Is FF 14 PvE really better than WoW PvE?

My ninja has 23 buttons in it’s rotation sir and like 6 defensives. https://youtu.be/tMPv6CcHxw8?t=65 is the opener. Please don’t tell me this is somehow easier than wow. Actually rotations for tanks also involve like 16 buttons, not including like 10 defensives. PVE can be very hard and baseline dungeons and raids of FF are harder than WOW because if you don’t do mechanics on a lot of bosses the boss will wipe you. Yes, in leveling dungeons, while you are leveling. The dungeon design is amazing, the class design is amazing, just dungeons aren’t really the true endgame, which to me is disappointing. But PvE - there is so much to do, mostly a single player story that’s interesting and like 500 hours long and extra activities, minigames you can do. On top of that players do RP which makes cities vibrant and alive. You have jumping puzzles and card games, interesting professions that make chopping wood for furniture fun. You can easily say that FF raids are just as hard as mythic raids in wow and just as good. It’s just that there is no m+, rotations are slower and less spammy.

From what i’ve done of high end content i’ve been left satisfied. I’ve only really raided WoW on and off and mostly did it regularly back in wrath and maybe cataclysm. There was a period towards the end of legion and beginning of bfa where i’d raid on an almost weekly basis. i’m feeling more engaged in it and feel less guilty about asking for info on tactics on 14 and the one extreme trail i’ve completed so far I’ve really liked the mechanics for, felt good to know you’ve done something right, seeing that the ability has gone off and you’re doing the thing you’re meant to. the animations for some situations i find are satisfying and add to that.

The one savage raid i’ve gotten down so far has you on a platform that you can fall off if you’re not careful, the boss will charge past from the middle of the arena while you have to be far enough from the centre to avoid being hurt by his fly by but not too far that the knock back it does will make you fall off, you also need to ensure when you get hit by the knockback you snap one of his lightning rod. so it’s a case of lining up with the pattern on the arena floor that gives you a rough idea of where to stand, there are these bricks that look like scenery but make lines across the arena to divide it into open sections and you need to line up with your lightning rod which will be discussed prior to the pull to make sure everyone gets one and knows where they will go so there are no headless chickens or two people standing on one leaving one spare rod unattended.

The boss does his thing, you get knocked back, do a satisfying looking roll and snap your rod and have a few moments of tension wondering if you were too far back and are going to be knocked off the edge. Simple but satisfying.

I personally have liked it more but to each their own

end game in ffxiv is much harder than in wow, you actually have to use brain even in normal mode encounters, some savages and ultimates makes wow mythic to be a joke

the only thing that makes it easier you don’t have to deal with 20 mentally unstable individuals just to be able to fill the raid and there are no time gated/locked crap like renown, so your character doesn’t have to wait months to be strong enough

We actually talked about this irl last night, as me and a few guildies played FF14 this spring after cancelling our WoW subs. I didn’t get very far in the leveling, but a couple of others did. One seems to be hooked on it(FF14), another ending up with a similar feeling as you describe here. Like it was just pushing the same spells forever.

To me FF seems pretty good content wise, but how you contantly get instanced bugged me. Especially considering you aren’t allowed to be social if instanced. The game blocks you from whispering etc. while doing instanced quests and dungeons/raids.

Another issue is the constant “Loading screen”. Swapping zones seems to be about loading the next zone. It would be like hitting a loadingscreen every time you went from Ashenvale to Barrens, and then again when going from Barrens to Mulgore. And then again when going from Barrens to Thousand Needles. The world doesn’t feel like a world. WoW has the exact same problem with Shadowlands btw, which is one of the reasons why I am not enjoying Shadowlands.

A third issue with FF14 for me is the invisible walls. I tried jumping off these harbour alike stairs to take a shortcut… as I would in Boralus. Apparently that isn’t allowed in FF. I hit an insvisible wall, and had to followed the designed path all the way down. No shortcuts, “this is where you walk, no jumping off fences here!”. I do not appreciate that. Again it takes away a bit of that open world feeling.

But yeah, a lot of the systems FF seems to provide, does feel very MMORPG, and I really appreciated that.

