Is the PvP Gearing System in 9.1 Really a Good Idea?

Yes tanks Panda, absolutely agree with the quoted post there. I said it myself when it became clear this was not “true WOD system” - it fails to fix the biggest issue in PvP which is the rating/ilevel jumps which makes playing alts massively unfriendly for all except those whom either have the skills and/or friends to be at the very top rank whom can work against a 20ilevel advantage irrespective.

For everyone else who may even slightly struggle with such a matchup, it’s not fun, it’s frustrating and kills the spirit of competition and creates a system that feels very hostile to new and aspiring pvpers looking to dip their toe into ranked to “see where they end up” because atm, chances are, unless you are REALLY REALLY GOOD without realising it, or have a friend who is, you will sink several games and hours into arena and MAYBE you will see 1.6 if you’re lucky, but that’s assuming you can climb past the 1.4 wall where you have a lot of people running around in 213+ gear whilst you yourself have 197 gear.

It’s a huge disappointment. This is one thing where a significant portion of the pvp community is relatively uniform in agreeing a “two-tier” system works, in it rewards the conquest people enough, yet keeps honour gear “relevant” and rewards the best with cool mounts, mogs, titles etc to make it feel like it’s worth pushing (but it’s not worth paying to be boosted for for many).

And yet they do nothing. Arrrrgh.

for you what would be a good change for pvp items in 9.1? (also i agree in what you say)

I can see it is a good change if you only pvp then you will be happy. But if you do both pvp and pve, you now have two systems to level up with. Before anyone says we had it in WOD, remember that WOD did not have anything such as soul ash to grind to level up a legendary like SL has or other borrowed power mechanics.

Most specs grind two kits anyway if they both pvp and pve. Versatility is really important for tanks in mythic+, so our best in slot often comes from PVP, this change will mean our best in slot likely wont come from pvp anymore, which is great for those of us that no longer pvp, but I admit it does nothing for pvp players.

Yeah will be so fun to play with 2 sets all the time for every day play. Will quickly get tiresome. Constantly switching it out. Lets do some M+ oh wait im WM ON better switch gear when traveling to dungeon. Once inside…Oh wait this is PVE. Change again. Dungeon done. Oh damn WM ON…switch again…and bet all this is done without any sort of PVP done.

I would like to have gear that scaled higher for mythic+. I don’t like that I need to do mythic raiding in order to progress in mythic+.

Unless you are a tank and you want to min-max you already do have two sets. At a minimum you are swapping your pvp trinket in and out, but if you’re havok you are swapping Vers-Haste rings for Haste-Vers rings, if you’re a frost mage you are probably swapping out vers for crit. If you’re not a min-maxer it wont make a jot of difference as you will simply accept being slightly nerfed in different content.

I Raid or do PVP to get gear for M+, can we seperate that aswell please?
I do some RBG’s could we seperate RBG’s and Arena too? I don’t feel that is is fair people get good gaer in Arena and then use it in RBG’s afterwards, totally different game.

However this will requie people to run around with 4 x the specs you play sets of gear sometimes. (eg. Druid = 16 sets of gear)

I can’t wait to grind 2 sets of gear.
