I haven’t been to WoW for over a year now and I’m thinking about coming back.
But according to some friends and posts here i am not so sure if i should come back or if there’s even a point. most comments are negative, now i know there always will be some negative reaction when it comes to Blizzard but i would like to hear some people’s opinion before i buy the expansion.
So based on your opinion alone, is it still worth playing retail at this point in time? or should i wait for a new season / expansion before coming back?
I used to do m+ and raids on heroic and mythic so i like most content, but this time i don’t want to go all the way and just chill a bit, do just 1 or 2 raids a week and maybe don’t push m+ that hard and go on delves just to chill out.
I hope to hear some positive comments so i would know there’s still hope
P.S - I am currently playing SoD and enjoy my chill fun time without any stress, so i also take that under consideration
If you’re posting, you already are subbed, right?
So why post from this low level character? Show your (former?) main, so we have an idea of what kind of stuff you like doing.
Watch my P.S, i wrote it from my classic char since i posted something there about a guild and forgot to change it to my old retail char.
I was a survival and at the end bm hunter, most of my wow time was a tank.
So yes i am subbed, but the question is mostly about the expansion and retail, not the actual sub.
Ah okay. Well, imo there’s plenty to do if you haven’t started on TWW.
Once you’ve leveled, did the campaign and geared up a bit, we’re probably starting or close to starting season 2 and that’s the perfect time to actually get into endgame properly (depending on your personal preferences for content of course).
I too play WoW for relaxation and fun. That’s why I avoid things like M+, rated PvP or raiding beyond LFR. Delves are a nice new way of endgame progression that you can do solo at your own pace.
But do you still get the proper gear to be at a high level? i think my biggest struggle was not the raids, because i love the raids. It’s the m+, i can get to a certain key and then just don’t want to go on any further but i won’t be getting the highest ilvl gear.
So the question is, is the better ilvl gear still blocked behind m+ runs or i can still achieve it in other ways? i do want to PvP a bit
Delves in s1 can get you high end heroic raid level equivalent gear (with low end mythic raid gear being somewhat possible with a lot of patience and effort).
In s2 low end mythic raid gear is much easier to get through delves - still takes time and won’t be as fast and optimal as doing the raid content, but it’s definitely doable.
So yes, not the very best of the best, but if you’re not doing mythic raids, you don’t need that stuff anyway. I love finally having actual endgame progression for a solo player.
Of course if you don’t mind dipping your toes in various activities, your gearing will be faster/smoother on average.
Well like I answered your other thread asking the same question, nobody can answer opinion based question with anything but with their own opinion. So for the sake of answer Ill say yes.
And for equal value related answers, you could do wheel of fortune with yes and no writen on it and then do what it says, or just flip a coin.
Well theres certainly fun amount of threads coming from classic alts or 1 post avatars making pretty much same threads with topic “classic vs retail” or “is retail worth” “is retail worth coming back” made on forum past weeks or even for this weekend. I guess we could use this opportunity to discuss about possibility of forum to become under btag posting
Yeah I think it should, I just saw the post you are talking about and I’ve missed it lol
Well at least here I just ask for personal opinion just to hear its not all bad
Could throw coin in air and decide one side is yes and other is no, or could just give it a try self and it would be more value than ask others opinion based matter over and over
Answering based on this, but let me also tell you a bit about my playstyle to give you context on my opinions. I’m a mythic raider who does m+ mostly for gear and achievements, get the portals of every dung, 2500 rio and stop there. I enjoy the lore and history of the game, would love more interesting and challenging solo content but still disappointed on that front.
Mythic Plus
Generally, this M+ season is considered one of the harder ones. Loads of spells to watch out for and mechanics to deal with. That being said, the affixes are all very easy to deal with and thematic. All the old stuff you remember is gone (thank god). Affixes are very consistent and if you’re playing 10 and above they’re basically always the same. On 12 and above it changes to something different. I play exclusively with guildies and generally have a good time. Would say I’m quite satisfied with this season of dungeons 8/10.
Raid
Raid followed the DF pattern, Normal is an absolute joke, HC is super easy, Mythic is good until about 4/8 then the last 4 bosses is where mythic raiding starts for real. Not as happy with this kind of tunning personally, I’d prefer if there was a smoother difficulty curve between heroic, mythic first and second half. The boss fight themselves are generally quite well designed though. Once again I play in an organised guild so I can’t comment on the state of pugs. Overall I’d say raiding is ok this season, so about 6.5/10.
Solo Content
Delves are the biggest failures of this expansion so far, which is a shame as I was highly looking forwards to them. They’re too easy, and if you actually want to get a bit of challenge (tier 8 and above difficulty level), there are no rewards for it. This is getting remedied in season 2 though, so wait and see. Mind you, they’re useful for some quick gearing for alts or catch up on main in your case. In terms of the gameplay, they’re ok, it gives you a mild sense of adventure but if you ask me freaking bronzebeard fella gets on my nerves pretty quickly. I’d rate them as a 0, but they were useful at the start of the season so I’d say 4/10.
Lore & general vibe in the game
Lore wise and story wise, things are a bit mixed. It’s much better than DF and SL, in terms of character engagement and world building. It still has that annoying kumbaya vibe that DF started, but at least we’ve got a few more serious and impactful plots like everything to do with Dalaran (won’t say more for spoilers in case you’re still unaware).
Xal’atath is very well portrayed, and feels like will be an important antagonist for quite some time, instead of a throwaway villain of the week… That being said, Queen Ansurek and the Nerubian plot line… That’s the usual disappointment if you ask me.
It’s worth paying attention to the minor plot points in Hallowfall as most of those will likely get used later, the Arathi empire and what lies on the other side of Azeroth is starting to get fleshed out which is exciting.
Hard to give that a score as I tend to rate lore based on the whole expansion, so I’ll pass on that here.
Hope this helps making your mind up.
PS: Hunter has been receiving quite a bit of attention this patch, and MM is getting an overhaul next season so bare that in mind too!
No, you could take your monthly sub and use it to place a bet on Southampton winning the Premier League this season and still get better value for the money than you will from this game.
Few good adjustments on the druid tree talents and then some change on the weaving between physical and magical dmg which they make them now choose over which they wish to do and give it % buff based on choise but also nerfed all dmg overall, and said that it wouldnt affect their current dmg which is false as either cat or magic dmg will be less by this change and I do both in 2v2 while I also heal so I will do less with other in future.
Overal the druidic tree talent changes look for the better however so I think it will be good change on bigger picture with the talent pathings and better position for kick and remove curse/poison becoming free, learnt lvl 10 instead talent. For passive healing type gameplay it looks better overall for blitz and shuffle and such.
