Is it worth even farming rare items anymore, when blizzard will most likely eventually make them obtainable easily? (Tusks of mannoroth)

There is nothing special about those, just a trash droprate that should have been fixed back in the days.

You do realize that MMOs are the ultimate treadmill games? You spin in your little hamster wheel for weeks and months even, just to get some crappy piece of gear that will be useless trash come next expansion… Was “it worth even farming”?

That’s a question only you can answer. If you want to just… idk, take a break as soon as something grindable releases, in fear that sooner or later it will be easier to get… Feel free to do that? I’m not sure what game there will be left to play in that case, but it’s your choice.

Besides, your “rare” and “prestigious” items stop being rare and prestigious the moment a next expansion drops. Level cap gets raised. New stronger gear becomes a thing. From that point farming only ever gets easier. Why didn’t people get outraged about the tusks being obtainable more easily back… in 2015 or so?

My opinion is that seasonal and challenging rewards at the time of release [MoP Challenge Mode transmog] as an example
should remain unobtainable. There is nothing really impressive about getting something with a really low droprate like the Tusks. You just had to get lucky.

Way to cherry pick what I said.

Since they added a skip to SOO you could farm these with an army of alts if you wanted pretty quickly.
I went in there to see what the skip was like and maybe get the mount. I got the tusks. Didn’t really know what they were when they dropped but I saw other talking about them and realised I was lucky.

The farm for these is already not what it was. So I don’t see the Remix addition as much of an issue.

It’s worth it if you enjoy the process of farming the items, and if you enjoy having and using them.

It’s not worth it if your main motivation is to own stuff that other people don’t have or if you are driven solely by the (assumed and usually non-existent) envy of others.

Prestige is Seasonal, should put that on a T Shirt…

Frankly I think the number of unobtainable items in game should number less than half a dozen. Things like Black Qiraji Tank and a couple of others. One every other expansion maybe.

its pixels and means nothing.

Is there prestige attached? Whenever I see someone obnoxiously afking on a rare mount by the mailbox, or on top of it, I never think “Boy, that person is so cool!”. My thoughts are more along the lines of “This person must have low self-esteem to be so desperate for attention.”

I don’t know about others, though, maybe rarity is prestigious.

As for all rare items and mounts, being lucky with a low drop chance is not the same as being prestigious.

But when does this go too far? When does making rare items accessible become too accessible? Invincible on the trading post?

I never got the appeal of that particular mount. I’ve always found it quite ugly.
So I’m not a good person to ask that; since the mount means nothing to me.

Anyway, to answer the question: I think it goes too far when that content hasn’t been current for at least 2 expansions. At that time, I think it could be made more readily available (I’m not saying put it on the TP or send it to everyone in the mail; but maybe have a stacking buff for every attempt; ensuring it’ll drop eventually).

I just feel that some mounts or other items some be rarer. Shows your willing to put time into the game to get something you want. Some things however are stupidly low drop rate for no reason and tbh it’s super annoying. Sire helm for example

With what I proposed in my previous post, you’d still have to put in time.
But there would at least be a guarantee at some point.

Or… They could eventually release a Remix for every expansion.
That could work too. I’d be cool with that.

I think that rare drops (those just envolving luck) should change like recently they change holiday rare drops. Add bad luck protection. Someone who has been farming a rare mount for years deserve that mount, no matter how lucky they are.

tusks of mannoroth is a drop chance .
its not really rare

now if blizzard suddenly made unobtainable items obtainable like pvp items out of season

then id be upset
if the item is not tied to an achievement its fine .

  • i wish corrupted ashbringer was on the trading post . those models look amazing… even if it was a Re colour

  • if you had to do some achievement or rating to get the item , then it should NEVER be obtainable after each season

IF wow is in state of decline it’s not because people are getting these rare items

After a 5 month break I’ve decided to just embrace the change and accept that the devs have committed to their decision to give away formerly prestigous items for next-to-nothing. In my opinion WoW isn’t as good a game as it used to be… but I still enjoy playing enough to buy the expack and a six-month sub. It’s better to go with the flow rather than spoil my own fun by constantly comparing the current game to a gameplay philosophy that I preffered, but that has now been permanently removed.

In my eyes, not so much. I just do achievements and pet collecting now and no mount or transmog or toy hunting. If a rare that drops a mount or a toy is still close by, I will slay it though.

Why are old PvP transmogs so special though? you enjoyed your fame rocking the mogs, now let others join in on the fun.

I think it is just a matter of time PvP sets and mounts will be made farmable for all.

I think the value of “prestige” as an RPG principle has been or is being very quickly eroded in WoW. More and more do not care how you got something.
