Is the wow community more toxic than other gamers?

Fortunately I did most M0s with friends or at least one friend. It was great week 1 because we did a M0 clear having all just dinged and being gearless wonders. It was a bit challenging but people were patient. By week 2 that patience had vanished.

We even had a healer and tank arguing in a Heroic dungeon this reset, and then tank left, all because the healer wanted to do some skip, in a hc. It didn’t help that in demonstrating his skip he died

What would u say is toxic? people saying bad words, people straight up ignoring players, cus imo that ain’t toxicity, that’s just gamer words, now, if people are saying the big no-no words, that might be true, else, don’t think World of Warcrafts community is extremely toxic, i’ve tried games that makes WoW look like happy family.

So you’re happily calling that stranger who did bad the f word?..

And I am not talking about curseword…

Do you even know what ‘gamer words’ are?

Question is, do u know the standard ‘gamer words’ is? calling someone the “f” word and not the uck at the end of it, isn’t really a “gamer word” but the “got” if u know what i mean, is considered a gamer word, harsh one, but still a gamer word, also, don’t be triggered by it, like, comeon.

Doesnt change the fact its not toxic?

no…

So, what do u consider toxic tho?
the hard n word?
the hard r word?
the hard f word?

Words that’s being used by a millions of people worldwide everyday, don’t get triggered by it, also, if you find yourself being triggered by these words, buddy, this is probably your first time on the internet as a whole.

Personally, people that behave irrationally, illogically, and lash out ready to pick a fight over non-issues and pointless things. <Insert 'it’s only game y u mad>-meme here.

Triggered is something else than just completely being done with people who lack normal decency. And no i am on the interent since 1995.

Who said I get triggered by it? I use /ignore.

Still does not change the fact its toxic

Every game community is toxic in its own way IMHO.

Even The Sims fanbase, which from outside could be seen as all unicorns and rainbows, can be pretty nasty. Maybe not upfront trollish and mean, but more in a passive-aggressive way.

It’s the internet after all…

I’m definitely becoming more toxic the more time I spend on the forum… I don’t know why but all this negative posts just trigger me. I’m getting frustrated and angry and bitter…
In game I’m all right

Online communities → “social” media → hide behind a random name, on e.g. tiktok it’s even userxxxxxxxxxxx → say anything you want without consequences (esp. left leaning people), and usually they let themselves go beyond a level that would be socially accepted in the real life … I think this is an issue in general, not just here.

At the same time those people are shocked when they get actioned by a GM or even here on the forums.

It’s fairly simple though, there is a Code of Conduct, if people breach that they can be reported and Blizz can decided if action is needed and if so what.

Indeed, it’s their forums, their rules.

You obviously haven’t been in a MW2 lobby or random competitive csgo matchmaking. Wow toxicity is very subtle. It’s mostly just telling someone else their transmog sucks or that they’re a loser irl because they have the time and effort to get good gear/time gated mounts and achievements (which is true in some cases). That in it self is not really bad or punishable. If so 50% of the player base would get banned over night if they had to enforce it

Or offending the tank’s mother, or the tank herself

Literally every Call of Duty lobby with voice chat?

If that is our standard level of toxicity, I would rank wow about 1.1 on the call of duty toxicity scale. with 0 being exactly as toxic as a C.o.D lobby and 10 being any LoL game chat.

depending on the content you engage with, the player base can be slightly more toxic than your standard call of duty lobby with voice chat, only because wow allows so many more ways to be toxic that does not exist or apply in call of duty.
This is offset by the amount of neutral encounters you will have in a standard day of game time, if we go by the idea you aren’t actively seeking or starting the toxicity yourself.

This observation is based on data gathered by a singular player and may be biased towards that one players experience. a larger pool of test subjects may be needed to accurately determine wows toxicity on the call of duty toxicity scale.

Some people just love drama and arguments… those of us that work for a living cba to get involved in kid $**T online.

It’s especially sad when you beat someone in PVP and they /w you crying and trying to get personal.

On the positive side I believe most of us just get on and enjoy ourselves.
