As of this morning, the game won’t launch for me at all. It was working fine last night, but now when I try to start it whether through the launcher or directly via the .exe nothing happens.
I haven’t changed anything on my system.

Arhh fixed it with a scan and repair - just a me issue it seems.

Had the same issue and worked it out with a scan and repair too.
I think it’s because we’re gonna have new downloadable content soon, it tends to happen before a patch.

I also can’t install any updates for any games. Battle.net Launcher dead and no fixes work.

Same issue, no version of WoW will launch. No scan and repair alternative for me though? It’s just gray.

Same here, game doesn’t load and option to scan and repair is not available :\
UPDATE: So it seems that after 10 minutes WoW is now opening all my failed attemtps to load the game and ended up with around 20 open instances of wow. Working fine at the moment at least.
Me 2, doing a scan and repair right now.
This fix worked for me and a few friends having the issue.
- Exit battle.net launcher and end all its tasks in Task Manager
- Press Windows Key + R to open Run menu and enter
“c:\programdata” then hit Enter to open that folder - In that folder find Battle.net folder and delete the whole thing. Don’t delete Battle.net_components though
- Restart battle.net, it’ll restore the deleted folder and fix any corrupt files it might’ve had
- Cataclysm Classic says Install now. Click “already installed” under the blue install button and navigate to your World of Warcraft main folder, add that.
- Cataclysm Classic says Update. Update the client and your wow should launch again.

It started last night for me, with retail wow taking a long time to launch. Today it was both versions. As for retail a scan and repair solved it once. Doing the same for classic now.
The step by step solution above looks promising though.

Do you mean it takes that long for the client to appear after clicking play? If so try adding “-d3d11” into the additional command line arguments in your battle.net launcher Game Settings. This forces the game to launch using DX11 instead of DX12, which can sometimes speed up the launch time.

Yeah game just didnt launch like 10 mins, it is can be found in task mannager eating 100-200mb of ram and zero CPU usage, but after sometime its starting.
OK its happening again - Clearly wider issue here on Blizzard side.
Hopefully they implement a fix.
