i want full Cenarion set from Molten Core that renews only once in a week. Now, given that most of the drops are not from the Cenarion set but sets for other classes this may take…how long? An year? Has anyone even got an set and how long it took? I can buy only two items, all others i must get as drops.
Well it’s a pure cosmetic thing, only yourself can decide if it is worth or not.
Probably took around 2 months to get the full molten core set when I did it, usually you get all but 1 piece in 2 runs and then the final piece takes forever.
I had run yesterday, got none
I still need to get the cenarion spaulders from Baron, right now at 10ish tries.
It will take time, as the loot tables are vast. The raid was designed with 40 people and 9 classes in mind, and in fact, quite a few drops could be earned from multiple bosses which makes it even harder to target loot.
Up to you if it’s worth it. I got it during Vanilla when it was current and took a few months, but I wasn’t the only druid in the guild… Now of course you can do solo, and if you have multiple druids, you can use all of them.
Generally speaking, most bosses drop 2 pieces out of 9 possible ones, so the drop rate is 1 - (8/9)^2 = approx 20%.
This really isn’t THAT bad, it’s imply that on average, they would take 5 tries. Since there are 6 non-BoE pieces it’ll probably take more, but you might get lucky and have it all in a month or less.
Grinding out the Hydraxian Waterlords rep took a lot longer.
The set itself is pretty good, especially for an early low res model. It’s quite unique, the shoulderpiece is very nice, and so it the head, which I even use in this current transmog.
How many people you need to do the old raids?
If it’s once per week and you have time and really want it, Icwould say its worth. Especially now if you’re in the waiting room for the new patch.
Transmog hunting is actually a legit playstyle in WoW, and a more casual approach. Or maybe when you’re not raiding or pushing keys. It’s why the Mage Tower is so popular now, people care about their transmogs
MC is a bit of a mixed bag yeah, it being the very first raid. Maybe you can level a druid and try to run it on more than one char to ‘double’ your chances? Not sure what minimum lvl you can solo Vanilla raids though, after the squish.
just farm it once a week and you’ll have your set in a couple of months.
Yeh, it’s one of those things that takes a while to complete. And Molten Core isn’t the most fun raid to be running around as there is a lot of going back and forth (although as a Druid you can move slightly faster).
But then again, the transmog sets of nowadays take just as long to complete.
But expect everything in this game to take time to farm, the vast majority of items in this game are not 100% drop rates.
It’s best to concentrate on other parts of the game, and then just drop in on the raid once a week before reset.
(p.s. Amigaforever <3)
The sad thing is, quite often by the time that couple of months is up, and you finally have your completed set, the excitement of getting that set has pretty much gone.
I have loads of sets that I have completed, but never worn because by the time I completed them I wanted or had something else.
It’s worth it if you really want it. So the best thing you can do at this point is creating alts of the same class that you park in front of the raid you want to farm. What’s silly is that other classes can loot those items but won’t appear in your sets.
It’s no different now to how it was 15-16 years ago… only that the mob’s in there are easier to kill that makes it seem more like it’s not worth the effort.
It’s annoying compared to other expansions as there were no tokens back then but you can skip most bosses if they don’t drop a piece or you’ve already gotten it.
Old Raids are Legacy Loot, which means that a solo run means you get every piece of loot that drops.
The unfortunate thing is that ALL the Molten Core set pieces were Class-only useable, rather than Armour proficiency as in many later Raids… even if a Rogue piece drops, you can’t learn the appearance for a Rogue alt… and vice versa.
… all skippable except if you needed anything off Ragnaros; who infuriatingly dropped a piece for the next Tier UP (Blackwing Lair), too.
Oh that was so annoying when going for my Retribution set, because that ended up being the last bit I needed.
Ouchies… no fun.
Leveling in Shadowlands is very fast, so you can create an army of lvl 50 druids and farm the set each week that way.
When doing old raids/dungeons for transmog, I often group up with my sister because nearly always we get loot suitable for each other that we end up trading to complete class/transmog sets.
Sounds to me like you dont have enough druids!
