Is botting while multiboxing even punished?

So i’ve subbed back to wow and even tho i don’t like at all the new patch i decided to spend time farming golds and levelling alts, but so far i noticed an absurd amount of multiboxing bots (you can easily tell they are botting because they don’t make the same actions at all, i even saw someone position all the bots one after another while being watched by me farming in the area)
So far i tried on more than 1 servers and i can tell that at least this zone is farmed 24/7 by bots in multiple servers, not caring at all about anything (and they’re right to do that since i’ve reported them but so far nothing really happened)

So my question is, does blizz care about that or are they just more lenient about multiboxing bots because they pay for multiple accounts?

The pics are from today, since this afternoon they didn’t stop spinning and farming a minute

They apprently just banned 70k people for botting, So yes I think they do care.

Isn’t that just for Classic?

I think it’s retail too, I might be wrong though, I’m sure someone will correct me If I am.

" Blizzard bans 74,000 World of Warcraft Classic botters"

This is from WoWhead!

Can’t post links yet

I wonder what the number is for retail then, Can’t see them targetting classic but not retail.

Classic has insane number of botters and multiboxers, I tried to level my undead and was happy that there were 5 more players, till I realized it was a same person controlling them.

I’m not saying retail doesn’t have as much, in retail those Suramar botters/multiboxers are there for 3 months now on argent dawn. Everyone reports them and they are still there.

That might have just been a multiboxer leveling, The ones farming surumar over and over are 99.99% chance of being bots though. If you’re unsure it’s still worth reporting though. I’ve multiboxed myself and I wouldn’t mind a player right clicking my name to report me if they wheren’t sure, As I know a gm would be able to tell im not botting from a mile away.

Well i’m happy if they really banned 70k people, but actually, i’m trying to farm that zone since 3 days on multiple servers and i haven’t found it without 4-5 druid spamming everything in their sight a single minute (again i’m referring to what are most likely bots)

No problem…

Just write down the link then highlight it and click the </> button.

The problem with banning botters is that, unless they somehow get hold of the botted gold, the bots will just be back in no time.

This story was debated hundreds of times on this forum. 99% of the playerbase disagree with multi-boxing, yet Blizzard does nothing. It’s a waste of time to reason with a company that doesn’t care about what the majority thinks.
By not taking any action, basically Blizzard send you this message: “take it or leave it” . Simple as that.

i think so too, but i was just hoping for some sort of feedback from them seeing how they are looking a bit more transparent with all the interviews they are doing about shadowlands, but yeah i guess that if they will continue to ignore such a blatant problem it’s more of a facade than anything.
I just hope some streamer will ask them head on then

They ban in waves. Particularly with botting as they like to catch everyone using the same bot programme and catch them all in one go.

Not all multiboxers are bots. Multiboxing is a permitted gameplay style. I would like to see them break multibox farming.

As a multiboxer I wouldn’t mind seeing rules brought into place if you start effecting the other playerbase, Not all multiboxers do what people are complaining about. I wouldn’t do anything that harms other players directly like some people.

For example it’s not against the rules to use your Yak in game but it is to block a portal.

For example: You should not be signing up for group content without the groups permission, including in pvp.

I would never sign up for LFG or LFR or BG as I don’t find it fair on other players, I mainly do old raids to have better chance of transmorg and do my world quests, I don’t see how that’s an issue with other players.

Also banning multiboxing because of bots won’t stop multiboxing bots, they are breaking the rules, They aren’t going to follow a set of rules because Blizzard set them out or they just wouldn’t bot.

You also can’t say something is allowed and let people spend money on extra accounts and subs then take it away from them randomly. Setting boundaries is acceptable for both sides.

I only have 3 accounts btw, I like running my old raids with a cloth, mail leather or plate user to complete all the things. People like to tarnish people with a brush with bots.

Banning in waves once a month doesen’t seem a good way to handle it, if you let a multiboxing bot farm a month (or even a week) 24/7 he’s just gonna buy another 120 account with the gold he makes and keep accumulating the margin of profit he’s done

While i don’t really agree on multiboxing at all (you’re using a program to multiplicate your actions, hence you are literally not doing all the actions your characters are making) i don’t really care if someone uses multiboxing for purposes like yours, what i obv do not approve is abusing the hell out multiboxing to take control of entire areas instantly tagging every mob.

i do undestand your point, fact is that botting would be less severe without multiboxing, but, at the end of the day i just feel that the problem is the lack of GM’s who once upon a time existed in Mmorpgs to fix those quality of life issues on the spot (like a zone being unacessible for 4 days straight)
