Is still possible to get r14

Hi Guy im French so sorry for my english,

I just have a question, i start my ranking with my warrior on spineshatter (im r9 since this morning) so i begin the 5 huge weeks with mini 418k, but when i compare with my mage 3 months ago its really not the same honor per hour and i have work and gf, i can play 25h per week for rank but its hard and it seems like its not enough now for do 500k, with Summer there is a lot of player who take a break, half games are turtle, so my question is simple, is still possible to get r14 in one month or it will be very hard?

Tanks for your answers

You can create Excel sheet and write down time and honor for your games. Then you can calculate your real honor per hour and calculate, how many hours per week you need.

IMO just play on AV weeks.

Weighing the pig doesn’t make it heavier (German saying). So the question is, do we really need ~418k honor from rank 13 to rank 14 and has this to be done in one week only?

Download ranker addon, the addon is called “ranker”. It’s very doable to get rank 14, stormwind/orgrimmar is full of rank 14’s. It’s AV weekend right now. You need 2 weeks of 418k and 1 week of 500k if I recall correctly.

Yes. 418750, to be precise.

No, 2 weeks minimum. And only if you start from 13 + 32% rank (or higher). If you start from 13 + 31% (or less), you need exactly 3 weeks of 419k honor.

I join the recommendation to use Ranker addon, it’ll calculate the optimal way to reach desired rank. Blizzard formulas are very confusing, so don’t avoid it.

I already use Ranker and I’m not afraid to grind several weeks for rank 14. But I would be very scared if I must go from rank 13 to rank 14 in only one week, because that is what ranker says (or I’m too stupid to interpret the results).

I think it’s impossible to go from rank 13 to rank 14 in just 1 week. At least 2 weeks are needed.

Do I need these ~419k honor EVERY week?? This would be insane because yesterday (we have AV bonus weekend) I was in Alterac Valley for ~4 hours (including a short break for dinner). In these four hours I got ~110k honor. It would be absolutely insane to grind 4h a day for 4 days per week (reset period) to earn this amount of honor, esp. if you have a normal life, a family, a job and other obligations.

Yeah its how it works, and while yes there are a lot of rank 14 people they all did it way back when it first came out when almost every match of AV was sub 10min and it still was a insane grind.

Yeah, that is correct, 16 hours on an AV weekend sound about right, closer to 20-25 hours on other weeks. For 3 weeks (at least they can be spaced out). That’s the “free” r14 people complain about that “everyone” can get.

It is not a normal life, if you can’t dedicate two days for your hobby. It is slavery. Family and job should enable you to enjoy the life, not disable you.

20 years ago, my boss played this game and he played it during the working hours. Now I know why.

Tanks for the answers I use ranker since the start dont worry, and it seems like in AV week end its 30k/hour with no AV its 15k 20k if U are lucky with no turtles, and for Jarlath its impossible to do r13 r14 in one week, minimum 2 week with 418k if y dont r13 with 32%, the both 500k week for me its for do r11 to r12 next week and r12 to r13, but its dĂ©pend how u ding r11 (i’ll be r11 40% the next reset)

Thanks for the answers guys, it will be hard but not impossible

Lmao, if you think that’s insane, try doing R14 grind on real vanilla instead.

IMO that’s the major issue with current grind. Old grind was too bad, so I, personally, wouldn’t even care about it, just like I don’t care about world bosses existing nowadays, or Scarab Lord title. Inaccessible thing is inaccessible. Current grind is hard, but not hard enough and rewards are spectacular, and this situation forced a lot of people to participate in this grind, which they didn’t enjoy a little bit. Good game process should deliver fun all the time, not only at the end.

Not hard enough? Srsly?? The question isn’t “do I have to earn a lot of honor points to get to rank 14?”. But the question is, “do I have to do it within a specific time frame?”. And the answer is yes.

The answer is yes because there is something like ‘a weekly reset’ and some intermediate steps you have to reach. And if you didn’t earn a specific amount of honor per week, you will get nothing. If you have earned 400k HP but need 419k, you will loose it all.

I really like Alterac Valley because I have some nice memories for it a long time ago, with my priest, my druid and even with my mage. And I like Alterac when it’s possible to turtle or to have a big ‘zerg’. But turtling/zerging yields no honor. Today the problem is, everyone wants to be high-ranked and therefore there are seldom turtles. And if there is a turtle, the people insult each other, they want to have a 8 minute rush instead. Sure, if you want a lot of honor, you have to rush and you can’t turtle. But this is not my Alterac Valley anymore.

Yes. I made this cap in two days, wednesday + thursday. Around 30 hours total. It’s not hard. Make it 2 mil/week and it’s a different story. Or better: fix AV to prevent that easy honor farm, even 419k on WSG or AB would be a good alternative. AV honor per hour is ridiculously high, compared to other battlegrounds, which made the whole grind too accessible.

So you played 15hrs per day? No offense, but did you eat/sleep/sh*t? Fifteen hours per day don’t sound healthy, even when I was a kid I could not play so long. And when you stretch the time to 4 days, it would be 7hrs/day, this is much too long too. For me it’s too long. Dunno how the sweatlords organize their life around this game.

If it’s too long for you, it’s your problem. Every second player in Stormwind is Grand Marshal, it wasn’t too long for them. Maybe you’re not in a target demographic for WoW Classic.

Who is the ‘target demographic’ for WoW Classic, in your opinion? Unemployed people or people without a family or other obligations? People who don’t clean or repair their premises and have nothing to do beside gaming?

If you say ‘yes’, this would be absolutely okay for me, but seeing then a Grand Marshal would be a unwell experience, because everyone would know he (or she) has nothing to do all day long except running Alterac Valley.
