The most toxic game chat i’ve ever encountered.
Were in a game called Wargame: Red Dragon, the chat was completely ummoderated and the game was about a fictive contiunation of the cold war set in the 1990 era.
League of legends, FPS games, GTA V, doesn’t even come close to the degeneracy going in there.
I recall I ever played the games which most of the players were so toxic during 2000s

Any pvp game like dota, lol etc have most toxic community. In short pvp makes you toxic but also skillful.

How about when they see you trying to mine a vein and mine it before you. How about when they see you dying to a mob and not help. How about rushing to kill a rare that they know others want to tag. How about refusing to invite people into group because ‘‘warriors’’ are crap. ETC, etc, etc. Dude, trust me, I play the game, I play the game a lot. The community is very toxic.
on forums ? yes. many trolls hiding behind political correctness. no offence to trolls here 
in game? nope. everyone is really kind and helpful. not very social but nice still.

I think its nowadays on par with toxicity of games like LOL and Star Trek Online which both have really awfull community.
Wow really went downhill fast after they made everything server wide and killed the little town feel of server communities. Sure there were a-holes back then too but it was really miniscule compared the crapshow we have today.
It can’t not without extreme moderation by the real game masters and not the crappiest automated system i have ever seen. Once you open the Pandora’s box and do nothing about it you as well can just enjoy the ride. Douchebags will never become nice by them self magically.

But then I don’t believe there’s a “wow community.” There are different groupings of players, some positive, some negative.

I don’t think it is particularly toxic but it attracts a certain kind of toxicity - Sheldon from the big bang theory snide smarmy nerd put downs, talking to you like you are a knuckle dragging piece of crap. It is less toxic but the toxicity is of this style which gets to me more than in other games.
Its not so bad compared to other hellholes of gaming, but day by day I unintentionally created my own small friendly group for this game and now actively trying to avoid strangers as much as possible. Always having this weird anxiety with a stranger getting in my group as I rarely seen someone being polite.
In my experience the LoL community is the most toxic. It might have changed but it used to be absolutely unbearable. I deleted my account so that I never have an excuse to return to the game. WoW is not as toxic.
humanity is toxic why would our games be any different quite a lot of people have the us vs them mentality in rl that they transfer over to the game as well
