Is it worth even farming rare items anymore, when blizzard will most likely eventually make them obtainable easily? (Tusks of mannoroth)

This is how I feel about the Warband feature. I think it takes away from the RPG feel of the game, with player characters no longer being seen as individuals. But the change is coming (soon). So I will have to accept it.

Stupid. Like AOTC mounts and Keystone master.
Same thing for ĆØlitĆØ sets. By this logic, we should also have Mythic Raid set becoming unavaiable after it ends. Even then, it would be just idiotic.

This greed to have items to show off is not something i’m fond of at all. You should be able to obtain things all times but with the same skill required for them. The tusks at this point were just RNG, wich means there wasn’t anything to show off other than just bragging about having luck.

In my view, a perfect thing would be to have rewards avaiable at all times, but requiring the same skill you need to obtain them. OFC, the older it gets, the easier it should be than current content.

(To make an example: Challenge mode sets from WoD? Requires to do X level of m+ to obtain 1 of them. Jailer mythic mount? Be able to get it like tusks of mannoroth in Remix)

The thing is that not even a 1% of those 1% are still playing to use those items-titles

In the past 7=8 years i haven’t encountered another character with the Mistwalker title that i’m using . ( The other 4 people that i did cm time don’t play anymore Minitomme offline for 9 Years -Giorgos2006 offline for 8 years - xanthos offline for 5 years -Sixpets-offline for 9 years ). If i count Lfr-M+/dungeons - Open World and everything i believe i encounter 100k different char at least and not a single one with that title or Magic Seeker /Mistwaker.

Would be nice if new people get the change to do the content as was and get the chance to obtain items-titles and everything .

Hate when that happens. People just remaining offline and seemingly will not ever return to the game :frowning:

I like this discussion, here is my point of view.

Bringing back items in a game that were once no longer obtainable can be controversial for several reasons:

  1. Exclusivity and Prestige:

Value of Rarity: Items that are no longer obtainable often hold a special status among players. They serve as symbols of dedication, achievement, or participation in a particular event or era of the game. Reintroducing these items can diminish their value and significance.

Player Achievement: Players who went through the effort to obtain these items may feel that their accomplishments are devalued when the items become available again.

The decision to keep certain items unobtainable and allowing only a minority to possess them is often grounded in several key principles that contribute to the overall game experience

Which brings me to the second part of my view.

Let’s call it… Preservation of Historical Significance:

Milestones and Memories: Unobtainable items often represent significant events or milestones in the game’s history. They serve as reminders of those moments and contribute to the game’s lore and narrative. Make unobtainable items obtainable again and you take that away. Think about this scenario: ā€œDude 1:Oh, i have the same armor as you, i got it from tading postā€ ā€œDude 2: Damn, i got mine for playing 12 years ago and clearing a very hard raid with my team, which took several daysā€ That scenario is the problem in terms of bringing back exclusive/unobtainable items/mounts. WoW should be open for the casual player, but some things should also stay exclusive for the veteran player, who have played for years and sacrificed hours upon hours on the game, that is part of the essence of being a veteran player. That’s why i think commemoration is so important. because these items commemorate player achievements or participation in limited-time events, fostering a sense of pride and nostalgia.

I’ve never played Vanilla, TBC or Wrath, but i still think it’s so important that there are items which are from that era and that era only. As i mentioned earlier, it serves as a reminder of an expansion that once were and no longer is and that is exactly what contributes to history in this game. I don’t think all items should be available for the majority because of these exact points that i have presented, i see many in here saying it’s not a big deal because it’s just a game. So obviously you can turn it around and say ā€œIt’s just a game, you should be able to enjoy it regardless of not having the possibility to obtain rare/unobtainable item’sā€ In some sense you could compare it to CSGO, everyone thinks skins from the old collections are cool, but that is exactly what makes them cool, because they are so exclusive and rare and not for the majority of the players.

ā€œIt just devalues one of the main things that kept people playing wow, the rarity and legacy of some of these items.ā€

I got the Tiger mount from old Zul… Its not what keeps me playing lol…

Clearly it is when you spent time to farm it.

This game started dying and lossing players when they start giving away free welfare items.

Really? To me it seems like it started dying when they doubled on exclusive time-limited rewards instead of allowing players to acquire rewards at their own pace 2-3 years down the line.

Imo, the only rare things that are worth farming if you want to flex is PvP stuff and titles; one may argue that PvP sets can be considered rare but it kinda depends on the season.
All the other stuff that remains obtainable, even if it has a low drop chance is ā€œehā€.

What they did with Remix was far better than devaluing people’s time even more by having them go one shot the same raid weekly (sometimes more than once) that was originally released in 2013.

Really? the tusks is where you drew the line?
Not the TCG card that ended up on the travelers post?

In general I think that if you’re trying to show up with tusks of manneroth today, barely anyone would look at you and think whoa thats prestige man that you have it, too much time has passed.

I can compare this to me completing my judgment set as someone who didn’t start raiding properly until wrath and didn’t play in vanilla, by the time I completed my judgment set I was on cloud 9 and thought it was amazing cause its such a good paladin set, but reality was it was cataclysm by then and nobody cared.

And just like that, the tusks of manneroth were in pandaria, now we’re in dragonflight, entering TWW.
A very small minority cares anymore, so small that its probably not worth putting stock to their concerns.

But… Why is a low drop chance item ā€œprestigiousā€ ? What did you do to earn it? You camped a world boss with 50 other people, that all spam their target macro, because otherwise it will get one-shot faster than you will be able to tag it?

I really hope not… It would be sad, if WoW’s selling point was low drop chance afk farms and not the gameplay…

KSM, AoTC, Gladiator, those mounts are still seasonally exclusive? That’s something I would say people ā€œwork towardsā€ā€¦

The only reason those farms keeps people playing is because Blizzard feeds on the FOMO… The Love Rocket, The Reindeer Antlers for the dragon riding mount… The Brewfest mounts… They make people log in and farm because Blizzard goes "Hey… Ppsstt… If you don’t farm it every day… You will have to wait A YEAR! :smiling_imp: But don’t worry!.. We will make the drop chance absurdly low, so if you get it, you can feel cool  "

I always find it odd, that some people claim they went through a big hurdle, when talking about farming raid mounts or low drop chance tmog… You one-shot an NPC… And got super lucky… That’s not prestige… That’s luck… Who should then feel coolest, me who got Invincible on my 35th kill or the guy whos been farming it for years and haven’t gotten it? He after all, is still going through that giga chad grind right?

I farmed it as I could… Same with all the old content was a good source of money lol… and like I said owning it now doesn’t make me keep playing…

Nah, better just wait till the end of WoW and get everything on the last day.

No do not farm them , why waste your time for video pizel ? Spend this time working and contributing to the society , why waste so much doing unfun and boring for no benefit

For me, i dont care fore ā€œRarityā€ or ā€œPrestigiousā€. ā€œIf it looks good, i want it.ā€ and not ā€œIs it rare, i want it.ā€
I had the Tusks before and im happy for everyone who wanted them.