I think this instanced content is used because FF14 minimum requirements are 4 times lower than WoW’s and recommended are 2 times lower, while the graphics pretty much 3 times lower, while the game looks very nice. This could definitely use an upgrade and I agree with you that WoW’s overworld is superior in most aspects.

there is more interesting things to farm in ff14 than in wow in my personal opinion…

it doesn’t just feel like the only thing ur doing is farming to increase your ilvl…

it feels like you are farming for different reasons… which is what wow is lacking…

imo ff14 pve is far better than wow because there is many different pathways to take,

where wow has one pathway get gear increase ilvl.

ff14 is 60% off on steam right now good time to try it if there is any thought in your head saying you should.

You do realize they’ve lost at least 10.3 million subscribers since Wotlk?

On top of the “WORLD”, my vulpera’s furry behind.

still the most played MMO ^^

Do you think WOW lost so much players bcs the game got’’ worse ‘’?

Actually no =)

And yes. Because it got worse. People have been pointing out why it got worse for years now. They’re not listening and this is the result.

wow and wow classic separately ^^^^^

anyway the source is scuffed

Because they’re entirely different games.

WoW pve stopped being relevant after WOTLK.

I remember the hype when people were gunning for worl first etc…When that server announce popped up ‘‘server first’’ etc, people were spamming chats with hype and all that…even those who never liked pve at all were happy for those who managed to clear raids on highest difficulty.

Nowadays, when i see certain pve streamers doing sim, just to do 50 dps more,it makes me cringe so hard, its literally unbearable to watch.

Pve has become a joke. All those hardcore pve elitists who think wow pve has any meaning anymore, are deluded AF.

Actually, even pvp lost its meaning, considering now u can get any rating if u have enough $ or gold.Starting from mythic + blizzard female representative, who bought 2400 pvp rating for gold, and even made video about it,to casual player.

Long time ago, when u saw player in full heroic gear, you knew what’s up.Nowadays most people who have been running around in mythic gear, actually bought it for money.

And finally, wow is becoming guild wars 2,judging by their Korthia map style.

Jumping puzzles with rare elite farming trains…I was right when i said wow devs dont even play wow. They are playing other games, and its clearly obvious by certain designs. They dont even bother making something original. They are implementing designs and ideas from other games they have been playing, while our game is rapidly dying, and out wallets together with it.

8 months since SL release, and we get 20 quests,3 daily quests, one weekly assault and about 15 rare elites, which u cant summon most of the time because its bugged.

But fear not,one mega dungeon, one raid and new pvp season inc…cya in 8 months with new raid, pvp season, and new currency to replace soul cinders.

Ye this has been questioned by a lot of people given those sites dont have access to accurate data in this regard. Also Brigante pointed out that these websites also had subs listed for countries that dont exist like yugoslavia or more subs within a country than the country has inhabitants. The only ones that know the correct data in this regard are Blizzard and Square Enix themself and the data these websites present is more than wonky.

There’s a reason why they quit giving out subscriber numbers, and that reason is so they won’t look bad to investors.

Yes. However this doesnt make the numbers of these website any more accurate. In fact quite the opposite. The data of these websites has been called rubbish for a reason.

I didn’t say that it did, now did I?

It’s still very safe to assume that WoW has less than 2m subs rn.

No. But it sounded like you implied so. Also the statement that so they dont look bad to investors is false. Investors can just ask them what the sub numbers are. If they dont show them the data the investor can just tell them to other hand it over or lose the money. The investors have more power than Blizzard in that regard.

Not really. Since we lack any worthwile information. Its also possible that more come next week given we know that Season 2 wont start until then and thats more important to people than doing 3 dailys quests and rare hunting in Korthia for a week. Especially with the codex reputation being capped anyhow.

Baseless assumptions are never safe.

It’s still very safe to assume that WoW has less than 2m subs rn.

And that’ the problem actually. Most of people like you base their opinions on imagination.
While actually it’s pretty easy to check how popular WoW is. Because there are many sites which shows some statistics and datas.

Only in m+ in s1 there was 4+mln players in WoW.
Now add to it those who raid, pvp or play only casually.

WoW is still top1 mmo if it comes to population.
However it’s actually not that important at all. Top 1,2,3,4,5? No matter. Most important is a fact that there’s no other big mmo which offers same things as WoW. It’s the only one big “hardcore mmo”, while there’s plenty of casual mmorpg’s which competes with each others, like gw2, eso, ff14.
