Because the games are ultimately different. FF14 is also appealing to a different crowd than WoW does. And then you have the bunch who also despise “weeb games”
I don’t despise weeb games by default, but I do despise the overly feminine, pretty aesthetic of FF. It just feels off to me. And I like nice looking things; I’m not really into playing badazz characters with spikes and all, but FF just does it in a way that makes me feel icky. Their stuff is just ugly to me.
Then again; I’ve never been into the FF franchise, period. Or JRPGs in general, for that matter.

Thats probably the main reason. At least they dont completely go over the top unlike some korean MMOs in regards of how characters look.

Lots of good memories of that game, but I suppose it was more the people I played with than the game itself.
Better than Shadowlands? Yes. Better than Wow in general? no.

WoW has no bosses that are famous for non-lore reasons either.

My point was that FF14 is not famous because of ENDGAME not many cares about ENDGAME in FF14 simply because you can’t be competitive like you can be in WOW
when people talk about FF they talk about story and leveling and crafting and housing? all that
I never heard things like GUYs come play ff14 this raid or dungeons is COOL and all that
When i watch streams there are people doing leveling almost all the time
When you watch wow streams you see people doing high keys PVP raids there is not many people doing Lore stuff on streams and me and my friends never played WOW because of lore we played because of gameplay
it’s CLEAN it’s smooth it has everything what you expect
Wow since wotlk is on top of the WORLD with endgame that what was my point
there is no better game then wow designed around endgame
And if there is a game like that it’s certainly not FF14

I think both are good and really fun, they’re just different.
to me ff14 is more casual focused (it does have the elitest min max raiding side too if u want it)…
but the dev team actually put a bit of effort in for casuals too … and for that ff14 will always beat wow until the day it changes.
You would think FF would be the perfect game for me then. But nope.

Well… I did. And sure, I only experienced the lower end of the leveling experience because I only put a little over 50 hours into it, but still… I didn’t like what I saw/did/experienced.
The story was confusing, not interesting, weird. The quests were dull and very basic.
Gameplay itself slow and bothersome. It didn’t ‘feel good’ to press buttons, whilst in WoW it does; even with simpler specs.
I dunno… It’s just not for me. Which is fine.
All the talk about it gets a bit irritating though.

I tried it too and looking objectively, it is a much worse game.
It’s just overhyped right now mostly because some people are agry at Blizz and they want show it. Some kind of strike. Most of them will go back to WoW anyway. And most of them never quit WoW actually. They play ff14 as a side game.
Public mood is changing rapidly. Now some people hate Blizz for something. Later they’ll praise Blizz. Someday they’ll hate even ff14.
Don’t look at others. Play what you like.
Most weird group of people are those who don’t see the real issues of ff14, while there’s plenty of them and they act like it’s perfect game. They also burns bridges behind them and they act like ff14 will be their main game right now and nothing else

It may be because there’s some kind of high latency built into this game. Even if you’ve got low ping, then it feels like 500ms
The biggest misconception about FF14 is that the combat is slow and simple. It definitely starts that way with a long GCD and few abilities but in the later levels most of the rotations are more complex if anything, Of course complexity doesn’t always equal fun so you have to try it yourself. Just don’t judge it based on the beginning and don’t listen to people who do.
You cannot really compare the two. They are two different games with two different niches for different type of players. I played a bit of ff last week and I can understand the appeal but it did not made me think that it’s better than wow. In fact, taking a break from wow for 4-5 days grew my need to play wow again xD . Both games are just as good but at different things and could learn tons of stuff from each other. When it comes to character customization, final fantasy is definitely better due to how much you can change your character, and some sets are really good but too bad they costs real money 
… combat wise I preffer wow. Am not a fan of the global cd of 2.5 sec for most skills, and even in wow it’s better. Plus some classes are from what I heard completely different at max level than while leveling. Imersion wise both are really good and I can see that the artists in all games do an amazing job . Overall in final fantasy I appreciate the fact that the devs listen and care for the playerbase while the wow devs nowadays lack this skill pretty much. However I still love wow and it’s still my main game. No matter how much I try, I cannot put it on sides in favour of other games. No other games have draenei so no way I am doing it either, lol xD . Even if I love the cat girls in final fantasy, I still preffer my goats more <3 . Anyway I will play both games and enjoy both as different games coming here to satisfy all my needs when it comes to gaming. I believe that this is the best way to approach this. Also I do not get why people come to talk about how they unsubbed for final fantasy. Seems like this is the new “I am vegan” nowadays which is cringe to me. Just unsub and stop acting as if anyone is suppoused to care that you play something else.

Some classes in WOW also only have you pushing 3 or 4 buttons as well. FFXIV is great for people who want a really great story and lore, as well as just so much to do. You have your main story questline, plus expansions, and you can play any class without having to main an alt. Plus the game offers guild housing and player housing as well.
The old WOW expansions have a great story and lore as well and much to do than current WOW. Beginning with WOD it really goes down the tubes in WOW, but returns with Legion in all its glory, only to crash and burn with BFA and now SL. WOW is great if you love pvp and mythic type dungeons because its really harder to find people to do pvp in FFXIV, plus you can easily group up in WOW to do group content than you can during the pve part of FFXIV, which is mostly solo questing.
