a pretty good talent.

Gotta love melees telling you “well, just learn to fake-cast, DUH you noob!” when all their attacks are instant cast and uninterruptible.

Playing a Shadow Priest or Affliction in 3v3 arena is still a nightmare though.
Not only do you only have a single school of magic, but there are now two melees on you who interrupt your cast with kicks and micro-interrupts, stuns, reflects & so on.

Is it?

Discipline?

Fire Mages and Destro Locks?

I really don’t feel like that’s too much of an issue. Sword Pain is an instant, Vamp Touch rarely gets interrupted and when melees sit on you, you care more about getting them off of you, rather than trying to cast. That’s what Greater Fade and Body & Soul / Intangibility are for, right? Not sure what you’re getting kicked on, other than Mind Control or Shadow Mend and well, while I understand it’s frustrating to fight DHs because I find them too easy and too strong at the same time, but I don’t think the issue is the kick they have, rather the other 300 things they have in their toolkit. The other melees I don’t find that annoying, but perhaps I’m just not good enough to see these issues, who knows.

Most likely.
Besides, you’re focusing on Shadow whilst ignoring Affliction & mentioning the busted specs (Fire, Destruction).
That’s like stating “melees have no issues because Demon Hunters do well”.
