Is it ok to write stories related to WoW on the forums?

I read somewhere that you are not allowed to write novels, etc. related to WoW, but I was wondering if it would be okay to write stories of your own characters on the forum?

People write fan fiction all the time. I don’t think posting it in General Discussion would be popular, but the fan creations category welcomes it.

Of course you can… you just can’t publish it and earn anything from it. It would be a fanfiction.

This, although you can seek permission to do so although they’re unlikely to grant it.

People have also used wow to create their own stories with video capture. Making short videos or clips.
This is fine as long as you aren’t trying to make money out of it.

I would probably also add that the stories would have to be fairly uncontrovsial. Trying to recreate Gaza / Isreal or China / Taiwan using in-game resources would not be acceptable to Bliz.

Well the laws of copyright are the legal detterent about wow .
But obviously u can write whatever u want as long as u don’t publish it and earn money , as other mention it’s just fanfiction .

this takes me back to Wattpad and Tumblr days.

fan fictions are the best novels since the player knows what they want to see.

now thinking about it. Blues! I know you are peeking you sneaky Murlocs, what if someone would like to make a fanfiction of wow and post it into the Fanart section?

obviously, it has to be sensible and not trolling, would you accept that type of thread?

You can do it whenever you like just in the correct forum section.

I remember when I first posted this years ago, I got a reply from a Blue saying they were going to read it in their lunch hour. I felt so gratified lol

Is that not just giving your ideas away for free? I have seen continue the story posts on here. Not for ages though.

Unfortunately that is the price you pay for not creating your own IP.

However, nothing was said about not keeping your story and changing it later so all WoW references are deleted.
