Is Sylvanas really all that bad

She will kill you and throw you into the maw, but without a portal. Bye Türiel. :crying_cat_face:

Genn is not the king. He cannot go to war without Anduin and Anduin would have never attacked first. Also Genn =/= Night Elves.

Nah me and sylvanas used to date so she’ll not do that.

There is nothing wrong with genociding your enemy during war

The lack of any disciplinary acts against him is what allowed Sylvanas to convince the other leaders that the Alliance will strike soon, adding to that the Azerite issue.

So if I want to kick toddler in the face without it making me bad person, I just have to declare war with toddler and suddenly it’s a good thing? Cool, seems like broken mechanic.

As much as I’m a die hard Sylvanas fan, clearly killing civilians is considered a war crime.

I thought this was clear to everyone by now.

In real life it is - doesnt have to be the case in-game as well.

Well technically yes

No Geneva Convention in Azeroth

There’s no reason to kill helpless, unarmed elves unless you have some serious, game changing reason behind it.

I really hope she has that excuse.

It’s not a matter of convention, it’s a matter of humanity. Even denizens of Azeroth seem horrified by this act alone, which means it is clearly wrong even in game.

And how is that different from everyone else sapping at our anima? All the covenants do it, Oribos does it, hell the Titans do it. This is Sylvanas’ main problem - we are tools. Not even pawns. We are fuel for grand designs. She is exploiting the system, yes, but her goal is to end the system.

Sylvanas is a typical revolutionary - there has never been a fighter for freedom who wasn’t a criminal. Our liberators in Bulgaria were seen as terrorist, not just by the Ottomans, but by many Bulgarians, too. In fact our most famous hero, Levski, was given to the Ottomans by the Bulgarians who didn’t want liberation, who saw him as a cringe commie. Liberation requires action. And action is often ugly.

We have the perspective of the oppressors. We do not perceive the system as broken, because the system has so far benefitted us. We grow more and more powerful, we slay gods at the command of the Titans, we never die. The reason we don’t die is because we are needed for some grand design. We cannot die, even if we wanted to.

We do not have ownership of our own lives, and we don’t mind it because the Titans blind us with power. But that power is not for us. It is for them. They want to use us. And when the time comes, we won’t have a choice but be used to serve their grand purpose.

Sylvanas is just like Jason Voorhees… misunderstood

They called her bad names.

That’s very unbelievable for me, but that’s how it’s written anyway. On the other hand a lot of stupid stuff happened in the history.

If the Horde doesn’t do real disciplinary acts now btw., the writers might use it as the reason for the next faction conflict. The Alliance (maybe not Anduin) - especially the Night Elves - are angry as hell and rightly so. I have not seen trials so far, no reparations, no apologies. Thrall tries at least I guess.

Yes. She started the war because of azerite. This is one of the few things she said straight up. Azerite enabled new war technology and machinery. Sylvanas knew if she didn’t start a war and let the Alliance develop their azerite warmachines, they would wipe the Horde out. In a straight up honest war, the Alliance would win. She had to beat them to the punch.

There is a part in the Legion questline where Varian tells her if the Horde acts up again, the Alliance will destroy them. This threat got to her. She knew Varian wasn’t lying. The war had to start before the Alliance had the chance to act on this threat.

I wanted to reply to you then this popped up

Are you Erevien? Do you have children? If yes, in what world do you want to see them grow up? You can’t be serious with what you just wrote.

I have no issue with people liking villains in game. Who cares, it’s just pixels, no one was hurt in the process.

The parallel with the toddler was too much imo. Everything we do in this game qualifies as murderous and unacceptable by any real civilized society after all.

Yes. I mean a shooter game does not necessarily make a serial killer. But I feel like there must be limits, such as with toddlers. Certain thresholds of conscience should remain untouched.
