Ive had this account since 2010, I have 56 toons . 48 of them are lvl 70. 8 are lvl 80.
It’s just really boring : / with scaling , what’s the actual point of it anymore ?
1-70 takes 3-4 hours , 25% experience bonus 70-80 .
Leveling feels like a legacy mode that just doesn’t fit the modern player.
We can still have zones and questlines , but make them an optional thing.
I haven’t enjoyed lvling since Legion. I’ve seen 3 polls and one of them done by Blizzard themselves. More than 70% of those participating said they never read the quest texts.
It’s no longer a journey , just a big inconvenience. Everything is focused on end lvl.
There’s nothing I can do at lvl 77 except quest and spam the same 4 dungeons.
Tell me when was the last time you had " fun" lvling in retail ?
Plz don’t bring classic wow into the conversation that was a different time and era we all know that.
My GF started playing WoW for the first time a month ago… If she was dropped in Dornagol at max lvl and expected to know what to do with dozens of abilities, of which some are good, some are bad, a full talent tree etc. etc. she would give up.
But seeing how she could stress free run around the world and seeing her be in Duskwood at one time, and later seeing her in Pandaria because “There was a portal and I took it” was amazing.
You have played since 2010, but not everyone has. For you the lvling process is “time gating” from what you actually want to play “End game”.
So no. Please do not remove the lvling, and don’t make it “optional”. Because giving new players a billion things to do, and no real guide of what is optional, what is beneficial, what is not, would drive them away
why was the majority of players rushing day 1 of TWW ?
Doesn’t sound like those players enjoy the leveling experience
They know all the " fun stuff" starts at end lvl
The majority of players don’t care about story or lore. They just want to kill things , get loot get more powerful , do the same thing on alts.
Leveling used to be a way to explore the world and understand your class. But with no need to see trainers. No class quests needed.
Leveling so fast , there’s no time to " learn your class" , besides easily done at max lvl.
Most players including myself don’t use the talent system to customise how they want to play their toon. They just copy and paste the best talent choices from third party websites.
Players are lazy , choose the path of least resistance. Look at Shadowlands convenants. People didn’t choose the convenant for style , or lore reasons. They took what was best for their spec and class.
I love my guild and guildies , I’ve asked them many times about wow lore. They don’t know anything and they told me they don’t care. They didn’t want me to explain it to them. WoW isn’t about the story to them.
I’m a wow lore nerd , but i’m a very small minority.
Leveling has no justification to be in the game at this point.
WoW is an mmo , mmo are supposed to have quests and leveling. Does it though ?
But i play since bc. For new players its kinda relevant, although i am sure no one new is able to follow the story and will run into phasing bugs non stop if they play multiple expansions at once.
In the end it makes blizz profit, because we have to spend some gametime on leveling. Blizz accommodate us in the form of exp boosts for free.
I am sure if we call for skips through ingame means some could stretch the argument that experienced players can buy a boost with gold and can skip the first leveling part.
It is what it is. I support your view tho, its a chore.
Levelling is still a useful way for new players to learn the game, it could be faster, or more streamlined (Perhaps something like exile’s reach should last all the way to 70 (But not exile’s reach, something new))?
I don’t think they’ll remove levelling all together but I just tend to want to get it done as soon as possible.
I tend to just do a number of characters to cap each time and then wait for some event that makes levelling faster to do the rest.
Remix was so fast that you could level in a few hours so I rerolled a load because it was easier to delete and recreate than level the existing characters up.
12 of each class horde
12 of each class Alliance
Then 8 alliance races
Total 32
Sadly both realms were low pop by the time DF came around raiding exclusive to 2 guilds on horde and 6 on Alliance.
I like RP , couldn’t afford to transfer all toons to Argent Dawn. So started from Scratch , stayed with alliance.
so that’s another 16 toons.
So that makes 48 toons
Then I made 6 druids for gold farming on different realms.
Two toons on pvp realm ( used to be a pvp realm) back from the day.
total 56
It wasn’t until WoD and Legion that I went onto a huge leveling spree though. In MoP I had 4 lvl 90 Alliance and 1 lvl 90 Horde. WoD there wasn’t much to do and leveling got super fast. So I made 1 of every class.
